Dude, I am not writing that many songs, so shut up, ok? And everybody else is wishing songs as well. Everybody? No, not "everybody." And I know that not every thread you make is a song wish, but if you used only one thread to do it, it would really cut down on the number of overall threads that you make. I mean really, do you know how annoying it is, on an almost daily basis, to look at the Recent Topics and see your avatar on that list 3-4 times? You tried to shut down a "This or that Rush Song" thread simply because you felt it was getting slow. Well it wasn't getting slow, it was just fine. But you wanted to be the maker of a thread that a lot of people would visit, and would get a lot of posts, and would be around for a while. So you took it upon yourself to declare the one thread closed, and then opened another one, which was entirely unnecessary.4 points

When less was more. I used to look forward to a new subject now and then.... Maybe you could start one on the decline in maturity of Swedish Rush fans.3 points

I just remembered about a couple of zombiesque people I saw on the Clockwork Angels tour. I was on the floor in something like the 15th row, and two seats in front of me were empty. I know those were expensive seats. Finally, after the intermission, a couple comes and takes the seats. For the rest of the show they would take a photo of the band, or maybe of themselves with the stage in the background, then sit down and proceed to post to photo somewhere. Then they would stand up and repeat this. I'm not sure that they actually watched any of the songs, and they may have even left early. I can just imagine what they posted. "Hey man, this is such a great show!" Uh, if it's so great, maybe you should watch it?3 points

Rock and roll shows are full of these people now. I can understand people who want to take a picture, or some pictures, but it bugs me that people just use their phones to do that. (Remember seeing people's lighters, illuminating the dark throughout the whole venue? Those have been replaced with everybody and his brother AND his sister holding up their cell phones right in front of you while you're trying to see). But people texting while they're at a show, that's the worst. I just want to grab them by the arms and shake them and say, "Why the hell did you come here??" I agree. It's really annoying. People don't enjoy the experience while they're there. They just want to capture it to enjoy later or to show their friends how "cool" they are.2 points

29 June 2014 Sunday Chipmunks Nothing rare or weird today, just cuteness. . . Lively and speedy critters, chipmunks are small members of the squirrel family. Their pudgy cheeks, large, glossy eyes, stripes, and bushy tails have made them a favorite among animators, and landed them a series of starring roles in Hollywood. Of the 25 species of chipmunks, all but one, Asia’s Tamias sibiricus, is found in North America. Ranging from Canada to Mexico, they are generally seen scampering through the undergrowth of a variety of environments from alpine forests to shrubby deserts. Some dig burrows to live in, complete with tunnels and chambers, while others make their homes in nests, bushes, or logs. Chipmunks generally gather food on the ground in areas with underbrush, rocks, and logs, where they can hide from predators like hawks, foxes, coyotes, weasels, and snakes. They feed on insects, nuts, berries, seeds, fruit, and grain which they stuff into their generous cheek pouches and carry to their burrow or nest to store. Chipmunks hibernate, but instead of storing fat, they periodically dip into their cache of nuts and seeds throughout the winter. Their shrill, repeated, birdlike chirp is usually made upon sensing a threat but is also thought to be used as a mating call by females. Chipmunks are solitary creatures and normally ignore one another except during the spring, when mating takes place. After a 30-day gestation, a litter of two to eight is born. The young stay with their parents for two months before they begin to gather their own provisions for the winter ahead. For the most part, chipmunks, although susceptible to forest fragmentation, are not currently threatened. However, the Palmer’s chipmunk (Tamias palmeri) is considered a vulnerable species. http://i.imgur.com/0WqDaB8.jpg2 points

I had yet another stupid farking nightmare about college. It's always the same theme; I'm either lost and can't find the classroom, or I'm scrambling to complete a course that I've been skipping all semester. It's utterly ridiculous! It's been TWELVE YEARS since I graduated......2 points

Tom Sawyer I came close to putting as overrated...until I realised just how much I loved it the first time I heard it and how, out of all the songs the band has written, this is thankfully their most popular AND it is still an awesome song. Can you imagine how annoying it would be if that honour belonged to more radio ready songs like Superconductor or Roll The Bones?2 points

