  1. Okay, so I politely replied that I was going to pass, because I wasn't comfortable with the means of payment, and this was his reply back to me: QUOTE you know RUSH is from Canada right atleast i have the tickets, as you can see in this picture i have the seats its to bad you wont be sitting 4th row center floor.. with geddy lee and alex lifeson and neil peart He then attaches this image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/lakesidemaiden/tickets.jpg and expects me to be able to see the faces of the tickets. Well, I had enough when I just saw the "You know RUSH is from Canada right?"....so this was my reply to him: QUOTE Okay, that was a little bit of a direct attack on me. Yes, I know that Rush is from Canada. I've been a fan for over 20 years now. I've seen Rush 13 times, and yes, would love to see them at MSG again- hence why I contacted you initially. However, when you reply saying that you won't take paypal, and will only accept a cross-borders wire, that screams scam. And for the record, when you're trying to prove that you have the tickets, you might want to get a larger picture that a person can actually see the face of the ticket. For all I know, that could be for a Hamilton Bulldogs game worth $20 each.
  2. Just checked into an ad I saw on Craigslist, and wanted to make sure no one got scammed by this guy...it was for (4) 4th row tickets for the MSG show, to make an offer. So I emailed the guy and he got back to me with this email: QUOTE $150 each My name is Rob. I still have RUSH tickets. I would like to offer the following payment options to you for these tickets because I am not in the city. Me and my wife and kids are unable to make it due to work schedules. http://www.westernunion.com/ just click on locate agent and go Directly into an outlet like a moneymart ect... or http://www.moneygram.com these are often located in Postal outlets or you can click on there site to find something close to you. These would be the best payment options that I can ask for, I cant accept PayPal because its been an issue with my credit union for payments. my info is below you will need that Rob Cook 239 14th St W 320 Prince Albert, Saskatchewan S6V 3L4 Canada I will be using FedEx overnight express to send you the tickets, there is no extra charge for this I will also send you a valid tracking confirmation once you have sent the payment to me, I guarantee you will get these tickets within 24-48 hours of payment because I use the express service for FedEx from my company account. I hate scalpers so this is why I have made payment as stated above like this. I hope this is not an issue, If you need any more info please contact me asap. Thanks Rob I checked into it, because working at the Service Desk at Walmart we're trained to catch Money Gram Scams - and this raised about 4red flags with me. One, it's cross-border (except for the most "rabid" Rush fan, why would someone from Saskatchewan have tickets to a New York show when there are dates far closer to him); Two, he will only accept a wire transfer; Three, he won't send out the tickets until he has payment (which is precautionary for most people selling tickets, on top of the other two things, it's not safe); and Fourth, his email even sounds sketchy: rockstarshows@hotmail.com. So I looked at ScamChecker.com, and found this: Robert Cook Ticket Scam So, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up so no one gets duped by this guy.
  3. I've had a few dreams...sadly I can't recall some of them now. one of my first ones I was sitting on my living room couch (this was back probably around 2003 or so, I was still married to my now ex-husband), with Geddy (btw, these dreams almost exclusively involve Ged lol) who had placed his hand on my upper leg...again, sadly, cant recall the end of that one - I probably woke up Another one I was playing softball with my brother and father up at my family house in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire (yeah, me, softball - RIGHT lmfao ) and Geddy came up and asked if he could play, and we were like "holy - SURE!" and then we all ended up jamming together afterward...another one I went to a concert up here at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, but somehow lost my car, and Ged ended up gentlemanly escorting me to the Dunkin Donuts where my mom was going to pick me up (got a nice kiss at the end of that one )...the last few I can recall, I have the entire dream cause I actually wrote them down lol.... so this was a nice long dream about Geddy - just hanging out with him, nothing sexual or anything. Was pretty damn kewl until my sister and dad went to take him to the airport instead of me, and I was stuck sitting in my car with very wet front seat from the window being left down. But then I ran into him again, and I gave him my address, number and email address so that I could send him a picture of the Baby's First Rush Concert t-shirt I had had made, after I told him Niall had been to two shows in the womb - which he thought was pretty awesome...LOL I have very elaborate and strange dreams! this dream started out at a what seemed like a town pool, where we were there with my dad's old drummer, Pete and his