  1. QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ Jun 4 2012, 01:05 PM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 4 2012, 09:54 AM)They can sing about Gumdrops and Rainbows for all i care, as long as the Music kicks ass Dude, Rush singing about gumdrops and rainbows would be AWESOME. Coming to a store near you in 2017.... Rush, Candy Land: the concept album. We aim to feast... in the temples of syrup! Geddy, Geddy, Gumdrops?
  2. Congrats GBR! The Wreckers is my fave after hearing the samples. I'm holding off on listening to the full album.
  3. The Wreckers, after hearing the clips (haven't heard the full album yet).
  4. Oops, just realized we missed a whole verse before the chorus, starting with So we just keep smiling, move onward every day
  5. Welcome! I also got seriously into Rush a couple years ago when I finally made it to a show! We were in the second to LAST row and I still fell in love, so don't worry about where your seats are - you're still about to have one of the best times of your life! Enjoy the show and the new album!
  6. Happy Birthday Queen - sounds like it was a great day!
  7. ((Hugs)) to you, treeduck. I used to cry a LOT, even in public, sometimes hysterically. I was a huge embarrassment to anyone I was with, I'm sure. Lately, though, I've been going through some drastic hormonal changes, and one effect has been that I've nearly stopped crying. I cried for about ten seconds at my uncle's memorial service, and to be honest, the last time I can remember before that was in December when my cat Aspen died, and I might have gotten teary over an issue I had with someone here slightly thereafter (but even then, there was much more anger than tears). I like the new me much better, even factoring in all the unwanted changes like losing my hair, gaining weight, etc. At least now I'm not gonna cry about it.
  8. I can't remember the exact wording, but it was something like, "No, I'm not too old. Your music really does suck."
  9. Think I clicked every day this week except for Friday and maybe Monday...
  10. A Smile As Big As The Moon - about a class of special needs kids who went to Space Camp. A great feel-good movie based on real events.
  11. Raised a little. I was already stoked, but my hair is standing up on end a bit more now.
  12. Thanks! This is my first album release as a serious fan, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it. I only wish I'd been paying this much attention the other 18-19 times!
  13. I'm a definite child of the 80's, love synth-era Rush the best, and am not a fan of modern rock, but I'm looking forward to CA and the shows I'm going to on this tour like you can't believe. I also think that even my least favorite Rush album is still darned good. Why? Because Rush is a timelessly fabulous band. There's a reason they've been around for forty years and are still going. So, yes, I'm definitely one to accentuate the positive when it comes to Rush, but I don't think one necessarily has to be a modern rock fan in order to do it. *adjusts legwarmers*
  14. Of all the music out there, Geddy's voice and Rush's music are still what I want to hear most, to the extent that I'm stoked for the new album and the shows I'm going to. That's the only standard that I care about!
  15. My first impressions... Caravan - already familiar BU2B - Ooo, the new into is cinematically foreboding, and a little Indian (India) sounding. CA - love the synth. Laugh if you want, but it reminds me a little of the intro to Savage Garden's Fly Me To The Moon and Back. Obviously, it's going to go somewhere a lot more rocking Anarchist - killer bass and drums here Carnies - reminiscent of Brighton Rock by Queen Halo Effect - So 2112-ish that I could swear part of it was lifted from that song! Then an acoustic-y feel like S & A Seven Cities - FUNKY! Can't wait to see where they go with this. Wreckers - sort of Armor & Sword-ish HLF - already familiar BU2B2 - wow, more cinematic foreboding-ness a la the new into to BU2B! Makes my hair stand up on end! Wish Them Well - standard rock for what I thought could be one of the heaviest topics of this album. The Garden - another where I can't wait to hear where it's going. To sum up, I love how this album pulls from other Rush songs old, recent, and even within this same album, has moments that remind me of other favorite bands, yet sounds compltely fresh for both Rush and music in general. A definite sense of being on edge waiting to find out where the story is going (and what Geddy's vocals are going to sound like, since we only get a smidge of them here, and they're always a highlight for me)!
