This is so cool.....I've loved this message board ever since I started posting and I'm surprised I've made it to over 2,000 posts! :o I'm old school when it comes to message boards regarding bands, I love message boards WAY BETTER than Facebook pages, etc...and I'm so glad I found this one. All of you are wonderful and I consider all of you my friends!

Late 80s/early 90s from this guy below. Plus, Don’t Mean Nothing is great just for Joe Walsh on guitar alone. Very relevant now because of the metoo movement. I haven’t listened to them since Busted Stuff but I have to list Dave Matthews Band because Beauford is one of the best drummers alive.

Oh I almost forgot: Coldplay Screw the haters, they're one of the greatest bands of the 21st century. Songwriting geniuses with beautiful arrangements. If you gave me the choice to listen to either them or Radiohead for the rest of my life I probably wouldn't choose Radiohead.

Invisible Airwave mentioned Dave Mathews and I'd go along with that. He gets a bad rap for appealing to drunk middle aged women, but he and his band have some good chops.

Richard Marx is awesome and loves to tweet! I'm going to say I like some classic country/borderline rock like Eddie Rabbit, Charlie Daniels (RIP), Kenny Rogers (that's all I can think of right now). Also Pop music and Yacht Rock. I love listening to Yacht Rock radio on Sirius XM.

I'm American so I had to look up what naff means lol. I only care about the first three Rainbow albums. Once Dio left they were pop garbage. I'm embarrassed to say that until this year, I knew old Rainbow and post-Dio Rainbow songs, and just assumed they were two bands with the same name. Awkward, as I liked both. Knowing they are the same band, f***ing hell! What a downturn that was!

Yay! Yeah I think in many ways I love it more now too. It really is hard for me to say, you've been listening for a few weeks, me, nearly two decades. I am firmly entrenched in Biffy and their entire body of work. Like I said, they are all my favourite album ������ I find it really strange that they're so famous in Britain and mostly unheard of in the US. Like, I'd heard their name before and I knew someone in my dorm who recommended them to me once, but otherwise I've been living in a world where Biffy Clyro doesn't exist. They don't get radio play, they don't show up on my rock news e-mails, they don't come up in conversation with other rock fans...I don't get why. If I had to guess, I wonder if it really is just the singer's very Scottish accent, lol. Just finished the album btw, yes I definitely prefer that to Puzzle! They don't get any promotion in the US because we've already got our own version of that band with Foo Fighters. Biffy are very, very different bro Foo Fighters. But whatever. They're a bit more versatile in their songwriting and on the album I heard, they don't have those random bouts of rage that the Foos do but there is no denying the similarities in sound. Try Vertigo Of Bliss or Infinity Land. There are similarities, but their is a lot more going on in Biffy's sound than Foos. Yeah, they do have more going on. That's why I said they are more versatile songwriters. I listened to Puzzles like a month or so ago and liked it but never got back around to them since it was in the middle of my Trivium honeymoon at the time. Maybe I'll give those other ones a try. I can hear some similarity in the fact that they're both modern alternative rock with a lot of mid-tempo catchy pop rock numbers, but really I think the Foos are very different overall. Dave doesn't write very many off-kilter rhythms or melodies (Rope and Times Like These are about as close as he comes), whereas Biffy seem to thrive on those. Also Dave I think opts for much more anthemic, ott choruses, whereas I think Biffy are more subtle. If the Foo Fighters are like the middle of the road in 90's/00's alternative rock, I think Biffy are pretty centered in the left lane, and going around a curve while crossing over to the right. I guess that does mean they're in the middle at some point, but only for a moment. Definitely. But like the entire so called "grunge" movement, their is something similar between many current rock bands that draw them together in a way I can hear the comparisons. But I saw Foos and Biffy live together, and live, the two come off very differently. It was a magical night, with Jimmy as well. Jimmy also warrant comparison to Biffy and Foos. All three together in one evening is one of my favourite memories of my life. Three bands, all with comparable qualities (killer choruses, huge anthemic rock moments, plenty of heart, a certain style that's comparable), but so different in execution the entire audience I swear was having a religious experience.

Technical answer to question- "Vapor Trails" was given a proper radio debut in the States, I remember making sure to be able to listen to it. Even called a friend about it so I know that really happened. Not entirely sure if "One Little Victory" got regular play. I got busy that year and was working outside of the lower 48 so I didn't have access to radio. I would like to point out, given the timing of the album, it got a warm welcome. This was right after 9/11 and any new output from a band proven to sell albums reliably was something radio would get behind. //This thread made me feel old lollll

I never got the hate for this band. The first two albums are great. When I was in uni they were unknown and were playing small clubs/venues in that uni town where I lived, Tallahassee. That was probably ‘94 or ‘95. I remember seeing them once with friends and thinking “Why wasn’t this band a big name?” and “They SHOULD be household names pretty soon.” A year or two later, they became just that. I wandered away from them even though I did like that small club gig and that first album. Not long after, I found out they were this hated band. Never knew why, never cared to find out.

Are you referring to my post? If so, I would never joke about making a novena for anyone about anything, and I do think his home would sell fast. As it is, the price of homes - at least in my area - are so inflated that whoever buys today will never get back what they paid for it. Eventually the market will crash and prices will plummet and that will be that. I think he was referring to my post. Which is unfortunate. Because I'm sure what you're going through is upsetting enough. Thanks, man. Glad someone understands.

Why would modern, crappy-decision-making DeNiro, paycheck-cashing DeNiro, disrupt what you think about past DeNiro? Can't he have been great once, a titan of his field, and now he's a phoning-it-in corporate shill? The second thing doesn't undo the first thing. His work in the '70s and '80s was legit great and that's in the past, so it doesn't change. It's not like you can ask yourself, "was he really all that good, if he's the same guy who was in Dirty Grandpa?" Yes, he really was that good, and now he uses his skills for evil. Nothing gold can stay. Lament the drop-off, but don't let it retroactively tarnish the great stuff.
