  1. Greensboro has some left WAY in the back but everything else is resale and the prices are HIGH. I think everyone thinks this might be the end!!! And of course the damn scalpers!!!
  2. Thanks, I just got back from Back of the Dragon in Marion with the S2000 club. Great roads in this part of the country, didn't think a "bike guy" would pass up the chance to check them out.
  3. Hell guys, they were on the Dragon!!! GREAT road and some awesome roads around that area. http://store.129slay...725DAVE5284.JPG http://store.129slay...796DAVE5279.JPG I am sure they had fun, hard not to up there weather looks nice!!
  4. So are they going with the A & B schedule for the second leg??
  5. The wife isn't a fan so not going but I am taking my son to the show in Raleigh, he is 10. He is a huge fan, every time we get in the car first thing is "Dad, put on Rush" and yes we regularly have adult conversations with him so he is well prepared.
  6. Be interesting to know so we can figure out the rest of the shows as well.
  7. In for Raleigh.....and more importantly a Friday night show, my son (10) is SOOOO in :dweez: .
  8. My son is 10 and we have been listening to CA in the car for a while now.....he really loves it, BUT!! He was trying to figure out the lyrics and really couldn't......well, awesome Dad to the rescue!!! I gave him the lyrics sheet and WOW! As soon as we get in the car now first thing he says is "can you put on Rush please?"......NICE! Only problem he has now is explaining to his friends that Rush is NOT Big Time Rush but WAY better and of course none of them have ever heard it before.
  9. I am in town and just called to make sure they and there equipment are here....we are good to go. I will be at Mortimers at about 4:00 or 4:30 for something to eat and a couple of beers. Should be at the bar with a long sleeve black S2000 shirt on.
  10. Just called guest services at the arena and we are ON!! Spoke to an actual person to boot. 5 hours and counting!!!!
  11. Sooo are we meeting at Mortimer's??? Looks good and obviously close, just walk across the street.
  12. QUOTE (GotPeart @ Oct 24 2012, 03:50 PM)I'm coming in from Cary/Apex. I am heading down from Wake Forest.
  13. QUOTE (Explorer67 @ Oct 24 2012, 03:47 PM)There are a lot of good hotels, bars, and restaurants near the arena. The Epicentre complex in just across the street and it has a lot of dining and drinking options. I suggest a place called Mortimer's. It's your basic pub and restaurant with good food. It's just down an alley a the Epicentre. You can also hop on the light rail heading south and there are a variety of other places just off the stops. Mortimer's looks good http://www.mortimerspub.com/ sounds like a plan to me.
  14. Hello All, I am heading to the Charlotte show next week and I see that Cleveland is two days earlier. Just curious as to Neil's route down south. I am in a Honda S2000 club and just got back from a trip here http://backofthedragon.com/ very fun road for sure. Not sure if roads like this are Neil's thing but I liked it because you can't really think about anything but driving/riding. Very quiet road, little traffic, unlike some other well know routes in the area and 55MPH speed limit to boot . The colors should be excellent as well this time of year in the mountains! Maybe he will check in here and check it out . Not endorsing or advertising for anything just passing it along.
  15. I am heading here for a couple of beers http://www.rockbottom.com/rbcharlotte/index.html before the show. Will probably be there several hours early. I am coming in from Wake Forest, NC earlier in the day. There is a thread here with a couple of people responded http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=73080 Maybe posting here will get a few more folks to see it.
  16. Please keep in mind bands used to make a much larger portion of there money from selling records. That has now changed and they make most of the money from touring and as a result the tickets are more expensive. That doesn't explain it all but a good bit of it. Kevin
  17. Hello All, I am heading to the show in Charlotte Oct 30th. Who else is going to be there? Drum Work-outs

I don't practice nearly enough that is for sure. I have been on an R30 kick as well lately. I skip around some but once warmed up some the Overture and Spirit of the Radio is a hard 12 minutes or so for me. I always go with the 10,000 hour rule. You have to practice something for at least 10,000 hours before you could be great at it. I have a long way to go and I am sure Neil has practiced WAY more then that, hell, he has probably played live more then that.