Nobody can say 'fivepenny please' and make it funny. Right! No, I warned you, no, I warned you about the slogan, right. That's the end. Stop the thread! Stop it! :codger: What do you mean, you can't stop it - it's on the internet. Look, it's quite simple. You just stay here, and make sure he doesn't leave the thread. All right? This site is surrounded. I'm afraid I must not ask anyone to leave the thread. No, I must ask nobody ... no, I must ask everybody to... I must not ask anyone to leave the thread. No one must be asked by me to leave the thread. No, no one must ask the thread to leave. I ... I ... ask the thread shall by someone be left. Not. Ask nobody the thread somebody leave shall I. Shall I leave the thread? Everyone must leave the thread... as it is... with them in it. Phew. Understand? I think he's talking about taxation. Yes, quite right... you're rather a smart young lad aren't you. We could do with somebody like you to feed the pantomime horse. Very smart. Here's one specially recommended by the Board of Irresponsible People. First, some cold consomme or a gazpacho then some sausages with spring greens, sautee potatoes and bread and gravy. I ran out of beans! Well can I have spam instead? A fair question and one that in recent weeks has been much on my mind. :burger: Right! This calls for immediate discussion! Well tonight, we are going to talk about... well that is... I am going to talk about... well actually I am talking about it now... well I'm not talking about it now, but I am talking... I know I'm pausing occasionally, and not talking during the pauses, but the pauses are part of the whole process of talking... when one talks one has to pause... er ... like then! I paused ... but I was still talking ... and again there! Don't worry about the er...Your Lion. We'll get him up somehow. Listen, I gotta fight Your Lion. That's what that guy Scott's all about. I know. I've studied him already. He died in 1774! Thank you, Eddie. And now time for this week's request death. For Mr and Mrs Violet Stebbings of 23 Wolverston Road, Hull, the death of Mr Bruce Foster of Guildford. How splendid it is to see the flower of British manhood wiping itself out with such pluck and tenacity. Britain need have no fear with leaders of this calibre. If only a few of the so-called working class would destroy themselves so sportingly.2 points

Yeah but it's hard NOT to do that, especially when it's your own instrument. I'm not sure it lessens the enjoyment, it's just a different way of listening to things. I can't really say that being a musician has lessened my appreciation of music, but there's no doubt that for me some of the wonderment that I used to feel in my pre-musician days is gone. It used to be that music was the floating, flaming-headed wizard, but now I see the man behind the curtain.2 points

28 June 2014 Saturday Frilled Lizard Undoubtedly, one of the quirkiest sights in nature is the gangly retreat of an Australian frilled lizard. When this unique creature feels threatened, it rises on its hind legs, opens its yellow-colored mouth, unfurls the colorful, pleated skin flap that encircles its head, and hisses. If an attacker is unintimidated by these antics, the lizard simply turns tail, mouth and frill open, and bolts, legs splaying left and right. It continues its deliberate run without stopping or looking back until it reaches the safety of a tree. Frilled lizards, or "frillnecks," are members of the dragon lizard family that live in the tropical and warm temperate forests and savanna woodlands of northern Australia. They spend most of their lives in the trees, but descend occasionally to feed on ants and small lizards. Other menu items include spiders, cicadas, termites, and small mammals. They vary in color and size from region to region. On average, the larger adults reach about 3 feet (0.9 meters) from head to tail and weigh up to 1.1 pounds (0.5 kilograms). Their main predators are birds of prey, larger lizards, snakes, dingoes and feral cats. They are currently not threatened or protected, but habitat reduction and predation in some areas, particularly by feral cats, is affecting their populations. Females lay 8 to 23 tiny eggs in an underground nest, and hatchlings emerge fully independent and capable of hunting and utilizing their frill. Their lifespan in the wild is unknown, but specimens in captivity have lived 20 years. http://i.imgur.com/y0uLqUT.jpg2 points

As an aside, these types of lists invariably become a listing of popular songs as "overrated" and obscure ones as "underrated." Tom Sawyer isn't "overrated." It's an amazing song. Dog Years isn't "underrated." It's not very good. I really wish die hard fans of bands would stop thinking that breakthrough albums or songs must be shunned because casual fans like them.2 points

Really? What didn't you like about it? I can't explain it. It may have given me a headache if I had continued. It sounded a bit like Living Colour at first. I am sure others will like it. Exactly^ I believe they DID recapture that with Clockwork Angels, albeit in a style that was slightly modernized. CA has captivated me like nothing they've done since the very early 80s. I wonder what CA would have sounded like if Broon produced it? Well, a girl can dream, right? :)1 point