family, along with my family. I went thru the front door with my sister and immediate fell down into shallow water that went in a ring (like a running track) around the main pool. I stood up, and went into one of the changing rooms (and Dave was in there). We came out, and we were at a show, but not in our seats. It was right before they came back out for the encore. I was sitting on the side of the stage, on some steps leading up to the stage. Neil came running up, I just kinda nodded and smiled at him, he smiled back. Geddy came running up and I smiled and held out my hand and he slapped me five as he was running by (Al was on the other side of the stage)...I had a Marcia Brady moment, saying that I'd never wash my hand again So they played the encore, and the crew (AND band) started breaking things down. I made my way over to Al's side of the stage (behind the curtain) and he's sitting there with a few people, and he invites me to sit down, and we all start talking...somehow it gets on the subject of weed, and Al went to hand me a joint, I thanked him and declined, saying that normally I'd love to, but...and he asked why. I told him that I had been pregnant and miscarried (he then put his arm around me in a brotherly, comforting way), but that Dave & I were going to try again, and I wanted to keep it out of my system. So that little group of people broke up, and Al went out to pack up his own equipment. I realized that I hadn't said bye to him, so I pulled out my cell phone (don't ask me where I got Al's cell # from, cause I haven't the foggiest clue) and began to text him saying goodbye, and he walked backstage again, and I laughed and said, "I was about to text you goodbye", and he said, "why are you only saying goodbye to me?" And proceeded to prod me out onto the main stage....Here's where it gets a little weirder...my DAD is out there, in his country get up (jeans, western style dress shirt and cowboy hat) and he's helping the guys break down the equipment. Neil is over by a mic stand wrapping up a mic cable, and I went over to say goodbye to him, and when I went to shake his hand he shook his head, and I said, okay, well, I just wanted to say you guys sounded awesome tonight, and I wanted to say goodbye. He said thank you (and sounded extremely stuffed up, like he was sick) so I assumed that he didn't want to give me what he had So I went searching for Geddy....he wasn't there -- I was extremely saddened by this....so I went to go back down the steps, and there he was right in front of me, said were you leaving without saying goodbye? I just kinda smiled stupidly at him, and said, I didn't know where you had gone...so I told him how awesome they sounded, and I was about to get a nice hug goodbye when....I woke up. DAMN!!!! this dream starts out with my brother and grandmother and me arriving up at the farm (which burned down in 2005) and her commenting on how I had my keys and my brother not having his (odd)...then I went outside for some reason and my sister shows up with a couple friends of hers in a Chevelle SS, and I turn around and we're somewhere in Wolfeboro (about 10 minutes away from where the Farm used to be). We go into this building and my sister is apparently now in a band with these two people and they start playing a show for a bunch of people (which is a little far-fetched cause she has severe stage fright) who just randomly all appeared there. After they finish up playing, a guy comes over to me with a guitar and I just started fiddling around with it, he asks me what i think of the action and how it played, and then asks if we can jam, and Geddy walks up - and I get all fumble fingered on the guitar, saying that all I know are country songs and bits and pieces of Rush & Zeppelin songs (which is basically true)... somehow the guitar is gone from my hands and Ged is leaning back into me with the back of his head against my abdomen, and I'm stroking his head and sides of his face with my fingers, and he takes my fingers and kisses them. We then start to make out a bit, gets a little hot and heavy, then he breaks away, and he says that he really wants to continue but...and I immediately understand saying, you don't want to be one of 'those' musicians who cheats on his wife, and he sighs and says yes...so I say, how about we take a walk and I'll show you around town, and he says that would be great and we go out and start walking around town hand in hand talking...and I woke up. I HATE it when I wake up from dreams like that!!!!!

I love hand shots... Don't we all, Jaye? And, yes girlies, I'm back. I think the coolest thing about Geddy's hands is what he can do with them. I'm talking about playing bass, you pervs! Ok, so that's not all I am thinking about.... lol - yeah, I've always connected the two together myself...just look what those hands can do on a bass...very fast fingers

  6. QUOTE (Janie @ Dec 15 2010, 01:24 PM) ALEX NEWS FROM RIAB. Last month he signed a Carparelli S3 guitar that will be auctioned off to raise money for Autism Speaks Canada. I love hearing these stories about the charities that the Rush guys are involved with. This one, obviously, struck a chord with me. I thought others here would be interested too.