  19. Believe me guys when they played "La Villa Strangiato" as the encore he was getting on it and was REALLY good. And I am not saying that he is in any way falling apart but I think they were just right in that zone for R-30. Old enough to really get what they were doing but young enough and in the right shape physically to be at the best. I guess I am just hoping they keep going....at least long enough for me to be able to take my son to a show, he is 8. Kevin
  20. Hello All, Please don't let this degrade into another online bitch session. I am a huge Neil Peart fan as many of you are. I saw them in Greensboro, NC and really enjoyed the show. I have also started in the last six months to play the drums in a meaningful way. I am working on playing several songs from the R-30 DVD. To my question..... I actually stopped and watched the entire R-30 DVD and man they were really on there game. It is a long show and has to be physically demanding. I can say this at least from a drumming point of veiw, I have gotten down the opening instrumental and "Spirt of the Radio" and let me tell you I have worked up a good sweat from just those two songs. I am not out of shape, I run several days a week and also mountain bike a couple of days a week, and let me tell you if you don't play the drums you don't understand just of much work it is. After seeing them in Greensboro and I am sure a lot of others of you have seen them this tour as well..........SOOOO is Rush, or Neil, physically past its prime? Lets face it they are coming up on 60 years old and I can certainly attest to the older you get the harder it gets to stay in shape. Kevin
  21. I just looked at the one on ebay. That is only the accoustic side of the set. No telling what it would cost when you add in all of the electronics. Com'on lotto......Daddy needs a new drum kit . Kevin
  22. I remember seeing the entire R30 kit for sale for $22,000 but that was several years ago. I am sure they are sold out now and would only be available from a private seller. Kevin
  23. Hey it was nice meeting you guys at Greys. My wife isn't the biggest Rush fan but after last night she was asking questions most of the way home this morning. She asked if we could watch Behind the Lighted Stage becuase she wants to know more of there background. Trust me, for her that is BIG. Great show, the sound in the first set wasn't the greatest but like was said they seemed to work on it for the second set. I play the drums and thought I would see some little tricks or better ways to play seeing Neil live, but to be honest there isn't a better way, he is just that good. The guy is in his late 50's and absolutely kicks ass. Not sure if everyone realizes just how physically demanding playing like that for several hours is. I was in awe of the guy before just trying to play some of his music but when you see it live.....WOW. And after 2 hours or so to do la villa strangiato and KILL it....well what can you say. I talked to several people around me at the show that brought there kids all were about 13 to 15 or so. My son is 8 and he is PISSED that he didn't get to go. When we picked him up from his sleepover he was NOT happy that I had my Rush t-shirt on. I just hope they continue to tour so I will be able to introduce my son to live Rush. COM'ON R40!!!!!! Kevin
  24. QUOTE (traeplien @ Apr 1 2011, 08:22 PM)QUOTE (rushbabe @ Apr 1 2011, 06:36 PM) so far I have seen natty greens pub and grey's tavern as the meet up places. Any others? Also what time should I get there as far as parking goes? We're leaving Winston-Salem at 4:30 to be in the area by 5. I'm hoping that gives us enough time to eat/drink and park. I think we're going to try Grey's. Great review on Tripadviser. Looking forward to meeting some new Rush fans tomorrow. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Revi...h_Carolina.html We'll be at Greys around 4:30 or so. I am sure at the bar warming up for the show. Just watched R30 start to finish.......man I can't wait. I have a car meet tomorrow in the morning. Leading 20 cars on a nice drive should take up most of the day. Kevin
  25. QUOTE (Riv @ Mar 31 2011, 07:17 PM) QUOTE (mlc @ Mar 31 2011, 08:04 PM) QUOTE (Voyager1000 @ Mar 31 2011, 03:56 PM)Any good places close to the venue to grab an early dinner and a drink?.... and maybe meet a few Rush fans? We're coming from Raleigh and dont know the area. Hey we are heading in from Wake Forest and leaving here about 3:00 or so. We are going here for some pre-concert food http://www.greystavern.com/. Should be there about 4:30 or so. It is 2 miles form the coliseum. Post up if you are going to be there and maybe we can hook up. Kevin I was looking at that place for an after party..... I may be able to make it there pre-show...trying to get a decent hotel in the area. Good luck on the hotel....I have been looking online for a day. Didn't find anything closer then Burlington. Kevin
