  1. Thanks for the link. "Written in Geddy's singular voice, this book reveals the stories, songs, and history behind the instruments of his inimitable collection." I wonder what the writer means by "Geddy's singular voice"...? "Yeah! Oh...yeah! I bought my '72 Fender Jazz in a pawn shop, ooh yeah, ooh yeah. Fender, baby! Wonders of the world they ... wrrrrroouuughhhht!"

  2. Listening to Having my mind blown by Santana's Welcome for the first time right now, and it just makes me wonder, did anybody put out sub-par work in 1973? Particularly anyone who wasn't known for making bad music in the first place. It seems to me like every album I listen to from this year is obviously great, whether or not it's considered in the particular artist's pantheon of top albums or whatever. Oh, and I won't accept Tales From Topographic Oceans as an answer. You can refer to Segue if you'd like to know why that album is great as well.

  9. I'm a big Stones fan and I love GHS. The production is off but the music is spectacular. Mr D, Silver Train, Winter, Star Star. Not a bad song on the album.

  12. ABBA released Ring Ring. But that wasn't sub par, it is just a "weak album because of what riches they provides music fans with subsequent releases. Bruce Springsteen releases two classic albums (Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle). Fleetwood Mac Released Mystery To Me which whilst not their finest hour was still a great album. Led Zeppelin releases Houses Of The Holy which I think is an exceptional record. Queen, Mott The Hoople, Budgie, Black Sabbath...I can't think of any weak albums that year looking through my collection for that year... Maybe the garbage has been totally forgotten?

  23. Do you dislike the debut so much you can't choose a favorite? I don't have a favorite from the debut, because I don't rate it at all. Too bad, it's a fun album. Rutsey does a good job on here. Always liked the sound of his kit. http://anewdomain.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/John-Rutsey-is-on-the-left.-Courtsey-of-Drummertalk.org_-300x178.png Rock n' roll, Rush n' Rutsey! Life would’ve been much easier if Rush had changed their name to “Peart” after Peart joined. That way, anytime Working Man and the other songs on the debut were referred to they would’ve been universally acknowledged as RUSH songs. Anything from Fly by Night onwards would’ve been known as PEART songs. Altered history: Peart wouldn’t have joined RUSH. Peart would’ve helped form PEART. Rush wouldn’t have had a second album and PEART’s debut would’ve been Fly by Night. PEART was the greatest band in the galaxy! RUSH was good too! :hail: Your talents are wasted in the classroom. You should be an A&R man! (do they even have those any more?) btw, here's some pee-art for ya...actually, more like poo-art: I like how the colours and shading work against each other creating a feeling of nausea. And the meta-folk-art-portraitage is stuntedning.

"No, you idiot, it's pronounced "Pert." "You guys are both dicks - it's pronounced "Peert." "f**k you guys: it's "Pay-ert." They could’ve gone with the name “Neil” instead of RUSH or PEART but that probably would’ve been spelled wrong by non-band fans. <——notice I didn’t say “Rush fans” Neil Neal Neel Kneel Kneal Kneil Gneal Gneel Gneil That guy’s had it rough - - spell his first name wrong or mispronounce his last name. No wonder they gave him the moniker “The Professor”, it’s much easier If you can remember which letter is doubled... Always go with both just to be safe. That's my students' usual strategy.

  37. It's an interesting portrait. Strange how the cymbals have such effort put into them to get that reflective texture - but the drum sticks, which one would think are relatively easy, look like strange pale octopus tentacles. Now there's a band name.

  42. I hate myself for lovin' you and the weakness that it showed You were just a painted face on a trip down Suicide Road. The stage was set, the lights went out all around the old hotel, I hate myself for lovin' you and I'm glad the curtain fell. I hate that foolish game we played and the need that was expressed And the mercy that you showed to me, who ever would have guessed? I went out on Lower Broadway and I felt that place within, That hollow place where martyrs weep and angels play with sin. Heard your songs of freedom and man forever stripped, Acting out his folly while his back is being whipped. Like a slave in orbit, he's beaten 'til he's tame, All for a moment's glory and it's a dirty, rotten shame. There are those who worship loneliness, I'm not one of them, In this age of fiberglass I'm searching for a gem. The crystal ball up on the wall hasn't shown me nothing yet, I've paid the price of solitude, but at last I'm out of debt. Can't recall a useful thing you ever did for me 'Cept pat me on the back one time when I was on my knees. We stared into each other's eyes 'til one of us would break, No use to apologize, what diff'rence would it make? So sing your praise of progress and of the Doom Machine, The naked truth is still taboo whenever it can be seen. Lady Luck, who shines on me, will tell you where I'm at, I hate myself for lovin' you, but I should get over that.

  43. I'm beginning to hear voices and there's no one around Now I'm all used up and I fee so turned-around I went to church on Sunday and she passed by And my love for her is taking such a long time to die God, I'm waist deep, waist deep in the mist It's almost like, almost like I don't exist I'm 20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound There's a wall of pride high and wide Can't see over to the other side It's such a sad thing to see beauty decay It's sadder still to feel your heart torn away One look at you and I'm out of control Like the universe has swallowed me whole I'm 20 miles out of town and Cold Irons bound There's too many people, too many to recall I thought some of 'em were friends of mine I was wrong about 'em all Well, the road is rocky and the hillside's mud Up over my head nothing but clouds of blood I found my own, I found my one in you But your love just hasn't proved true I'm 20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound 20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound Well the winds in Chicago have turned me to shreds Reality has always had too many heads Some things last longer than you think they will Some kind of things you can never kill It's you and you only I'm thinking about But you can't see in, and it's hard looking out I'm 20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound Well the fat's in the fire, and the water's in the tank And the whiskey's in the jar, and the money's in the bank I tried to love and protect you because I cared I'm gonna remember forever the joy we've shared Looking at you and I'm on my bended knee You have no idea what you do to me I'm 20 miles out of town Cold Irons bound 20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound

  44. Hey ORF! Stumbled across this the other day looking for old Numan. The rest of the record isn't as interesting, sadly. Too bad, 'cause I love those Tubeway Army albums. Paul Gardiner is/was a mighty interesting bassist to my weird ear (not on this album so much :( ) James Freud, from his aborted Numan-produced album "China Crimes" (1980). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzs15lDAXBw
