  2. I actually laughed when Luke was brushing a reed on Rey's hand and was all like "it's the force, you can feel it ooooh" Honestly it was good humor, I laughed when Luke threw the lightsaber off the cliff because of how dramatic the Force Awakens ended when Rey reached Luke, it was a funny anticlimax. All in all, I absolutely loved this film. But then again, characters are never that important to me. Even in my own writing, I don't write a plot to serve the characters, I write characters to serve the plot. In my opinion, the plot is metaphysical and can exist outside of the characters. They give it spice. You can have a film that has every character nameless and originless, and have a great film. A good example is Under the Skin with Scarlet Johanssen. Plot >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> characters
  3. Confirmed? Absolutely. And it took me a while to bring that to myself
  4. T: 5h 30m I cant contain myself. I've been watching Chris Stuckmenn's reviews all afternoon
  5. Miserlou should open the movie, seeing how the Beastie Boys were in Beyond's trailer
  6. Well said! I came to Rush via a metal band, Mastodon, giving Moving Pictures the highest praise. Not sure how anyone could fail to note that, particularly for the time period, the music is very metal. Even reading articles from the time, mthe "metal" tag is used a lot. Its not even an argument...just listen to Bastille Day for goodness sake! ...except that even by today's standards, everything is metal. Rush is heavy blues inspired progressive rock. Bastille Day may have been "heavy" for the time, but it isn't metal. Using that logic, bands like Nickelback and Disturbed would be metal as well. Which is far from the case. There's a fine line between "long hair man guitar solo dads drinking bud light anything that isn't 80s new wave or disco is metal" vs actual metal acts.
  7. Pipe organ. There are no other instruments that can capture beauty, power, order, and the human condition more powerfully and accurately than the pipe organ For reference
  8. That's EXACTLY how Geddy described it, too: This thread is from 7 years ago...
  9. Funny enough, everything before In Absentia is godwork. I could never really appreciate anything In Absentia onwards. I mean, it's great stuff, but not even close to the mastery on The Sky Moves Sideways, Signify or On the Sunday of Life
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ycgdj74oNwc At around 2:30 they have a recurring sound that originated here
  11. Canadians can't be superheroes, eh? I think their super power is being polite, right? :D Wrong, bitch! Haha! http://static.adweek.com/adweek.com-prod/files/imagecache/node-blog/blogs/ck-bieber-hed-2014.jpg Your pillow case cover? I may need to wash it

  13. You know for a dude who seems to be incredibly uncomfortable around his fans, it's only natural that he is because we have entire threads dedicated to pronouncing his name, which I have never heard mispronounced in my life
  14. I totally forgot about Shallow. I didn't think Sound of Muzak was a radio song actually As for Time Flies, I didn't think the shorter version was released past the music video

  16. Jokes aside, they're just regular dudes. Overanalyzing them as Gods is dumb. They have families, regular lives besides being in a band. We have threads regarding them as the holy Trinity every week and yeah, Rush is good, but come on theyre not superhumans, they're Canadian
  17. Delete this thread you racist bigot. Don't you know that Geddy Lee is a Nazi Commie????
  18. I chose Stranger by the Minute, but Waiting is a CLOSE second. Which "radio friendly" PT songs is the best EDIT: Forgot Trains :duh:
  19. He's gonna think this is mean but you did him a favor. Very brave and beautifully written. I just hope he takes it to heart and appreciates it.... It wasn't written to be mean, just to let him know what others are thinking. And that he can change that. In a related subject, I wonder how different my life would have been if I grew up with the Internet and the ability to chat with all sorts of different people. Maybe I would have learned more social graces sooner? Maybe I would have been less naive? Maybe I would have found some older people (old, like 30!) who could have given my very lost teenage self some guidance. The Internet is cool. Indeed it is. I found this place when I was 12 and I've been active ever since. But yet I still cant get into SOCN You mean you can't get into it as in, it's just not your thing? It's really not my thing. Too much arguing and too few open minds. Nono, I can't be in it as in I dont have access. I've PM'd 73 but he never replied. The first time you asked on the board, back when you were 14, I told you I thought you were too young for SOCN, and a few others agreed. Sixteen seems old enough. You're in. Remember when this was the most talked about thing on the Forum? Pepperidge farm remembers
  20. No. Rush has metalesque sections, but they aren't a metal band. Cygnus X-1 is certainly heavy, but not really metal. A good blend of hard rock and progressive rock. I hope Earl doesn't kill me
