Without question for me it's the first record. If the first record sucks I have rarely given a group a second try. Sometimes other records are better than the first I heard My first and still fave Genesis-trick of the tail Megadeth- peace sells Rolling stones- some girls Dream theater- I&W Talking heads - remain in light Public enemy- nations of millions Red hot chile peppers- uplift mofo party plan Between the buried and me- colors Etc etc etc Others I can't recall what I heard first but in general: The younger they were the harder they rocked Last records are rarely if ever the best Usually the more a records sells, the more it sucks. Of course there are exceptions.2 points

Glad John's back but I still think Josh's 2 albums are good stuff. I hope Frusciante stays put now though all the same. I really dug The Getaway. You could hear what Josh added to the band more clearly and there were some absolutely excellent songs, Goodbye Angels especially. Plus Danger Mouse was a refreshing guest in the producers chair. Sorry, Rubin fans, after BSSM I just can't get fully on board with him behind the boards anymore. I absolutely love The Getaway - I don't consider any song to be filler on that one.2 points

I guess which albums have the most memorable songs are the ones I like the most. Good lyrics are just a bonus, they rarely have an effect on how much I like the album or song.2 points

Simple for me - when I`m scanning across my CDs, which ones do I always feel like I could listen to? There are very few that meet that criteria. Some records might be suited to a mood or triggered by something you read, but the records which I always enjoy and want to hear - whether I`m in the car, gardening, decorating, in a good mood or sulking, whatever - are the true great ones.2 points

Arrested Development, from the beginning, hoping to get more from Seasons 4 & 5 this time.2 points

Yeah, I guess it's Megadeth for the reasons Entre outlined above; just a greater consistency and level of interesting across a longer body of work. Two totally different moods though -- I'd hardly ever be holding a CD in each hand and asking which to pop in to play.2 points

Dang, I thought Family Guy was generally unfunny but I found that really funny! By the way, lead singer from Asia was also lead singer from much cooler if much less popular UK, and previously lead singer for much much cooler and much more acclaimed (but still less popular) King Crimson, during the best phase of their career if you ask me. Yes John Wetton may have been more of a pop loyalist at heart, but his work with the big KC was inspired. If you find Family Guy unfunny then your sense of humor is way too serious lol. I mean I've never really watched much of it. It just never seemed like it might appeal much to me. But if there's more like that I'd give it a shot! Just start from the beginning. They cover it all with their humor. They can make you laugh with a smart joke just as much as they can with a dumb one. They poke fun at everything and have many halarious cutaway gags like in the clip it posted.2 points

It really should just be called the Pop Culture and Music Hall of Fame. They indulge us by including some rock.2 points

doing a quick runthrough of Sport of Kings earlier and was just thinking about how Play With The Fire is one I'm surprised I forget about so often. And of course you gotta listen to Embrujo first. Any Rik instrumental is worth your time This...goes without saying.2 points

Love it; can't wait to see it - it's been a long time coming! One of my very favorite bands (saw them 3 times last year!)2 points

There's a band called Asia? Just kidding, I knew that already but that's how little they are on my radar. Megadeth all the way.2 points

Here's the thing. Though I haven't heard all of their discography, the general consensus I've read everywhere is that Asia never made another album even close to as good as their debut. I have heard Alpha, and it's decent, but it loses all of the proggy goodness of the debut and replaces it with nothing, you just get shorter, less detailed pop songs. If Asia had even two more albums that were each a B or a B+ next to the debut's A, this would be a difficult choice. As it stands though, Megadeth, though wildly inconsistent at certain points in their career, have hit their stride more often than not and made at least 3 (perhaps as many as 6) stone cold metal classics, plus a bunch of other great stuff like Endgame and Dystopia. There's just more great Megadeth music than Asia music to go around, and the best Megadeth is every bit as good as the best Asia, albeit in a different way. Now I need a Dave Mustaine cover of Heat Of The Moment just to make everyone cringe.2 points

Regatta has my two favorite Police songs, but Zen is a better album overall. However, since I came into the Police when Synchronicity dropped that one is always going to have a soft spot.2 points

Play With The Fire is an awesome Triumph song. On a so-so album. Don't Love Anybody Else but me..... I have more than a feeling that I've heard that riff before.2 points

i feel like i'm the only one who loves ministry, lol oh well.......but yea awake is a great album.......but 6:00.......REALLY DUDES????!!!! I do love Endless sacrifice......but if they had to pick a ToT song i'd rather have In The name Of God. Yea trancending time is one of my fav songs from then in a few years. i hope it gets swapped in. Mick I wouldn't be surprised if that was Portnoy's intention some of the time. I just can't shake those interviews James gave years later about the unfair pressure and criticism he received from Portnoy, as if Mike could sing their stuff any better himself. Then again, it could also just be that they've naturally started getting less and less out of the jams and more and more out of the vocal sections.1 point

I mean… that’s the entire point of the RRHOF, to make people have those exact conversations. It’s part of why they suck so much, but I do understand that’s part of their basic marketing strategy, to just get people talking regardless if it’s positive or not.1 point

Tom Waits-Mule Variations (10/10) My very fav Waits album. and it was like over 20 years into his career. to me this album just has everything i love about Waits in one package. Weird oddball stuff. heartbreaking ballads, blues, rock. this album is like a career summation. Perfect. taking a break now before the final 4 albums. Mick1 point

I never had a problem with labrie either. though i guess if portnoy had his way you guys wouldn't have had to deal with him after Six Degrees. granted he's not my fav singer but i never had a adverse reaction to him like some. he really in the portnoy years didn't sing too much, lol under Mike P they were closer to a jam band live. Dang, that's cold. I remember a -30F day in Spokane when it hurt to breath waiting for the bus. Don't miss that. Minus 30 is no picnic either. Supposedly, a warming trend is on it's way here. The cold weather wears one down, and machinery keeps breaking down as well. The duty cycle protocol handbook has been stained via impromptu coffee breaks. The animals are stressed. Yesterday, there were 4 horses running down the highway near town. Today, we saw dozens of deer and several coyotes out in the harvested fields where the snow wasn't as deep. The weather is so extreme and unpredictable. Hang in there Goose! Well, it'll be sunny and 50F today here. I'll be golfing with friends1 point

Just announced in our school district, parents will now decide whether their children wear masks at school. Teachers and guests must continue masking. Imo, elementary teachers should have the option to remove their mask during direct instruction. Lip reading and facial expression are important to young learners.1 point

Some relief up on the western shore of Lake Superior. The nights have been -30 for so long (debate the difference between Fahrenheit and Celsius, with a bit of wind, hardly much difference) I just dreaded looking at the thermometer holding a cup of coffee every morning. But chilly, yes, and now expecting some relief for a week or so. There is a Dog!!!1 point
