  3. Rush- Signals Rush- Grace Under Pressure Rush- Power Windows Rush- Hold Your Fire It's crazy to me how much I love these albums, but to crazily varying degrees. I NEVER get hooked on Power Windows, but I greatly enjoy it when I play it. I think I love HYF more than I actually do, and I love Signals way more than I realise, and I think Grace Under Pressure is utterly flawless and one of their greatest achievements. Great stuff, as expected.

  5. I have found many albums and artists that I never would have listened to, through this site! I love the sound of this album both sonically and her voice. The conversational pieces throughout the album make it feel like I'm part of the scene.

  12. I didn't really listen to Rush for about 10 years. When I came back into the fold and revisited all the old stuff, Signals was the one that stood out immediately.

  15. Genesis - Invisible Touch (gotta be their catchiest record, cuz I keep having to put it back on to hear something from it that gets stuck in my head) Gojira - From Mars To Sirius (first time listen, okay, yeah, I can see how this is better than the two I’ve heard, fair enough. This is pretty stellar holy cow) Mastodon - Leviathan (there’s a bit in, I think in Hearts Alive, where they totally play a straight up Iron Maiden sounding riff, just noticed that. Sick) Queen - A Day At The Races (in any other band’s catalogue this would be my favorite album from them, no questions asked)

  18. I just watched that last night. Unstable is hilarious, just as good as Parks and Recreation. "Tom Sawyer" plays during a scene when the world's best tree trimmer arrives to cut some branches that nobody else can handle. The other Mexican gardeners look on in awe, including Rob Lowe. Truly a modern day warrior, mean mean stride.

  23. My first two Rush concerts ever were in 1983 on back to back nights in Hollywood Florida.....I have flashes of each show....I was 13. It was a long time ago. I was able to go with my friends older brother who drove to both shows. Total cost for my two tickets both nights? 22 bucks. Man......those were the days. I wish I was able to see the Waves and Pictures tours as well.....this was their absolute prime and height of popularity in the “mainstream”. Coming off Moving Pictures Rush was huge. And then they did a very progressive thing.....they chose to find new sonic landscapes and that is why I loved them so much. They always took risks. And long term it paid off big time. The catalog is so diverse.....and Signals was the start of that 180 but it really took form on Grace Under Pressure. Signals aged the absolute best of all their post Pictures albums. Hands down. That creamy warm, analog sound was still in-tact. And yes...Terry Brown simply had the magic touch with them behind the console. I loved Peter Collins work with them as well....but Terry was the man with Rush’s sound in the studio. Oh how I wish we could have gotten something of a live document from Signals Tour on this 40th set.....that is the biggest disappointment from such a critical time tested album in their peak creative phase.

  30. Admittedly, I'm not a world-class musician, so I don't know what they would find "embarrassing," but how could it be so bad they'd worry about their fans' reactions? The only people buying something like archival material are already in the church, so to speak; we're not going to turn on Rush because they came in at the wrong time on "New World Man," or because Geddy sang the second verse of "Freewill" twice. It's odd because one of the things that's probably made them great is they were more concerned with making something they liked first, and only then worrying about how "popular" it would be, but at a moment like these releases, when their active career is over and all we have left are the memories, thinking of how they come across (if that is a factor) seems unnecessary and too prideful.
