  1. I am so broken up about this. At first I thought it was an Internet hoax. I loved that man so much, even more than Dave Grohl. He was a kind, gentle soul and one of the hardest working musicians in the business. He influenced so many of his peers and inspired thousands of kids to buy a drum kit. He had so much energy, was always smiling, and larger than life. His Instagram posts always cheered me up whenever I was having a bad day. The music industry has lost a wonderful man. I feel so bad for Dave. This is the second time he's lost a close friend and bandmate. RIP Taylor, forever in our hearts. :rose:

  2. People will argue about decriminalization, legalization and taxation, blah blah blah….I don’t care. One of the greatest threats to our society is still drugs. Legal, illegal, pharmaceuticals, street drugs….they are a cancer to us all.

  3. This is so sad, I was afraid it would be drug related, like Tom Petty too many medications at once. I really feel for his family, 3 children without a dad now.

  4. REO Speedwagon- Hi Infidelity (first time listen...kinda) Well, I really enjoyed this! Iron Maiden- Number Of The Beast (11/10) Remember when I said this was OVERRATED? Shoot me. Iron Maiden- Piece Of Mind (10/10) It's a step down from Number but absolute perfection. f**k it. Love it. Impregnate it. BEAUTIFUL!

  5. I don’t want to make assumptions about cause of death. If it’s all of those drugs, if it’s a random heart attack, it’s still a tragedy.

  6. i've grown to like them a lot in the last couple years. as others have said i never thought the music they made was special and it really isn'y per se. it's a bit on the faceless generic side.......UNTIL you pair it with the live shows. unbelievably charasmatic live band. My fav album is probably Echoes,Silence Patiance & Grace. RIP Taylor Mick

  7. The final medical reports aren't in yet. He is reported to have also had an enlarged heart.

  8. Just a quick internet search says that two of those drugs can be used as treatment for insomnia. A serious doctor f**k up indeed if these were prescription meds. If this was something avoidable and not just some random medical episode than this death is ten times more tragic than it already is.

  10. personally the only TOST threads i'd ever care to ever look back on are the absolute oldest ones which are already deleted, and even then i honestly probably wouldn't bother either. if it helps the board to the delete more recent ones as well then i say go for it Are there some fun and interesting discussions in them? Interactions with people no longer around? Sure but if a cost/benefit analysis was done you’ll find deleting them makes sense. yes there's still threads with polarizeme and homesickalien interactions for example and neither of them will be coming back Such pessimism

  11. I just logged in and saw the thread - I was watching tv early this morning - mtv or something - multiple FooFighters videos - By video #3, I switched channels because Everlong makes me sad (my ending marriage) but otherwise thought nothing of it. Now I know why.... Goddammitt, this is INSANE! Well, just F**K :(!!! To the Foo Fighters - the band members and their families, their friends, their fans - I am so sorry. RIP, Taylor :rose:

  12. So far today I've only listened to the first disc of this, which honestly is perhaps the most personal and emotionally charged album in the Foos discography. The playing, especially on the opening 1-2-3 punch of In Your Honor, No Way Back, and Best Of You... is intense. It's real.

  13. Mentioned before, but always worth retelling. Summer of '69, I'm working a summer job for Detroit Parks & Rec. at a golf course in a large park. The front 9 holes and the back 9 are separated by a pathway of 150 yards. If you so desired, you could choose to play 9 holes on the back 9. I would sit in a shack and assign tee times to players, up to a foursome. I get a call over the intercom from Chris, the club Pro, who says "put me down (reserve) a slot for 1:15. And when we get there don't say anything!" Ok, no biggie. 1:10 rolls around, this built up brother saunters up, sweaty polo shirt, cargo shorts, sweaty visor, beat up pair of spikes, says, "I'm with Chris". I nod and carry on. He turns aside, I see his profile and it hits me. It's Lem Barney, at that time a cornerback for the Lions. I hear a group of voices talking and laughing, the rest of the foursome; Chris the Pro in font. The pair behind Chris are all color coordinated-golf sweaters, slacks, spikes, McGregor golf bags, just stylin' and profilin'. One in red and white, the other in lavender and white. I look up and HOLY SHIT, the guy in red is Motown legend William "Smokey" Robinson, and HOLY f***ing SHIT, in lavender is Marvin Gaye. Chris says, " PJ, what's up"? Remembering his warning, I nod and say, "Gentlemen, the 10th tee is yours." Hell, I think I was to stunned to say anything else!

  15. You have the most petty reasons to discredit artists lmao Well, sometimes a name just sounds awful and turns you off immediately. Why would I listen to a band who chose such a terrible name like Death Cab For Cutie or Panic At The Disco? Well if they were f***ing good it wouldn't matter but they're shit so they're well named.

  17. Savatage- The Wake Of Magellan (9/10) Savatage- Poets And Madmen (9/10) I forgot how much I love Savatage. It's been five minutes since I last played them. SHOCK! These are the two albums I've played the least, I love getting to them. PaM is especially brilliant

  18. There`s often chatter about Anagram (for Mongo) not being a career highlight. It was probably more fun to write than it is for us to listen to. The lyrics are kinda fun to read, even if they're not true anagrams. Some of the lines are clever, like "There's tic toc in atomic," but as song lyrics they're awful. And they're made worse by the music, which was mailed in and has no life whatsoever.

