  3. The person may have too much time on their hands but they also have a good musical ear to notice that they could mash these songs up and actually make it work.

  4. I just stumbled upon this Metallica/Men At Work mash-up (with a little bit of Judas Priest thrown in for good measure!) I thought you good folks might enjoy it!

  6. I remember buying Sonic Temple, pretty much on the strength of the first single Fire Woman, when I was little more than a foetus. At the time, I reckon they were considered more rock than The Cure and less dark than The Sisters of Mercy, so almost in the gothic/indie genre... but for me, they`re pretty much mainstream. Other than She Sells Sanctuary I`m not sure I`d be able to offer up many tracks. Oh, and I believe I speak for the forum in saying I`m deeply moved... nay honoured, to see you post outside SOCN.

  7. I recently read a joke that went something like this. "My wife and I told our kids they were adopted and the first thing they wanted to know was who were their birth parents." I replied, "We're your birth parents. Your adopting parents will be here soon."

  9. Grim Reaper is literally the cheesiest metal you could ever hear. I'm surprised they weren't sponsored by Kraft 😄

  10. Death- Scream Blood Gore Death are impossible to dislike. Amazingly I thought for a long time, until around four years ago, that they only had two albums. Keep meaning to check them out, but this is terrific. Death have a lot in common here with bands I really enjoy like Kreator or Mekong Delta. I'm going to have fun with this. This debut is definitely excellent thrash.

  15. I think a helmet somewhere on a shelf or on the floor with a map spread out (like a rug) would include a huge part of his life. (Not ignoring family and friends and challenges of being away - just saying the road and seeing so many of his self-shots on the bike with that big dark helmet would be great to see).

  19. That's a little bit too loud. Can you say it just a little less loud than that?

  20. Well a band I like is Aeternam from Israel. They have a mystical, middle-eastern style, with clean and death vocals.

  23. Rush- Vapor Trails (original) Rush- Hold Your Fire I really don't like the remix of VT. Sorry/not sorry. It's as flawed as the original and its flaws are less appealing to me. The original has a messy production but the searing, white heat of the production really drives the emotionality of the songs home for me. Could be improved, but so far it hasn't. Hold Your Fire remains a stunning album, but I definitely feel these days that I favour (as I think I always did, honestly) Grace Under Pressure from this era.

  30. Whatever makes this technically a 2112 tour show, this is a CoS show. not one 2112 tune played and virtually the same set list as the previous tour (from available sources) Regardless of where ITIGB fits in the oeuvre, it's fantastic to hear this one and only example of it being played live. This unearthing ranks up there with the Northampton broadcast and all the others that people have mentioned. Really hope to get a copy of the full show. If anyone snags it, I would love to get a wetransfer of it from some generous member

  36. Confessions of a Recovering Engineer I am a civil engineer. I've been taking more and more of an interest in transportation issues and the problems of the status quo of design practices in recent years. This and other resources have helped me question my own profession, and help determine what types of infrastructure I want to help design and build.

  39. Finished Death without Company and getting to the suspenseful part on Sacred Bridge...it's so nerve wracking I want to read it but had to put it down for a day or two. One of the main characters is getting into a undercover situation and I am scared it's going to go badly.
