  1. Dunno, Lorraine. That epic performance of Working Man they put on at the concluding show at The Gorge in 2011 was really epic. Alex just roared. And at the end, Geddy unleashed what was, to my knowledge, his only f-bomb from the stage. Double epic historicness!
  2. "We're only immortal for a limited time." Truer words were never spoken.
  3. Interesting. One of four dates Rush played on the same bill with Thin Lizzy in '75-'76. Would have loved to see any of those shows, of course. Gimme some Whisky in a Jar any day. I didn't remember anything about the third band, Starcastle. They apparently haled from Champaign IL (where I went to law school), played a prog, highly Yes-like style, and in '73-'80 they opened for a bunch of famous acts - Nugent, Boston, Journey, Styx, Tull, Foreigner, Todd Rundgren, Gary Wright, etc. Just listened to Starcastle's Lady of the Lake on Youtube and man, "Yes-like" is polite. More like "can't-ape-a-band-any-more-than-this-Jon-Anderson-should-sue."
  4. Um...I'm a Tai Shan?
  5. Union, yes, I agree, that's what I recalled. I'd line up Side A on the bottom, followed by Side B, then when they finished playing, I'd flip the stack, and they were set for Side C, then Side D to follow. As easy as possible to listen to the concert in order.
  6. One positive I can think of is that no one actually threw up on camera, though I think Cactus Pete cam the closest. Knowing this was the last tour motivated me to drink less that day. Interesting. I sure drank plenty before (and during) Tulsa, but that's because a) I was with my brother, He Plays Bass, and that always leads to excesses, b) I knew I'd be seeing more of the shows last year, and c) I didn't want my Opening Night interpretive dance moves to be stymied during the concert by anything approaching self-awareness. Despite my impaired condition, I still recall most of Tulsa, and especially, how satisfied I was with the concept and setlist. In that regard, I stayed entirely sober for the Montreal show, as a sort of social experiment (and because I was providing a 'scope and I had seen the scorn you folks heaped on the occasional blotto broadcasters) to see if it affected my enjoyment of the performance. Sobriety really didn't have much impact, but I'm sure my seat mate, Farid, valued my more restrained gyrations. No problem. Beer and spastic convulsions were well represented at Los Angeles.

    Signals!

Interesting discussion. For me, Signals where where I jumped off the bandwagon, and stayed off for a considerable length of years. The album just completely lost me, as I felt no connection with any lyrics on the album. While the band (or Geddy, at least) was becoming intrigued by the potential for synths up front, and exploring new world beats, I wanted no part (no Peart?) of their explorations. Fast forward 30 years, and I sink a couple of hundred bucks into a synthesizer, solely to teach myself how to play the opening of Subdivisions. Times, indeed, do change.
  8. Seems to me that Lorraine has slowed her posting pace today. Perhaps working on a lengthy exposition worthy of Tombstone Mountain for the commemorative post, or perhaps to give us all a bit more time to give her clever ideas? Maybe she's out buying a gift for the poster that guesses the true content of her 30K post? Or perhaps she's rationing out her posts, making them all count before she too pulls a 29,999 disappearing act? What if she's out getting hi-speed access because the porn possibilities had never occurred to her before?
  9. Gotta admit though it'd be awesome! Yeah but I'm nude, soaking wet, having not toweled off yet, tying to figure out how to get tickets and a plane flight. My heart is palpitating. Then NOTHING! Don't be a tease, John!!
  10. Again, those great minds, in lockstep...
  11. Only 101 posts to go!! Get those guesses in soon!
  12. A landmark approaches. The drumbeat draws near. Will she commemorate the occasion with her usual wit and verve, or will the momentous occasion pass with just a smiley face?
  13. I was hoping that we'd get Prime Mover on the R40 tour. Would have been a great add in that first set. Guess they'll just have to go out and tour again!
  14. I don't. I will always remember, however, the thick white smoke that hung in the air like a covert invitation.
  15. I was at the show Chemistry mentioned. In fact, I got to the first three shows of that four block set, denied by my mom from attending the April 6 show because it was Easter Sunday, as I've explained on this board in more detail elsewhere. The four shows were sponsored by local radio station WLUP, and Steve Dahl served as the MC. That was about a year after Disco Demolition, and Dahl was at the height of his Insane Coho Lips glory. Good times.
  16. If you find such a machine, my dear, I've got a few things in my history to address before I get around to attending Rush concerts, although they'd be pretty high on my list.

    neil

Neil...Neil... What's the deal? Has all touring lost its appeal? Don't look like you've missed a meal! For us fans you have no zeal? Are you tired of being called a heel? What's it like to make Carrie squeal? <<hey this is a family board!>> Won't your bank account congeal? Will I resort to listening to Seal?

    Almost there...to...five pages...

Gotta push through to at least three pages...need to say something witty and brilliant...ummm...uhhhh... I always thought that of the three, Neil would smell the worst. Not just after a show or a long ride, but even in his quiet time. He just doesn't seem like he'd care enough about what others think of him to focus on personal hygiene.
  20. I'm gonna have to go with Limelight. When I hear that opening riff blast out of my radio, without any sort of warning or premonition, it always lifts my mood.
  21. RIAB ran a story today indicating that Geddy and Alex will be interviewed by two rock critics (one being Greg Kot, who in the past has made some unflattering comments about our favorite band), and it will be aired on tonight (Friday Feb 26) at 8 PM on WBEZ in Chicago. I went on the web site to confirm details of the broadcast, and found that the interview is already posted. I haven't listened yet, as I'm on conference calls all afternoon (dammit!) but wanted to share anyway. http://soundopinions.org/show/535
  22. Yeah, I have an awkward package, but my wife has learned to adapt.
