  1. Yeah the Birmingham boot is the one I tend to go to when listening to Rush live from the Hold Your Fire tour. The only song missing is Limelight and it has been assembled from several sources to be a more complete concert experience from that era. Were any British subjects on this forum at that show? I think Rush said it was one of their best shows ever.
  2. It's only 20 bucks so I'll spring for it. 1968-1981? Early period fans begin to drool.
  3. I was just listening to it the other day and it is amazing how nostalgic it makes me feel. It captures that time period so well. I got it the day it came out and it was the perfect early birthday present. I turned 17 a couple of weeks later and saw them live for the first time the following month. It will always be cemented in my mind for that, but also because it is a real gem that I appreciate more with time. Even the weaker moments sound great to me now. I'm all fanboy for it.
  4. My Favorite Headache is Rush-like, but earthier for sure. I find no real fault with it and it is more better than Victor.
  5. The title of this thread says it all. I am always surprised to find old trivia that missed back in the day. Apparently on the original pressing of Signals Countdown had a one minute reprise of The Analog Kid at the end. I had the first pressing because I bought the vinyl the day it was released. If such a thing exists I certainly never heard about it until today. If I had to guess it may be from some sort of radio interview that was bootlegged, but who knows. No really, who knows? Did anyone else ever hear of this and by golly I know we aren't supposed to share such things, but if you have it fork it over already.
  6. These were all good, but this one just barely edges by the rest. Onward PM...
  7. Thanks, trying to keep a semi-winter sports / olympics theme. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/Preggers.jpg
  8. Seer he house lee, though, The Camera Eye is such an excellent Rush song and I really didn't appreciate it in the days when it was new so when they brought it back on the Time Machine tour I was so stoked.
  9. That's just lazy. He didn't deserve the full six feet. And the bitch was WRONG!
  10. 0_o You look quite a bit like my husband. lol Y'all got a good lookin' man.
  11. The best thing about it being so cold for so long down here is that the insect population will suffer greatly this year and perhaps I can get a little air in my lungs when I go outside this Summer without having to dodge gnats. It's been a lot cooler than usual and we are expecting snow and that will shut the city down and normally that would make Northerners laugh at us, but this year I can point to the absolute cluster fornication that happened when Atlanta got a dusting of the white stuff.
  12. It's always hard to pick any one song by this band. Del Amitri has reformed and is touring Europe and they are planning a live album after more than ten years apart. O please, O please, O please get over to this side of the pond and I will go to any show East of the Mississippi.
  13. I'm so spoiled. I have never had anything too bad happen. About the worst was in 1982 when The English Beat was opening for The Police. The crowd HATED them. Nobody threw anything, but they did get some boos. The first time I saw Rush, Rory Gallagher was opening and nobody was very rude, but he almost put the crowd to sleep. I saw Don Henley on his Inside Job tour in Nashville in 2000 or 2001. He was introducing a song about the UFO crash in Roswell, Arizona called "They're Not Here, They're Not Coming" (great song) and the intro about the supposed alien ship crash was going nowhere and I had probably had one too many and I yelled out "BULLSHIT" way louder than I meant to and the acoustics were very good and everybody in the place heard me and as the word echoed away Don raised his hand in my direction and said, "Thank you, sir." Everybody around me loved it and we all had a good a laugh. See, I'm spoiled. No really bad things at all to report.
  14. The Police August 17, 1982, Nashville, Tn I was 16 and had no idea what was going on. Girls were going crazy and I was sure Sting and Stewart Copeland were going to get into a fist fight at any moment. I was hooked on live shows for life after that. Within a few months of that concert I saw Rush for the first time as well as Genesis, Yes and a few other bands. Times were good.
  15. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/ASoldeirsTale.jpg Somewhat dated and 80s-ish, but not too shabby. It's a WhoDunIt and I had no clue for most of the movie and it didn't put me to sleep. And for the ladies it has a young and ripped Denzel Washington.
  16. the she-goatness that is known as Stevie Nicks was a terrible jump the shark moment so there is nowhere to go but UP. Jessica Lange says the next one is her final season, but they are making at least on more after that. Season 3 is at the bottom of the list. It had some good moments and I haven't given up on it yet. It is a nice distraction until OH HOLY COW WALKING DEAD IS COMING BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Back in the day (the old farts say) the rumors were that Geddy was shooting up heroine and that Neil was 41. This was 1982 when I first saw them live. That would make Neil in 70s and Geddy dead from an overdose. Don't listen to rumors.
  18. They played it on the Moving Pictures, Exit... Stage Left and Signals tours. My friend and I argued for years about if they shortened it or not on the Signals tour until I finally heard a bootleg years later and then I killed him and buried him in a shallow grave.
  19. The only stuff I would buy are songs that were never released, or songs that didn't make it onto Atwas, etc. You won't catch me buying fluffed-up, regurgitated material. They have to attempt to really be creative and release something with depth and sophistication. No chance of that happening! Got my one good eye on youse an' I best not catch you breakin' that oath or you will be forced to turn in yer Rush card.
  20. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/3xSelfie.jpg Well, I ain't got no Mustaine hair, but fer a dood pushin' 50 I got somthin' left. Man I look so good I couldn't choose just one.
  21. Kiss On My List - Hall & Oats Something About You - Level 42 Just Got Lucky - Jo Boxers Break Out - Swing Out Sister Borderline - Madonna Only The Young - Journey Oh Yeah - Yellow Life In A Northern Town - The Dream Academy Take It Away - Paul McCartney I could go on forever. The 80's were full of wonderful POP cheese.
  22. Steve Howe on Yours Is No Disgrace from Yessongs Alex Lifeson on By-Tor & The Snow Dog from All The World's A Stage Brian May on Dead On a Time from Jazz Robert Fripp on a number of songs Ry Cooder Dave Gilmour Notice how nobody can pick just one?