  19. That's pretty much my experience too. They are so good live and Grohl is a fantastic front man. He's enthusiastic and interacts with the crowd a lot. I mean how many bands at that level invite people from the crowd to come on stage to play? I couldn't imagine Geddy Lee actually talking with someone in the crowd and getting security to escort a guy on stage to play the bass in a song.

  22. I've been sorry, to hear, see, and read this. I haven't been a big, and or huge "Foo Fighters" fan, but like some of their songs, and they have earned my respect. No matter how Taylor passed away from, and what happened to him, he will be, and is missed, and remembered. What his family, friends, band, and group must be feeling, and experiencing. My condolences, sympathies, and thoughts to them. R.I.P., Taylor.

  25. I have always been on the fence about this band, at least I was until recently. I don't think FF are anything truly special, but what they are is consistently enjoyable with some great songs. They are one of the best bands I've ever seen live, so at least in terms of stage performance, I regard them as almost peerless. I own nearly all their albums, my favourite being the underrated Sonic Highways.

  26. The recent Dee Gees stuff is hysterically good. I'm not a disco guy by any stretch, but I feel Studio 54 when I play those Foo covers loud. LMAO. Perfect Bee Gees cover songs.

  27. I saw The Who farewell tour in 1989. It was great (Tommy and Simon Phillips killing it on the drums) but I refused to see any of the farewell tours after that... lol We went to see them in 1982 because it was a farewell tour! Seriously, they said that. If I ever see Pete Townsend he owes me $30.00. :P

  28. Reported 10 substances found in his room. Among the drugs found by a urine toxicological test performed by officials were marijuana, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants and benzodiazepines, the statement said. An exact cause of death was not announced, and the National Institute of Forensic Medicine continues to investigate, the attorney general said. Not that it really matters at this point. If these were prescribed, his doctor should be sued into oblivion knowing his history. Brings me back to when my ex died after years of addiction. Died in her sleep with enough junk in her system to take down a horse, including xanax and oxycontin. Cleaning out her house I found 4 months of prefilled out scripts for oxy even though she'd been to rehab. f***ing doctors.

  32. Saw Taylor backstage at the Nokia for S/A. He was pumped to meet NP. He corralled Danny Carey, Brad Wilk and Chad Smith and said “it’s time to meet the professor!” - he didn’t sound boisterous though - he was nervous. He was a true artist and inspiring as a drummer - living the dream, as well as writing his own songs and performing them. I thought the Foo Fighters got pretty stale after Wasting Light - but every time Taylor was featured in any way it the group gained so much authenticity. He was the soul of that band no question.

  35. In 1989 I went with my parents and former husband to Denver to see a couple of hockey games. Our local hockey team the Golden Eagles were playing the Denver Rangers. It also happened that Marcel Dionne was there that night ( he had just retired from the New York Rangers that year). My mom wanted to get his autograph and he let us take his picture after the game. The next night the Denver team were giving out team photos and you could get them autographed. I'll never forget this (it was even better than meeting Dionne) here was my mom standing in line in her Golden Eagle jersey to get their autographs. One of the players chuckled and said you are in the wrong line, wrong team. They all laughed at that, then Mom grinned and said no I'm not, I'm a hockey fan and I know good players when I see them. Their goalie Mike Richter (who went on to win a Stanley Cup with the NY Rangers in 1994) grinned and said, I like you. Come on over here and I'll sign your picture. She ended up getting all of them to sign it and take her picture with them too. So cool..she's the reason I am a hockey fan. Love my Mom and I miss her lots.

  36. Hard for me to know what to say. Having had a long term illness a bit ago I can understand the inner strength it takes to endure, which Lorraine had plenty of. She was such a part of the matrix interwoven in TRF. Her memory here is what will keep her with us. :rose:

And now for something completely different - a man with a tape recorder up his brother's nose. Now, when I've got these antlers on - when I've got these antlers on I am dictating and when I take them off :moose: I am not dictating. Mynd you, moose bites Kan be pretty nasti. :outtahere: I'm up to here with it, I'm sick to death. I can't take you any longer so I've come to see it. :rage: Yes, well, what we normally suggest for a beginner such as yourself is that you put your alarm clock back ten minutes in the morning, so you can wake up, look at the clock and use the phrase immediately. :givebeer: Well, I feel that they have missed the whole point of my disease. :spitwater: :sigh: If you want to get anything done in this country, you've got to complain till you're blue in the mouth. Good, well lets have a look at it, shall we? Oh damn, damn, damn, damn... damn this wretched bag... oh the wretched, damn, bloody, little bag. It's the one thing I hate about being a doctor - it's this wretched bloody little bag! :boohoo: How much do you want for that briefcase? Not for sale, what does that mean? Did you kill all the guards? They cost fifty pounds each. :bitchslap:

  47. It might be true, but I definitely wouldn't trust Wiki yet. Wiki removed any mention of an overdose, from what I can tell. The more I think about, I can't imagine he would go back to doing that. That would be a big surprise. They were supposed to play tonight in Bogata, Columbia, with one more gig in South America Sunday night before a one-month break. Unreal....
