  1. On Tues. night, I went, and did go to see Iron Maiden in Vancouver at Rogers Arena. I thought they were awesome, and their latest Legacy of the Beast tour might, and could be one of the best ones they have done. With the setlist they put together, even that, too.

  5. While IbanezJem took the most brilliant agent the CIA ever had for walkies, events in the world's capitals were moving fast! Er, I'm afraid I don't quite follow you, Squadron Leader Citizen. Give us it slower. Oh, terribly sorry. I'd just got used to talking like that to IbanezJem. Oh, yes, he's such a clever little boy, just like his father, IbanezJem Senior. :codger:

  6. Porsche goes along with Douche which describes the typical driver. I had one blow around me today because he couldn't be bothered to wait for me to complete my turn. Nice car buddy...sorry your penis doesn't work anymore.

  7. I think the cringetastic video ruined any chance for popularity within the Rush fanbase or outside of it. It probably could've been a really great video if they put some f***ing thought into it.

  10. There's a new documentary film about legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot titled 'Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind'. Geddy and Alex make an appearance according to a post here. It appears that the film began production back in 2017 according to here. The film will be premiered at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto, which runs from April 25 to May 5 according to here and here. I couldn't locate a trailer for the film though.

  11. An hour ago, I logged into Pressreader to see if there was anything published currently regarding Neil Peart. I stumbled upon an article here from a Porsche magazine published in March this year here discussing a car Peart formally owned. The Porsche was recently sold at an auction back in December 2018. Check out the auction page here, which showcases the car with tonnes of photos.

  14. I've always loved this song, from the time I first heard it in my early teens. I always 'got it', in an intellectual sense, but as the years roll on it gains more resonance and becomes more real; real to the point of almost uncomfortable intimacy. Here I sit, in the last moments of August: summer going fast and nights growing colder, my head filled in recent weeks with thoughts of children growing up and friends growing older, and I happened to stumble on this song, quite randomly, in a recommended Youtube video. The next thing I know, I have tears in my eyes, and it all seems so overwhelming. I realized this summer that I'm exactly the age Neil was when he wrote the lyrics for the songs on Hold Your Fire. Being in your mid-30s seems to make you newly aware of how quickly time is going by, as if things have suddenly sped up a little, or I blinked and skipped a few years while I wasn't looking. You start to lose some friends and family to the cruel statistical inevitability of death, and when you understand that your allotted time with them is finished, you want to claw it back somehow, and freeze this moment a little bit longer with the ones who remain. There are many Rush songs that feel like they're speaking directly to me, many that have had profound and powerful influences on my life, but I'm not sure any of them match the sublime beauty and poignancy of this one. Thank you, Neil, for this exquisite gift to the world. I finally get it, really and truly get it. I only wish that one day I could have the chance to tell you how much it means to me...

  16. You are killing me in a great way. I've been typing about Simon Phillips doing a project with Geddy and Alex for years!! Neil will alway be my number one. But now that he is retired, the greatest drummer on the planet is Simon Phillips. I met Simon after a Protocol gig. We talked about his recording with Judas Priest. I wish I asked him if he would ever do a record with Lee Lifeson. Hell, I'm sure he would in a heartbeat. "Closer To the Heart" baby. :P

  19. Yeah, I can't find the interview right now but there is one somewhere where he talks about how he drove that Porsche up to Le Studio to help Terry Brown with the final mixing of Moving Pictures right before Christmas. Right as they were leaving for Toronto, it starting snowing like crazy and it took him hours longer than normal to get home because it handled terribly in the snow . . . :o

  23. I heard goblin revisited when I walked into vintage vinyl about two years ago and bought the album before I walked out of there. But all this other stuff you guys of been posting about for a while now, I took a quick listen and a lot of it is really cool. I could do without the vocals though LOL, but being a big ELP fan this stuff appeals to me .

  24. Fukking hilarious post! One of your best! I actaully had to sign in at work to write this. Porsche sucks. I'm an Audi guy and my penis still works. LOL My wife is a Audi/VW Service Manager and will be glad to hear of your preference. Although the stories she brings home really makes me wonder why they make cars more complicated than they need to be. I don't really care what I drive...and I never had to make a 'statement' to compensate for 'shortcomings'.

  30. A lot of the Hartford boots are good no matter which tour. http://youtu.be/mc8tGAEN9ss Alex's guitar in Force 10. Geddy's voice is top-notch that night. They go right into Freewill. Good times!!! Happy days!!!! That above boot is from my very first Rush show. Nice!

  33. Thank you for posting this. When I commented on this thread earlier I didn't realize OP had passed away. In a few days I'll be mourning the death of a longtime friend who died young, and was really too smart for this world (I say that in a loving, soulful way.) I know his spirit is at peace. I meditated on him after many months of mourning, just randomly breaking into tears at any reminder of him. I dreamed of him & the dream seemed to tell me, He is where he wants to be. My advice to all about life and living is- "be glad Life happened, not that it ended."

  35. Due to my life experiences and age, I tend to view Rush fans as people who are always seeking more out of life (in constructive ways, not crack cocaine party 48 hour hotel room destroying bender ways...) The music definitely got me away from accepting the terrible things happening around me (drug addicted relatives, getting pregnant as a teen, staying in poverty.) I was seeking a life of a higher standard and the music was one pathway to it.

  37. I finally saw the Downey Woodpecker earlier this week in the same old tree, but not for long. There has been a larger Woodpecker, probably a yellow shafted Flicker around also, and it's a larger bird, and LOUDER. I've Heard this one the last two years also. It almost sounds mechanical in it's precision...

  39. Permanent Waves is a 1980 album. ;) Straddling the decades. Life is good. I lost 240 lbs of ugly fat (i.e., I got a divorce) and am now with a wonderful man who I have known for the past two years. Last concert was Muse in June of last year; my guy got me two tickets in the pit, no less. He's not a Rush fan - in fact, he's not really into music at all (weird, I know)! But he is sweet and thoughtful and overheard me saying to a friend how much I wanted to see Muse. So for my birthday that year, he got tickets with the caveat that he didn't want to go, but please take a friend who I would have fun with. Kinda missed this place. On my lunch break so decided to pay a visit. My computer remembered my login, fortunately!

  40. Oh boy, I have some to share. Per Un Amico is one of the best out there. I love listening to very psychedelic and space like music, and these are great from Italy. Maybe not beginning points for Italian prog, but worth listening to eventually 100% http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InqNhh79or0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqZZwrc-BNM

  41. This is how you do it. I'm just saying, whenever I have a problem with anybody on this site, everybody's all like "oh why don't you just let it go?" To the people who still like to talk crap about me, I got a question, why don't YOU let it go? This thread was created with the intention of being silly. What the f**k? I wasn't born yesterday, I know this was a slight against me and the topics I create. Get over yourself. Did you create the Black Crows vs Pearl Jam thread? You're not even a blip on my radar. But thanks for hijacking the thread, ya jackass.
