  7. Such a loss, a lovely voice and great songwriting. Always thought she got pushed into the shadows because everyone was so fixated on Stevie but she was the driver of that group, a main reason they gained so much popularity. Been listening to her all day, so sad. RIP

  14. Tangentially related but I’m pretty sure when Hetfield cites Queen as an influence he’s mainly referring to one song of theirs, “Stone Cold Crazy,” which is credited by many as the first speed metal song before speed metal existed. Pretty sure they did a cover of it at some point. Also, just a general thing, Queen’s production techniques, especially on their early records with Roy Thomas Baker, were pretty influential on the industry as a whole. The production effects and overall quality they achieved on their best studio recordings were often light years ahead of their peers in the 70s. So any band with much commercial success going forward (e.g. Metallica) is more than likely to have listened back through a few Queen records for examples of how to do, for instance, clear and powerful backing vocals, or how to use effects like phasers and flangers effectively, or best practice for overdubbing things in general.

  15. World Cup on fire today. Two big hitters out. No sympathy for Belgium who repeatedly failed to understand that you need to score goals in this game. But a bit sorry for Germany who went on the strength of an unusual result. I am only going on reports as surprise suprise I failed to see any games. St. Thomas today so once again I will be playing catch up later. Enjoy the games ya'all.

  16. Pantera-Cowboys from Hell (8/10) OK so i'm not the bands biggest fan but this is a mighty album no denying and the influence it spread. I hear ZERO Priest though. Like the first track.....the title song was honestly closer to a G n R groove. BUT......fukk the comparisons anyway. they made their own genre. i'm enjoythis more this time round by the way. i do respect these guys........ Mick

  24. First, get on board with Strange New Worlds it is TOS with the sophistication and production values of TNG. SNW does Trek progressivism without being insufferable woke. Also do Lower Decks if you enjoy animated comedy, it seems crafted for TOS, TNG, DS9 fans. It might take two episodes until you love it. The rest is mostly different degrees of garbage.

  27. I don't hear either of those things. Get your ears checked by a professional something might be wrong 😄 The stuff Halford did on those solo albums is in the same vein as Priest.

  34. Pantera- Coboys From Hell Machine Head and Lamb Of God lead me here. Have never been a fan until now. I loved every dark second of this! Also, who hear knows anything of their music before this? Their glam metal stuff...sounds wild...but it's not bad 🤣 But this album is breathtaking. It's like a less shrill Painkiller.
