  1. Took this one at the Arctic Monkeys show at the Great American Music Hall a couple days ago, forgive the grainy image, it was from my camera phone.

  2. Only took 1 pic because my phone is starting to get filled up with pictures, but last night at the Arctic Monkeys @ The Great American Music Hall was great. This place is small, only holding 600 people, so it was like seeing this really huge band in The opening band, The Spinto Band was kinda on the mellower side, but all the guys in that band were really getting into the music so it made it very enjoyable. Once Arctic Monkeys got on though, everyone started pushing up to the front. The crowd was very into the music, pushing and shoving to get to the front the entire time. Though it didnt quite live up to the hype in my opinion (which has been set so high that I dont think any band could do that), it was still an incredible show. A friend of mine got a drumstick, another got a setlist, I got a limited edition lithograph they made for the show (#43 of 100).

Heres my one picture when the singer came over to where I was standing and sung in the mic with the bass player

Can you believe that people were lined up at 11am outside to see this show, and that people were trying to buy scalped tickets for over $100?? It was a $15 ticket.

  3. I love how its finally a fresh idea in television today. All too much you see shows rehashing already spent ideas with a different twist reflecting todays pop culture, you never see shows like this one do something truely original.

    Oh wait......

Even though I hate reality shows I'd check this one out once.  Still, no amount of kick ass makeup will make one know what it's like to be another race.

While that's true, there are things like a white man walking down the street and shopping where everyone thinks he's a black man and seeing how he's treated differently. Then there's a black man who dressed as a white man got a job as a bartender in a very white neighborhood and heard people talking about black people while they thought he was white. I think it will certainly give these people at least a sense of what it's like anyway, more so than just hearing people talk about race. It's definitely a pretty radical concept anyway...

A concept that Eddie Murphy originally thought up for SNL over 20 years ago, lol. Seriously though, it is actually a good idea for a show, and an interesting direction, but I kinda feel that they are overdramatizing the cultural divide between blacks and whites, especially with so many other minorities on the rise. Then again that could just be my reaction from living in San Francisco, where ethnic culture is so much more diverse then most other regions of the US.

  5. Thats the reason you dont see Walmarts in any kind of close proximity to a major city, because they have found thier niche at moving into small towns and being able to supply everything for everyone. Sure this may be great for you as the consumer, but what it really hurts is all the local business's that have to close shop because all of their customers are shopping at a Walmart. This becomes an extremely unhealthy thing for competitive business in small towns. New businesses will find it much more difficult to start up and hold on to a customer base as Walmart continues to grow bigger and bigger.

Unless you like the idea of one giant mother corperation supplying you with all your daily necessities and having total control over what you can and cant own.

i think beutiful mind deserved to win..i fell asleep during lord of the rings..aha

And im like the biggest movie nerd ever..when i fall alseep in a movie its never good.

How could you fall asleep during any of the LOTR films? I mean, even if you put it on mute, the cinematography is amazing, which should be enough anyway. I mean, I take classes in screenwriting, and a direction/cinematography, so maybe I have a little more depth in the subject, but still; I can't think of anyone 'falling asleep' during it.

I went to see LOTR with a group of 5 friends when the movie first came out, and 2 of them fell asleep. Personally I couldnt look away from the screen, I was enthralled. I have a feeling though it wasnt the movie that put them to sleep.... cool10.gif

  7. More info for iPod users. If you have a windows operating system, there is a program I have found which allows you to transfer music from your ipod back to your itunes library or into a seperate folder on your computer. Very handy if you like having a backup copy of your music and have to reformat or get a new computer. Anyway if you are interested, check out http://www.copypod.net

Note though, you only get a 14 day free trial before you have to pay for the the program, so if you dont want to pay, save using this until you absolutely need it.

Roger is touring in the Summer.
For all you Irish fans, he's coming to the Showgrounds in Cork June 29th!!!!

Not to mention Robert Plant and Roxy Music too.

    Gonna be a great summer!!!

So far no North American tour dates are scheduled, but you can bet that there will be NOTHING stopping me from catching him when he comes around. According to this Roger Waters Tour website, he will be playing all of Dark Side Of The Moon. I do hope he decides to throw in a fair chunk of Amused To Death material as well, that album tops almost every piece of Pink Floyd work in my opinion.

Normally my workout music is to classical music, we have a pianist for my dance classes that keeps everything together.  Much more condusive to dancing then recorded music which cant adapt to how the situation goes.

    how cool!

  13. QUOTE (D-13 @ Feb 7 2006, 04:22 PM)
Yeah i'm pretty bummed out.  They are only coming to Orillia and the age there is 19 for casinos.  It doesn't show what venue it's at yet but most of the concerts have been held in small halls or casinos so far across the states...  Thats in August. I turn 19 in September. One freaking month away....grrrrr angry.gif

When I went to go see Nine Inch Nails in Reno, the concert was inside the Hilton's casino floor. The line to get into the place stretched out across the casino floor, but there didnt seem to be any kind of security checking to make sure people werent underage in line. I remember seeing a few teenagers in line and they werent thrown out, keeping in mind you have to be 21+ in Neveda to gamble. As long as you dont stray out of the line to the show to go to the slots, I dont see there being any problem. Then again, I dont know how the Canada works in those kinds of situations, but I dont think it would be much different.

If nothing else, call the venue and ask them if you have to be 19+ to get into the show.
