  1. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 10 2009, 08:26 PM) QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 10 2009, 04:33 PM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 10 2009, 03:17 PM) I haven't seen a lot, but one of my favorite movies of all time is easily The Last Temptation of Christ. I hope this thread lasts and doesn't become too religious. Loved it. Remarkable film. And Peter Gabriel's soundtrack is a masterpiece. It is truly the best work he's ever done, IMO. A powerful and moving film IMHO. I saw "Temptation" once. Thought it was pretty good artistically. I'm trying to remember the lead who played Jesus. Can see his face, but can't remmember his name. If I recall the story right, it focused on the the things that Jesus gave up to fulfill his mission. Namely, a wife and child. The real temptation was not having a "normal life". Right? The visual of the little girl pulling the nails out was really powerful. She was suppose to be the devil? She was the temptation?
  2. Alexis Grace got sent home. I thought it should have been the country dude. I'm glad it wasn't Allision who was also in the bottom three. Btw, what's the name of the hot blond with the tatoo sleeve. She had a real bad flu this week, but you couldn't tell it. Dang, did you see that dress!
  3. Yeah, I saw most of the first season and had lost some interest towards the end. But caught the new episode last week and it got me re-hooked. Well produced show. Good acting, cool plot. Some very funny dark comedy at times.
  4. QUOTE (PhilCastro @ Mar 11 2009, 09:30 PM) QUOTE (Cowtothesky @ Mar 5 2009, 12:28 AM) This guy looks like Pete Samprez: http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/a/american_idol/09/top36/15_jorge_nunez.jpg http://www.virginmedia.com/images/pete-sampras-400.jpg bye Pete You nailed it Phil! yep, dead ringer. Don't worry, he'll be coming soon to a Spanish speaking station in your area.
  5. This Adam guy is my pick to win it. (Sang 'Black and White') I'd like to hear him sing some Journey. He can sing. No doubt. Also, that 16 yr. old girl will be there at least to the end. She amazing for her age.
  6. QUOTE (PanaceaFish @ Mar 5 2009, 09:09 PM) Well, the Drama Queen didn't make it, and wept and blubbered all the way off the stage, too... And Anoop being added for the first ever "Top 13" came right outta left field!! Anoop just sang 'Beat it'. And Simon's goin' tell him the same. Terrible song choice. He's gone.
  7. QUOTE (Inthend @ Mar 1 2009, 11:38 PM) QUOTE (apetersvt @ Mar 1 2009, 07:11 PM)Richmond VA getting first real snowfall in more than 2 years. Supposed to be at the airport at 6:15 am tomorrow. I have a strong suspicion that I'll be stranded there most of the day. (forecast 8-12 inches) I think we're going to end up with about 5" by morning in Charlotte. Which is alot for us. It's a real wet snow and has broke alot of tree branches. It finally got my house about 11:00pm when the power went out. The temp. been hovering around 33 degrees if it doesn't get too much colder, the streets will probally be ok the morning. Ooh, power just came back on! Good going Duke Power!

