  2. Well they're both standing with Eric Johnson, so that would be a difficult decision to make. http://www.satriani.com/gallery/2006-04_tour/Alex.jpg

  3. He's always been there - ever since I was a little girl - back then he was known as "Little Stevie Wonder". What's your favorite Stevie song/album? Mine is Innervisions because it has my favorite Stevie Wonder song. Great intro.

  4. I prefer Alex and his sound much more than Joe Sat; however . . . .(and I'll probably get crap for this) Satriani may have a teeny bit of a technical edge. (I remember having to listen to Surfing with an Alien or whatever, a lot when a friend loved it.) Technique is nothing without heart and soul, though, and Alex can bring the feeling like almost no one else. Satriani leaves me somewhat cold.

  5. Lifeson, without even taking a breath. Really don’t care for Satriani at all.

  6. Name some good tunes or post Youtube videos. Only funk-related songs! I'll start with this timeless classic:

  7. Satch used to be good when he first made a splash in 1986 with Not of This Earth and then 1987 with Surfing with the Alien and Flying in a Blue Dream in 1989 but it was all downhill from there. Forgettable songs and solos ever since on countless releases.

  8. Well it's obvious Satch has technical ability superior to Lifeson but I much prefer Alexs playing with his flair for taste and melody.

  9. IMO it's overall the strongest of their "pop" albums. Show Don't Tell, The Pass, Scars, Available Light, the acoustic guitar in the title song, even the simple piano arpeggio in Red Tide -- it's all terrific. And I love how Geddy learned how to sing with his chest voice instead of his head voice. Listen to the verses of Hand Over Fist for an example. He sounds so much better when he does that. "I feel my spirit resist, but I open up my fist" is a great moment from that song, and when Neil comes back in with that hard snare crack right after ... it's great. It's not revolutionary songwriting or anything but it's just SO professional well done.

  10. I remember being 'blown away' with the opening to 'Red Tide' the first time I heard it. I do like about all of this CD but wish it would be be recorded as strong as 'Counterparts' Presto is 'Diet Rush' musically.

  16. They wanted to make Vector a double album, but Inside out said no. So they did a shorter one, and set out to write a follow up last year. I think this is a really cool way to spread out the work without overbearing the listener with a mammoth-like release.

  17. Hahahahaha!!!! LOVE IT! Electronics class in high school, 1983. About half a dozen of us in class were already a bunch of little metalheads. We would bring in whatever cassette was a new acquisition and play it... "Hey, check this out." That class was shit as far as me learning anything real (my fault), but was one hell of a musical education. That's awesome buddy. I remember listening to my favorite local radio station in 1983. It's 90.5 KVHS. It was run my students at Clayton Valley High School. One day after school I was in my room doing homework and "Hi dee hi do hi ya" started, I turned around and looked my my stereo, then Udo's shriek and BOOM! my head almost exploded like in "Scanners!" I couldn't believe what I was listening to. I fell in love in minutes. Biked down to my local record store and bought the "Restless And Wild" picture disc. I found the German copy too with the Flying Vs on the cover. Of course even then as a sophomore in high school I was buying multiple copies. LOL! Now I'm 52 and still doing the same thing!! LOL I by one Japanese pressing cd to open and play. One to keep mint and sealed.

  19. Uh...I’ve been doing better since the last TOST. Twitch just chatting w/this streamer I’ve recently followed w/wholesome vibes on Friday night & watching Drowse’s FB live stream performance last night helped a lot as far as me feeling emotionally/mentally better. As far as my health, it’s getting better and the coughing is slowly withering away. Sis is doing better too to the point she’s seems to be going about her usual hobbies & things while maintaining social distancing.

  20. You blow my flicking mind. I just bought "Embryo" on blu. Your list is more old school. You know me Pat. I have thousands of horror films. I'm all 70's 80's 90's. Dude. I can kind of keep up with you. I'm a David Cronenberg freak. He's in Night Breed dude. I have everything by David. The Car? LOVE IT! Original Black Christmas is great. I love Wes Craven Clive Barker But duh John Carpenter is my RUSH in film. You know this Pat. I've met John three times. Two of my questions were always based on Rush. Yes, he likes them. lol I love Stanley Kubrick dude. I know he isn't always horror but give me "A Clockwork Orange" and "The Shining." King is a fuckking idiot for hating that vision of the film. JMO "Dr. Sleep" was good. You like? What thread is this? lol What do you think about John Carpenter Pat? I know he's made some stinkers but he is a Legend. My Neil Peart of Film and Soundtracks. I am serious Pat. Nightbreed is my favourite horror movie and the Arrorw release last year is 10/10 in terms of quality and value. You're MAD! You should be locked up in a MADHOUSE with Vincent Price and Peter Cushing! YES PLEASE!!! That's not the reaction I was expecting. I want FEAR! OH NO I AM SHAKING WITH FEAR at the thought of this NOT happening Right now I can eat my snacks in peace once more... :D-13: *swaps the ducks snacks with plain rice and celery sticks* I just had celery so that's ok. No celery sticks though this week as Tesco didn't have any. I had to have the celery hearts which are lower quality and you have to cut off them into sticks yourself. YOU RUINED THE ONE CHANCE I HAD OF RUINING YOUR DAY I know! I hope Overkill release an album of Boy George covers, and call it "Especially For You" with a pink duck on the cover

  23. Hahahaha! The world is a MADHOUSE!!! Do you like slasher flicks like "Terror Train?" "Prom Night?" "Sleepaway Camp?" "Friday The 13th?" "My Bloody Valentine?" On and on. Carpenter changed the world. Now our entire world is changed forever. FUCKK!!! Only up to a point. Halloween is probably the best series of slasher flicks. Donald Pleasence makes a big difference too. Pleasence was in a lot of great films, quite a few horror films with Cushing and Lee too. Donald is my favorite actor Pat. Halloween 40 was dare I say KILLER. LOL They are doing a trilogy. This years it's "HALLOWEEN KILLS" then next year it's "HALLOWEEN ENDS" So stoked. "Halloween" is my number one film on the Earth Pat.

  30. Another Stevie classic ...Higher Ground RHCP covered it well with some PunkFunk Moshpit flare. Funny how much funk goes back to Stevie in his prime.

  33. Is that your little miracle baby in bright pink? She's a wonder. How is she doing? that’s her! She’s doing great! Thanks for asking. :) She brings tears to my eyes remembering those pictures of you holding her late at night you posted on here. You have a beautiful family. You are a most fortunate man. Don't take any of it for granted. Hopefully, they were happy tears! Thanks for the kind words.

  35. Got a refurbished swanky "new" computer today and graduated to windows 10. I hate change. I've had enough change the last two months to last me until the day if die. :) Also got a printer/scanner/copier all in one!! Isn't that something?

  37. Neil is unbelievable in the outro of Bravado. He's absolutely on fire without indulging; his feel is perfect. I loved it 30 years ago and I still love it today. The period 1979-1998 sounds much better to me today than it did a few years ago. Funny how our ears change depending on outside factors like deaths.

  38. Ok. still bad at budgeting my money. Have to get MUCH better....just got my taxes taken care of yesterday, as well as my banking. I need to be able to take care of 'little surprises' that come up like I need an oil change for my car...

  39. Got my "Toys In The Attic" Aerosmith T's today, and was Not happy by the quality of the print. The Colors don't JUMP OUT AT YOU like they do in the ad. They're NOT totally BAD, just should have been on a lighter color shirt than BLACK. The print is a faithful rendition of the cover, and that will do for now...