  7. So a friend of mine sent me a link on Facebook: Crush With Rush on Tumblr Looks like someone found my LOLRush on here and posted it to Tumblr lol QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Mar 12 2009, 11:13 AM)k..went thru some of my shots from the tour last year and finally found one I can use http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/lakesidemaiden/LOLRush/LOLRushGeddy.jpg

Went to see Santa (weird how he was in 2 different places, eh? must've been his Helpers ) over the weekend http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/lakesidemaiden/Niall%20Aiden%20Murray/IMG_7250cpyrt.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/lakesidemaiden/Niall%20Aiden%20Murray/IMG_7252cpyrt.jpg
  9. QUOTE (Ceiling Limited Squishy @ Dec 5 2010, 03:45 PM) I'm as self-loathing as the next gal! [/quote] I resent that! I'm female and a proud narcissist! Although, I believe that was your joke and I've walked into the trap! Don't lump me, don't lump me! Ducky loves the USA! Have some British love from us thanks
  10. QUOTE (MULTIPLIED REACTION @ Dec 4 2010, 08:16 PM) At least the bitching about Neil has stopped. oh give them about .5 seconds, another thread will pop up about him. *sigh*
  11. QUOTE (Jean Simmons @ Dec 4 2010, 07:02 PM) Being as the Americans - the USA ones - think they are the best nation on earth, then the almighty dollar should reflect that in its designs it doesn't. The Pund Sterling may be a crappy currency, andit may have the Bitch Queen on it, but the actual design of the notes is second to none. Wish they'd bring back the 10 bob note though. I love how you group us all into one lump. seriously, there's no need for the hate mongering for America. I don't know when I've ever heard any person in my acquaintance say that they think America is better than any other country in the world. All I'm saying is maybe you should lower your blatant hatred towards all things American. I love the UK. I don't particularly appreciate what the Brit's did to the Native American indigenous people (my ancestors, for the record) but I don't hold you personally responsible for it, now do I? You've apparently got some serious self-esteem issues if you feel the need to take out all your aggression on an Internet Forum on people you don't know and may never (hopefully) meet.
  12. QUOTE (Derxst @ Dec 3 2010, 04:16 PM) QUOTE (balance @ Dec 3 2010, 01:41 PM) QUOTE (Derxst @ Dec 2 2010, 07:10 PM) I expect to pay $150 per ticket to see Rush, and I willing to pay it. If you want a cheap concert, go see Poison or Ratt at the fair. Derxst, I hate to bust your bubble with that statement but, if memory serves me right didn't the boys just play about 5 or 6 fairs this time around? I paid $136 for 2 tickets second row in front of Geddy. Cheap but, damn what a F***en show plus it WAS WAY better than Poison or Ratt could ever be. When I say "fair" I mean like a county fair. You know: win a stuffed animal, get some candied apples, go see the washed up band. Not the kind of "fair" where Rush would perform. "Free with your admission - EDDIE MONEY!" ouch dude...my dad plays fairs like that all the time, and I wouldn't call his band washed up. and I'm sure a bunch of other bands who frequent the forum here may also get gigs playing fairs as well...and from a musicians standpoint: a gig is a gig. you're getting paid to play: Be Happy
  13. QUOTE (Janie @ Nov 29 2010, 04:36 PM)...but they said more dates are being added... Where did it say that?
  14. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Nov 28 2010, 11:58 PM) It looks like the North American dates are confirmed on rush.com, including a "very special" return to Los Angeles. Could this be where they'll film the DVD? Am I blind? Cause I don't see this anywhere on Rush.com....
  15. QUOTE (kbomb106 @ Nov 29 2010, 01:36 AM) Uh....Hershey, NJ? I think their webmaster needs to check a map. I'm bummed they're not doing anything northeast of NYC. To be completely honest, I was a little bummed when they announced the possibility of North American dates to be added on to the second leg. We can't afford to go, and if they announced something close to home, it would literally kill us to not be able to go...So knowing that the closest they will be is NYC or Maryland, and while I am very sorry for all of you who want to see them again and wanted them to come around to New England...for my own selfish reasons, I'm actually a little relieved. I saw them on the first leg twice, and I know that they will be on tour again for Clockwork Angels, so I can wait for that tour. I'd rather save up my money for that tour, and try and get better seats. Just my opinion.
