  1. how the hell had i never heard of him until last week.he is amazing
  2. i am no guitarist (i attempt to play rush songs ;-) but my fav one to play is a coin toss between the analog kid and the big money. the analog kid because i just love the tune (i don't play it anything like as well/exact as alex) but i bluster my way through it (and attempt my own version of his solo on different stages version. the big money i love also,as it was the video to it that first got me into the band.i feel that it is the rush track i can play best also.
  3. it was a very tough choice (as i love subdivisions) BUT it has to be analog kid for me especially the different stages version. alex's solo on that just blows me away.i just love how it changes between uptempo to a more melancholy rhythm guitar throughout the whole song too. but subdivisions is sublime rush at their best too
  4. same here (file removed due to copyright infringement
  5. he's also on the show at midnight sunday bbc radio 2 (01/07/12) on the bob harris show talking about clockwork angels.
  6. i'm sure this has never been asked here before ;-) as he has done so many great solo's,it's a hard one to choose just one as being my favorite, but i have finally. for me the solo to analog kid that he does on the different stages album, just knocked my socks off when i first heard it (and every time since :-) it's just stunningly good (and analog kid is one of my favorite rush tracks also
  7. i really like tai shan i cannot get into their early stuff (although i do respect it). i cannot get into vapor trails (although i love earthshine and freeze part 4 of fear). i love their 80's synth period the most. i much prefer power windows to moving pictures (although i do like the album a lot).
  8. since getting the album yesterday,i just cannot stop playing it i feel a lot more connected to it than with the last 2 albums (no offence meant,i just couldn't get into them.they weren't bad albums by any means). as one of my favorite albums is counterparts (it was the first rush album i bought after chronicles) i can hear a lot of that on the new album (might just be me though). they definitely didn't hold back when making this
  9. firstly let me make a confession.i had planned on not getting it after all.i was getting fed up with waiting for it to arrive at the newsagents i reserved it with (not their fault i'd like to add).so yesterday i used the money i had planned on buying the fanpack with (along with more cash p/x'ing my squier cv tele),and put it towards a new guitar instead ( a lovely vintage lemon drop les paul style guitar well this morning i had a call from the shop saying it had arrived DOH! i was truthful and told them that i had spent the money towards a new guitar instead (i had asked earlier if it would be alright if i had found the magazine somewhere else to cancel the reserve, and they said that would be fine. anyhoo my conscience was playing havok with me/plus i would seriously kick myself if i didn't buy it so off i cycled as fast as my little legs could pedal,to the shop,in the hope no one had bought it in the meantime (they only had one copy ordered). well i am now listening to the new album (for the first time http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h365/racefaceec90/DSC00769.jpg http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h365/racefaceec90/DSC00770.jpg and am very much liking what i'm hearing (am currently on clockwork angels track that is all i'll be eating beans on toast for the next 13 days, but it's worth it
  10. tis wednesday now,and still the shop i have reserved a copy with, has still not seen it arrive yet.they did ring up their distributer, who didn't seem to know of it's existence then they sent the wrong magazine to them today instead (i never knew that bb king was in the band sorry to rant, but am getting pretty fed up with not so much as a sniff of the magazine (am not blaming the newsagents by the way, they have tried their best to get me a copy rant over

    GAH!

well have just come back from town.went there with high hopes of buying the collector's edition today. no (milton) banana though am not jealous in the slightest of all of you who have the album/getting it today. enjoy the new album you lot i will imagine what it will sound like (imagining alex doing his jazz/singing from rush in rio dvd
  12. damn it,i want the new album NOW!
  13. i am very much hoping to get my copy today (the classic rock special).as i haven't heard any of the album (cannot remember the new songs at the gig last year/that wasn't meant as an insult by the way,i just have a bad memory i cannot wait to finally hear the new album
  14. i just rang up the newsagent that i have reserved the special edition from.they don't get deliveries until tomorrow.DOH! didn't realize that newsagent's don't get deliveries until tuesday man it had better be worth the wait now EDIT goes off to watch some leo sayer videos on youtube to calm myself
  15. i cannot be the only one who hasn't yet heard it? hopefully i will be buying the classic rock magazine today with the album in i feel left out i must admit to really looking forward to getting it after reading all the comments (mostly positive) about the new album at the end of the day though it's a new rush album
  16. i am not a good guitarist, and have trouble trying to work out stuff by ear,so have used tab to learn rush stuff. i'd really like to try and learn more of their 80's stuff time stands still, mystic rhythms, force 10 e.t.c i have used internet tab sites, but it's usually quite tricky to find decent tab of songs i want to learn. if i ever get good enough, will attempt the big rush stuff one day 2112 e.t.c (cannot see that happening for a long time though thanks
  17. it's an awesome track
  18. i must say that i cannot wait to listen to clockwork angels (after reading the rave reviews about it here so who else is buying the magazine (and hasn't yet heard the album either) roll on monday
  19. i'll let you know once i have a copy (on monday when it's released with classic rock magazine).
  20. no option for Mediterranean loaf! either that or a cake
  21. absolutely love 80's synth rush also even though i didn't get into the band until 1993.it was through listening to the big money whilst watching mtv (whilst on holiday with my grandfather in spain) that got me into rush. ever since,i have always loved their 80's synth stuff especially (i love their other stuff too one track that does it for me (well there are a few tbh) is middletown dreams.there's just something about the synths on it (especially the last part right at the end) that always gets me.it feels like trying to reach for something you'll never grasp, but you never stop trying though (did that make any sense it's just stunningly beautiful/melancholy at the same time. that for me epitomizes what rush do the best
  22. just read this.i cannot wait for the album to be released (have reserved my classic rock special edition for 11th june it's going to rock
  23. oooh it looks like i will be buying classic rock magazine come june 11th (if they haven't sold out thanks for the heads up Presto-digitation
  24. D3strukt thank you i will now leave getting my guitar serviced until next month, then i can get the album at the same time.
