  1. Thank you one and all. It was a very quiet celebration this year, a simple solo steak dinner and extra treats for Rocky, who took it as an ordinary day. A small amountof rain, Fred sort of petered out between here and the Keys, so now we wait on Grace to roll in. A simple but happy birthday.

  2. God bless you, Rhyta, for your thoughtful post. All I can say is, I'm willing to put up a fight, but for what? I'm 67. I've lived my life already. Even if the chemo should happen to rid me of cancer for now, it will probably leave me with other physical problems that I do not currently have, and I would be willing to bet that somewhere down the line, the cancer would return with a vengeance. But, again I say - fight for what? If I were younger, yes - I would do it. But my best years are over. All that lies ahead is getting older and more sickness. i don't want to become like the old ladies I see clinging to a life that no longer has any quality. The only thing that matters really is that whatever you do, you are as comfortable with it as you can be. I think your reasoning is absolutely sound and without being too morbid, I`ve always thought that if you can have a period of time with full mental health and clarity of thought before the thing that happens to every living thing happens... then honestly... well, I can understand how you are thinking and feel I might be in a similar state of mind. But that isn`t to say I wouldn`t be looking at everything from chemo to a witch doctor first. Whatever you decide, you need to know everything there is to know about all the choices and make any decision based on that. We`ll all be supportive and proud of you whatever that is

  3. In relation to the 40th Anniversary of Moving Pictures, I'm very much hoping for a big, deluxe edition to the concert tour that became EXIT...STAGE LEFT. I know there's a Moving Pictures post regarding this, but 'EXIT' was really my entrance into RUSH; both the album & ESPECIALLY the video. I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video concert since first seeing the MTV Saturday night concert in December of 1982. I've said this before, just hoping for the lost footage to be found; for a complete video concert.

  6. We almost always squash new members who join and use their first post to advertise something. In this case, seeing as he's not selling these items and is only looking for paid postage, we'll keep it out here for now. The usual common sense warnings, though -- if you're interested in these mags, since AWW is brand new here and we don't know him, use caution when giving out personal info. AWW, how about a photo showing all 18 mags? We reserve the right to remove this thread at a later date if we change our minds about having it out here.

  9. The Wall is far and away my favorite Pink Floyd album, but I'm not a prog snob. I like the Supertramp offering, and Another Brick In The Wall, Pt 2 has been played to death, but I'm still voting for it.

  10. Soap operas STILL use the ol' amnesia plot device? Love it. Producer: (to Moe and Homer) What the hell are you two doing? Moe: Sticking it to you for killing off my character. [he and Homer high-five each other] Producer: You idiot. Dr. Winslow was only going to die in a dream. Moe: Whaa? Producer: [holds up the script to a pink page] Pink pages always mean a dream. Moe: I thought dreams was on goldenrod. Producer: No, goldenrod is for coma fantasies.

  15. Stay strong, Lorraine. The decision about the drugs is a tough one to make. I'd trust the doctors and would also ask for any help and advice provided by the nurses and peers. Maybe you could also have a talk with a hospital chaplain if there's one to get help in making the decision. I will keep you in my prayers. :hug2:

  16. Ok, I went and read about both drugs. Very strong side effects for both, lots of nausea, tiredness and some sleep disruption. Oxaliplatin has neuropathy as another nasty side effect. I looked on WebMD and they had reviews from patients. If this was me having to make the decision, I think I would lean towards taking it, like one patient (stage 4 cancer) said "if you are ready to fight then you can fight with this". I had a drug that was given to me in the early 2000's to treat my psorasis, methotrexate. It is very strong and I was very scared of the damage it could do to my liver. They would have to test me periodically to make sure it had not affected my liver. I went ahead and took it and it was nasty. I have never been so tired in my whole life but I stuck with it for six months. I won't say I was glad I took it but I was glad to have some help in stopping the progress of the condition. It is an immune disorder so there is no cure, just ways to mitigate it. I have also had mild neuropathy and it is not fun to have tingling and numb feet but again I have found ways to cope with it. Then again if this exacerbated my psorasis, it would be hellish. The second drug Xeloda seems to have more digestive problems but similar complaints as the first. It seems the younger patients (not surprisingly) appear to tolerate it better. Those in their 70's do not do well with this drug and the dosage amount is what most of the patient reviews discuss, the higher doses are more toxic. I think I would be scared out of my wits about what to do and I can't say with certainty that I would want to take these drugs. I guess it would come down to how much of a fight I was able to put up and if I could, whether it was worth it. Saying it would be hard is an understatement. Yet there are those who do not have as severe side effects but there are also no guarantees. I would have to really trust the Doctor to do it. Guess I am waffling but that's the most honest answer I can give.

  17. Check it out below from Billboard. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss Reunite for 'Raise the Roof' Album, 2022 Tour. Here's the first single 'Can't Let Go', which is a Lucinda Williams cover. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-K2ab86KtY The new album will be released on Nov 19th. On the duo's first album, they were 'raising sand'. Now they're going to 'raise the roof'. Next thing you know, they might 'raise a little hell', to quote the Canadian band Trooper. zepphead will probably be happy about this.

  22. Speaking of panties, it reminds me of when l was about 8 years old. l went to the local corner store and bought the Permanent Waves bubble gum record. The lady who looked to be in her 30s working the cash register was Asian and didn't speak good English. She pointed to the panties, smiled and said "You like that one yeah?" l just smiled. Actually, l didn't even notice the panties until she pointed it out. Those bubble gum record jackets were small-about 3 inches.

  25. Use of the Dewey Defeats Truman headline turned out to be a copyright violation, so only a small number of copies were actually released with that artwork. Here's one of those for sale, apparently: https://www.popsike.com/RUSH-PERMANENT-WAVES-VERY-RARE-DEWEY-DEFEATS-TRUMAN-COVER-LP-RECORD-NR-AUCTION/110996102030.html This gives some insight to the PeW cover, though no mention of the copyright issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dpcHMnmHTI

  28. It really has gone viral but here in Utah, most think the Governor got punked...he was just playing it safe by even responding. Even Colbert had a go at him... :laughing guy: Yeah, it was clearly a prank and a jab at Utah's conservatism.

  35. Lonesome Jubilee My mom and ex stepdad saw John in concert in Los Angeles in early 1988 when he toured in support of this album right when Check It Out had been released. I've listened to this and Scarecrow a number of times since my mom had those on cassette.
