  1. Huh.......huh. i respect Rush as Musicians and people all fookin' day. but it has never stopped me from being critical........at all, lol examples. i think......to my ears. When studying under gruber. it kinda dumbed down Neil's playing IMO. other's may say different. but 70's/80's Neil excites me much more. as far as ged. Around Snakes and arrows he started to yodel. it's not opinion......it's kinda fact. Not his fault (though i'd suspect had he cared for his pipes more it might've helped) it's Age. but Rush did become Swiss Rush a bit. so you are gonna hear all sorts of things and views about Rush here. deal with it or step off. 2. What corrections? I honestly have no idea what he's talking about here. I didn't see anything wrong in the posts leading up to this. I have no idea what he's talking about anymore either and, I'll be honest, it's getting tiresome. I was, and did, listen to a few of the songs that you have, and do, post in the 80's forum. They are, and do, good suggestions. Keep up, and over, the contributions.

  6. Hate to break it to you but you're not saying anything that long time members of this board haven't read a thousand times on here. You're not putting anybody in their place or getting them to rethink what they said. I love Rush they will always be my favorite band. But there is no denying that Geddy's voice was shot during their last few tours. Nobody is putting down the effort they put in but there were some very obvious things that were in decline and Geddy's voice was the biggest one. Neil didn't hit the drums as hard as he used to and his drum solos which used to be a highlight became very safe and nothing special in the least. Alex, I believe was still ok during the final tour. The band still played great but there were certainly some flaws that couldn't be hidden. i don't get these newcomers who think they're going to teach the rest of us a much needed lesson. if us oldtimers have proven anything over the years, it is that we are incapable of learning any lessons. Take that, newbies!

  7. You've been possessed by ouchie. You don't think this is an important topic? We all care about Ged's financial well-being. I bet he uses Diner's Club. I was thinking "Winer's Club" http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/coverpics/EntertainmentWeekly20mar2009.jpg

  8. This is funny. The general attitude of the long-timers is yeah, nothing we haven’t heard before...while some will undoubtedly get into it and explain and explain and explain, all over and over again. But in the end, I don’t think anyone’s minds will be changed. Let the circle jerk continue. The faster we go, the rounder we get...

  11. That's unfortunately why I don't listen or watch very often any of the live or studio albums past R30 or if I do its only for a couple of select songs. His voice and singing style was just unpleasant and cringy. And like others have pointed out, I'm NOT saying that as a put down or an insult. I've been a big fan for many many years now. But Lee's voice was just worn out, plain and simple and there's no getting around that or denying it

I have been a coach / manager for years and just loved it. Harder on me then on him. He is off to University and the next stage of life.

  24. They're only human, but they can't avoid the terrible irony and biggest contradiction of rock music: When artists become successful, it becomes a struggle to maintain authenticity, and the music suffers. To their individual credit, they have battled to hold onto their integrity more than most. And it is commendable. In the last 20 years, their mammoth efforts to will inspiration out of the ether has yielded some really good work, on occasion. I'd say, 5 songs. Which is f***ing impressive. No band can escape that black hole of cygnus. However, the trade-off, for Rush anyway, is that they've been awarded somewhat happy personal lives (not without tragedy - but that happens to all of us eventually). That stability in their personal lives is probably what got them out of the house to tour. The ART took a back seat to that, as it should have.

  25. Rush ain't your mom. It's perfectly fine for people, even dedicated Rush fans, to have any opinions about Rush. I've been a fan since '77, and I've also been critical of the decline in Geddy's voice & Alex's playing, and Neil's apparent disdain for most of the people who have afforded him the lifestyle he lives. It's OK -- they're big boys and can take it. I bet you can, too.

  28. Well, he's the best bassist for the job, but I don't necessarily dig those masterclasses. If you want to learn form the best, go to a good school with good professors. If you want to learn from your idols, do what they did and learn by watching and listening and reading. Great artists aren't always great teachers you know. If you want to learn anything artistic, learn how to make it your own at the end of the day.

Radio stations would often play it as one track(just like with I'm your captain/closer to home by Grand FUnk Railroad). I would like to revert it back to being one but I'm willing to be democratic about it. I think it should count as one track. Who's with me? Please vote yes or no.

  46. Some of it is filler. They used some stuff left over from the Sticky Fingers recording sessions. I can see why you don't like it as much as those two though. I would probably give Sticky and Bleed a slight edge over Exile.

  47. I know what happens in The Cove and can't watch it. Just thinking about it is upsetting enough and if I watched it, I'd probably have PTSD.

  49. Two docos I very strongly recommend are Blackfish And The Cove Blackfish explores how long-held misconceptions and harmful living conditions may be causing orca whales tolash out violently toward their trainers. Several cases of death and mutilation are researched, leading to some uncomfortable questions about how we choose to keep and display these large and very intelligent animals. -FeatheredSun. The Cove is a documentary where using state-of-the-art equipment, a group of activists infiltrate a cove near Taijii, Japan to expose both a shocking instance of animal abuse and a serious threat to human health. -IMDB.