  16. QUOTE (Fridge @ Nov 22 2010, 02:58 AM) QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Nov 22 2010, 07:51 AM) QUOTE (Fridge @ Nov 22 2010, 02:24 AM) QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Nov 22 2010, 04:04 AM) He singled out what I said to him with that followup about Asperger's, which to me seemed completely out of left-field... I think you are being too sensitive here. I myself have Aspergers and I actually appreciate people pointing out something that I have done "oddly" or "wrong". Sometimes people get upset or annoyed on our behalf when there is no real need, thouh I appreciate your motives. Hon, I only got upset at the comment after the fact that even after agreeing with him (just not the way he went about it), he got upset with me for saying so, and then made a really random comment about maybe he had Asperger's. Yes, perhaps I was a little touchy about it, because my son was recently diagnosed, and I hate the thought of people being singled out because of a disability - but also because of what my husband is going through with his work right now (he's going to be going in for a neuro-psych eval to find out if he has it as well and it's just been misdiagnosed as ADHD all this time)...he's on the verge of being fired, and I'm under a lot of strain between the two of their situations, so when I get a comment like that, seemingly out of left field, not related to anything, it just pushed a button. I didn't go off on him in there. I said something relatively mild, left it at that, and came into this thread to talk to people here about it...I'm generally un-confrontational. I don't like getting in peoples faces, even cybernettically. I understand where you are coming from, and I appreciate you are under a fair bit of pressure, but from what I can see I don't think he meant any harm, and to be fair he couldn't know about your personal situation. I think how you are feeling is colouring your response in this instance, which is understandable...it is a lot to worry about after all...I hope it works out for you and your husband. Thanks hon

  18. QUOTE (Queen of Megadon @ Nov 21 2010, 10:42 PM) QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Nov 21 2010, 04:04 PM) Okay so this just really bothered me. I realize that it was an offhand comment, self-deprecating towards the poster....but it bothered me nonetheless. I was defending the person who had posted what I thought was a pretty good marketing idea for Anthem in this thread: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=61330, who had made some pretty blatant spelling and gramattical errors in his email to Anthem - and this person had called him out...so I just said he/she could have been a little kinder in their criticism and they retorted back with this: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=61330# QUOTE (savagegrace26 @ Nov 21 2010, 03:32 PM)I just said it needs to be rewritten. Considering what I wanted to say I don't see how that's impolite. Maybe I have Asperger Syndrome. So all I said in reply was "you really may want to watch what you say about that too. My son has Asperger's, and there are quite a few parents on this board who have children with Autism as well, and there are many, including myself, who could take offense to that comment, offhand or no. All I was saying was to explain yourself more when you give criticism. It's called constructive criticism." Anyway, I just wanted to vent a little bit... I dunno LSM..., here's my thoughts The "needs a rewrite" was blunt, but not necessarily cruel. Not sure I would have called the poster out. "Maybe I have Aspergers Syndrome." Should people be sensitive to disabilities? Sure. You were right to let the poster know that some people might be offended by this offhand remark. You handled it better than me as I would have just let it go...maybe thicker skin, maybe cause I've been at this for a really long time,(13 years since dx) and I'm just not ruffled as easily by these things. Not that anyone shouldnt be ruffled, or blow it off but I dont think it was meant to be offensive but it shouldnt be said in the first place but maybe they DO have Aspergers and YOU offended THEM. (the above runon is meant to show ONLY how I FEEL about how freaking complicated things get when I think too much about someone elses words. I have bigger fish to fry. But I didnt mean for it to be offensive and I didnt mean to hurt anyone's feelings....etc) Well, I didn't single him out completely, I actually partially agreed with him, just said that he could have been a little kinder is all - this was my post: QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Nov 21 2010, 03:20 AM) This is a really good idea, and I think ghostworks has a good followup suggestion to the idea as well - and I do also agree with savagegrace26 (though, savage, you could have been a little kinder in your criticism) that you probably should have proofread for grammar and spelling errors before sending off that email. I was trying to read it out loud to my husband and was having issues trying to get through some of your sentences in figuring out what you were trying to say. Having said that, I think it is a great idea, and if it were released, I hope that we have the money to purchase it! He singled out what I said to him with that followup about Asperger's, which to me seemed completely out of left-field...
