  1. Now he's had surgery, will he be able to attend? Jack Hughes as well...wonder who will go in their places?
  2. I got to see Led Zeppelin early in their career so I recognized the picture, it was a big surprise to see him bow his guitar on stage. Had I not witnessed that I would have been scratching my head at the photo too Happy Birthday Jimmy
  3. You really thought they had a chance against the Jets? From what I saw, Mrazek played a great game, the defense did too but they all ran out of gas IMHO
  4. Didn't they set themselves up for this? Clearing out the team then scrabbling around to get players, going to cost them money in any event. Looks like Perry is going to be playing again, rumors say Toronto is interested
  5. I enjoy the Skills competition most, looks like Makar and Georgiev made it, no Rantenen . Swayman and Bobrovsky too. Will announce the rest tonight.
  6. I saw highlights, it was a close game. The Hawks are trying in the absence of Bedard. So are you voting on the All Star roster? My hubby is sending our 10 votes each day. I think it runs through the 11th.
  7. Fantastic game to make up for the stinker on Saturday. Avs duel it out with Boston, win 4-3 in a shootout. Was a great game but nerve wracking too. Had an unusual occurrence, both teams got called for too many men on the ice at the same time Don't think that is something I have ever seen before
  8. It's like the rubber necking at an accident, people can't seem to help themselves. I get your frustration, I have been doing a similar thing with YT, stuff pops up in my feed and I click and then smack my forehead...why did I go there??
  9. Agree completely, audio helps me read while doing boring stuff and I have come to really love certain narrators so I listen to those series because of the reader. Such as Simon Vance, love his rendition of the Temeraire series (besides I am a sucker for British accents ) and George Guidall does a fantastic job on Longmire as well as Tony Hillerman's Navajo Detective series . The classics do require more concentration due to the subject matter usually, there are some books I tried in audio but went to the print because it just wasn't getting through. I'll take your word for it on Dorian, it was sad for me for that and Murder to be so disappointing. They both are touted as distinguished authors but I may have waited too late in life to read them, I find I have little patience with certain literary forms the older I get.
  10. You still get credit for reading classics IMHO Lots of folks don't want to tackle those, I am one of them lately. Last ones I tried were Picture of Dorian Grey and Murder on the Orient Express (both about 2 years ago). Did finish the Christie but just couldn't finish Dorian. Ah well. Perhaps I will get to some of the other long delayed books this year. I haven't always kept lists, kinda wish I had because it would be fun to see how my interests have progressed over the years. Joined Goodreads in 2012 and that helped me keep track of where I was on the yearly list so I could adjust my reading pace. Always have a break in April to June where not much gets read (hockey fan and that's playoff time..not much of anything gets done during those months ) I enjoy logging in and seeing my list of completed reads (still keep a physical copy as well, never know when those darn computers crash). Then as I get closer to the end of the year I can push to get my goal met since I can see how far behind I am. Still working on Geddy's book, taking my time now I have the physical copy and can go back and look at the pictures as I finish a chapter in the audio version.
  11. Heavy stuff to start off the year..
  12. Hughes will be out for a while but probably not as long as Bedard. That was a vicious hit
  13. Avs got their heads handed to them tonight. Playing from a deficit eventually catches up to you...what a train wreck
  14. Avs win another game in OT with a goal by MacKinnon, 5-4 over Dallas. He's tied with Kucherov for scoring lead
  15. If they don't do something like that, bowl season will become irrelevant. Who wants to watch snooze fests with mostly second liners playing?
  16. Finished the last two right before Christmas. Had no idea Melissa had played with Smashing Pumpkins. Novoselic is a huge guy, he lives an eccentric life in the country. Hope there will be more episodes.
  17. I got the audio in November and Hubby bought me the book for Christmas. Am up to the chapter where he just got married, now I can go back and look at the pictures. Enjoying Geddy's narration, taking my time to savor it.
  18. Yes, guess his temper tantrum woke some guys up. It's like we don't know which team is going to show up from night to night, that meltdown against the Coyotes was awful so I don't blame Georgie for blowing up. We got Girard back so that makes me hopeful that Lehkonen will be back soon as well. He's a great play maker, Avs really need him right now.
  19. Gee that sounds like Utah, the liberals in Salt Lake County are now muzzled by the rest of the rural population by the last redistricting. Going from a majority to a super majority makes any change almost impossible now they cut the county into 4 parts with rural areas attached to them. It's a mess.
  20. Not everyone sees Musk in the same light, his so-called belief in free speech has turned X into a cesspool of racism and antisemitism is rampant there. He also has been sabotaging Starlink connections in Ukraine among other questionable actions.
  21. Avs close out the year with a win over San Jose. MacKinnon still has his home game streak going (though the consecutive points stopped at 19 games December 29th) . Second only to Kucherov in total points and also leads in assists, so he's still clicking along nicely. Last two games have been grinders but a win is a win.
  22. Didn't make my goal for reading this year, too many podcasts I guess. Managed 15 of 20. Only the second time since I started keeping a count, so on the whole not so bad. But it is depressing that I could read 80 books or more in a year when I was working and now that I am retired can barely make 40 (2022).
  23. The contrast with Dick made Tom even funnier, I loved the mischievous little boy looks he would get on his face as he prepared to launch a zinger. RIP
