  1. Duane era Allman's was the first thing that popped in my head with the Grateful Dead being second. Also agree that there was a lot of magic with the Warren/Derek ABB era. For me, I don't feel the 'magic' with bands who pretty much play the songs exactly like they are on the album. It's all rehearsed and planned. Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of those bands at well but not to the context of EP's original post. It's the bands that go into the free flowing jazz improvisation where nobody knows what's gonna happen next. Then the 'magic' happens when everyone listens to what everyone else is doing and everyone synchs up and adds in their moments to elevate the spiritual moments. Honorable mentions: Phish Gov't Mule with Allen Woody when they were a power trio Luther Dickinson era Black Crowes
  2. Debut album released 50 years ago today
  3. Got 4 day passes. Will be in section 102.
  4. The final Dead and Company tour is coming to a close. I think I've seen about 35 D&C shows. I decided to do a bunch of shows this tour with it being the last. But the band is on fire. Last few tours were good but not great. The Dead and Slow theme didn't inspire me much. But the band is on another level now. Anyways, went to the Bristow, VA show and made it to the 3 night run in Boulder. Was not at the Gorge, but will be in San Fran for the final 3 shows. Did want to add that the drone show in Boulder was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
  5. My thoughts exactly. Thanks for saving me the trouble of typing it out. Only exceptions would be 'bathroom break' (as I typically never have to go during a concert) and Time and Motion being my fave of T4E (Driven for me)

  12. Have seen them many times. One of the very few bands still out there that I will every time they are in town or within a 2 hour drive.
  13. A couple months ago, I saw a Pink Floyd laser show (no live band, just playing the albums) and part of the show included some of the 'Wizard of Oz' in the background.
  14. Saw the summer tour dates yesterday. Guessing I;ll probably be at the two Wilmington shows and the two Philly shows. Probably not too many as I'm already planning to hit the road with the 3 Boulder and the 3 Sanfran Dead and Co shows. Pretty sure I won't be heading up to MSG for summer but will probably be there New Years run
  15. Since when were the Grammy's ever about good music?? Jimi Hendrix never won a grammy, so in my mind, it is a sham.