  9. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Feb 18 2009, 09:22 PM) What is it with the "drama whore"? Does she provide the comic relief on the show or something? Explain what it is she does. I believe they're referring to one of the contestants. Yes she does provide some comic relief. She takes herself WAY too seriously. But she does have a pretty voice. I would have liked her to go one more round. I think she would have toned down her 'demure'.
  10. QUOTE (Queen of Megadon @ Feb 17 2009, 10:47 PM) Tatiana was such a phony!!! "oh no...i'm not like that! I'm much more sophisticated...blah blah blah" Dammit though, her voice is good! (song choice not so much) I voted for Danny! What song did he sing?
  11. QUOTE (tupelobarchetta @ Feb 8 2009, 05:11 AM) I watch it every once in a while. My wife watches it every time it's on. It was fun watching AI last year because I knew one of the Hollywood-bound singers - Drew Poppelreiter, the farm boy who would sing while riding in his tractor. The field where AI filmed Drew's breakout segment (shown before his audition) is five miles from my home. This year, my wife and I are pulling for Jasmine Murray, the 16-year-old girl from the city where our fellow TRF'er Skyswing lives - Starkville, Mississippi. I've seen her perform at a beauty pageant, and she is one talented person. Nerves got the best of Miss Murray tonight. She sounded terrible. As did several other contestants, ie., the black guy who tried to sing Michael Jackson. And the worst performance may have been the girl who tried to sing the Police's "Every little thing she does is Magic" (Simon was right when he said he was surprised someone didn't stop her from doing that song.) Anoop "Dog" did well; he'll be back. So did the short girl in the white dress. She reminds me a little of Pat Benatar. Also the flaky Porto Rican girl hit some nice notes.
  12. QUOTE (PanaceaFish @ Jan 29 2009, 10:07 PM) QUOTE (Cowtothesky @ Jan 29 2009, 10:00 PM) I personally like the show. It is refreshing to see talented people win competitions. There is so much useless crap out there - I guess I just like to see a show where the public decides who wins rather than some big-money executive promoting someone. Yeah, I hear that...But sometimes, the public don't know talent if it bit em in the butt...A good example was last season's AI when that little punk ass Archuletta kept getting voted for (when there were far more talented peeps competeing along with him), cos you know that it's those tween girls who think he's hot shite, but man, I couldn't stand him! And funnily enough, he only made second place, lol... Sorry PF, he may be a punk ass, and yes he got alot of the teeny bopper vote, but Davy Boy can sing. His rendition of "Imagine" was top notch.
  13. Spectacular as always RR. Btw, I've had the lenticular clouds as my screensaver since u posted it.
  14. QUOTE (RushRevisited @ Jan 21 2009, 09:41 AM) http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0901/lenticular_picking.jpg Explanation: What's happening above those mountains? Several clouds are stacked up into one striking lenticular cloud. Normally, air moves much more horizontally than it does vertically. Sometimes, however, such as when wind comes off of a mountain or a hill, relatively strong vertical oscillations take place as the air stabilizes. The dry air at the top of an oscillation may be quite stratified in moisture content, and hence forms clouds at each layer where the air saturates with moisture. The result can be a lenticular cloud with a strongly layered appearance. The above picture was taken in 2002 looking southwest over the Tarurua Range mountains from North Island, New Zealand. magnificent! Great stuff, RR.
  15. Welcome, Xanadoood, to an awesome board!
  16. QUOTE (Boof @ Jan 9 2009, 01:52 PM)The answer refers to the number of attempts at solving that one... We might have precious little Sorry Boof, I started but got sidetracked. Altho I came up with 15 two letter words the one I didn't think of was 'WE'. But still, you should have had more patience. Someone would have been bored enough to pick up the torch.

Now why couldn't I think of that? edit: and even worse I just noticed I spelled Kansas wrong! QUOTE Boofs image doesn't work, but it is a link to the "Snakes and Arrows" logo. Yep, that's probally more related. Give us another one, Boof!

  20. QUOTE (skyswing @ Sep 27 2008, 10:04 AM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Sep 27 2008, 09:56 AM) Aw, man. Very sad news. What an amazing actor, what a legacy. Thanks for all the great movies, sir. Rest in peace. "Goin' to Heaven here, boss." "Awright, Luke, go on. We'll miss ya." Very nice, Jack. Thanks. Yeah, this is the first time I've shed tears at the loss of a celebrity in some time. P.S.: There is no failure to communicate here. Very nice indeed, Jack. And thank you, Mr. Newman, for working so hard to induce so much emotion and feeling in the human soul as you did.

  22. QUOTE (syrinxpriest 2112 @ Sep 2 2008, 04:42 PM) QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Sep 2 2008, 03:47 PM) Take Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull off the list. It serves its purpose very well. It's a fun ride, and alot better than some of the drivel that comes out, and the only reason it remotely passes as bad is when compared to Raiders or Last Crusade, which is unfair. Pearl Harbor Ishtar Shanghai Surprise Mission to Mars The Eye The Strangers Starsky and Hutch Catwoman Armageddon Street Fighter Stop or My Mom Will Shoot Down With Love Disturbia Revolver Dream Catcher Gods and Generals (altho I thought the sets were very authentic) Pirates of the Caribbean at Worlds End Hostel 2 Aliens 3 Grease 2 Caddyshack 2 remake of "Planet of the Apes Starsky and Hutch When Harry Met Lloyd Sum of All Fears Free Willy 3 Oscar King Ralph Blame it on the Bellboy Summer Of Sam Disaster Movie and Epic Movie I think 'Battlefield Earth' deserves a mention in this thread. (so do i, good call) The Grudge 2 Rollerball remake Final Destination 2 & 3 I'd like to get a list that everyone agrees on, so if you would like any of the above taken off the list, please do so, or forever hold your peace.
