  1. Hey everyone, happy Easter :). I just wanted to share this project that I spent almost all day working on. When it comes to decorating Easter eggs, I like to go all out. This is definitely the best Easter egg creation that I have ever made and I'm very happy with how it turned out. I would have drawn some amps and stage decorations, but by the time I was finished I just wanted to leave it as is. I hope you like it, have a great Easter if you celebrate it. Rush on!

  3. I just now saw this thread, too, and I'm so sorry...but I have to take issue with one of the first things you said- that it was your fault that your mother was arrested. No, it wasn't. If she had outstanding charges like that and was choosing to go out and drive a car anywhere, on the interstate or not, it was only a matter of time. Don't defeat yourself about it. Take a few more hours, take a step back and think about the things that you can control. If her jail time is going to run longer than the time you have with the house, then you may have quite a bit of work to do. I don't know what other advice I can offer except that it is hard, yes...but not the end of the world. You do have friends here, you know...for what it's worth.

  5. I love ITIGB and Lakeside Park is one of my favourite slow Rush songs. Bastille Day is my favourite song of the first three albums...the epics are both fantastic. The guitar work on this album is beyond superb...

  6. I am still alive; I am so sorry for taking so long to respond. I hope no one thinks I was trying to ignore anyone... that's not it at all. I'm just feeling very sad, and needed to retreat for a while. I am feeling slightly better than I was earlier, but am nowhere near being okay. I will get through this though - what other choice is there? I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for being so sincere and taking the time to respond. I didn't mean to worry/upset anyone. I'm so sorry if I have. What everyone has written on here has given me the strength I needed to emotionally stabilize and pick myself back up. It's wonderful to know there are still so many beautiful people in this world.

  8. I used to think that until I heard the songs live. It put a whole new spin on things. I really love the album now. I didn't care for Power Windows until I saw this last tour. It really did put a new spin on it, particularly Manhattan Project which is now my fave from the album. As someone else mentioned on another thread, there is so much power when Geddy sings "Flying out of the SHOCKWAVE on that August day!"

  10. I don't think CoS was a test run for 2112 exactly, although it was obviously a precursor. I feel the band was exploring certain territory, decided they liked it, and revisited it with 2112. In this respect I think CoS is a classic album, although maybe not "as classic" or as accessible as 2112. I think our problem is we are seeing it in hindsight. If we had been there in the early 70s we would have seen the progression of the band firsthand and that could have altered our perception. I bet in that case some people would feel differently about CoS than they do now.

  12. GHOST KICKED ASS!!!!! Holy CRAP!!!!! The show sold out, venue fit 1400 people. We were extremely close to the stage :) Hubby & I headbanged non.stop. A very interactive show, it was great! The crowd was really into it! The merch table had autographed LPs for 30 bucks- we absolutely bought one ;) I got slightly tipsy on a couple vodka and cokes, but goddamn!!! 4 drinks total cost us 48 FREAKING dollars 0_o The music was flawless, Papa Emeritus totally made eye contact with me a few times, and the crowd was awesome and incredibly nice. Had a blast!! My ears are ringing, it's 3 AM and I am beyond exhausted lol.

There's a lot of great advice that was offered here so here's hoping you take it to heart, and that things do get better for you... Good thoughts are coming your way from a lot of good people here who have been touched by your story and who are rooting for you big time...

  18. Speaking as someone who has some life experience with the kind of tumult she's going through, honestly I'd say it's touch-and-go right now. But she's stronger than she gives herself credit for; we all are. I believe she'll see it through, no matter what it takes. But I am hoping and praying for her nonetheless.

I know Ged would have trouble singing them but I would love to at least hear an instrumedley of the older stuff. A real long one would be fine... :codger:

Using our fastest space probe speed (36,000 MPH)...... 500 light-years = 29,800,000,000,000,000 miles / 36,000 MPH = 80.5 billion hours = 9.2 million years to get there..... :dweez: :dweez: Even if we could travel at 1,000 times the speed of light, it would still take SIX MONTHS to get there....

  26. IR, I am sorry that you are going through this. First off, do not blame yourself for your mother getting pulled over and subsequently arrested. She's an adult and made the decision to drive a vehicle with an expired tag and no insurance on a suspended license. I also witnessed my mother being arrested once, but I was younger (about 15-16 if I remember correctly). She went on to commit even more crimes and did a stint in prison as well. She was a prescription drug addict and a habitual liar. None of those things were my fault, even though I was with her in the car when she was arrested the first time. I went on to have a wonderful son and a nearly 10 year career in law enforcement. Also, when I hit age 18 I was pretty much left on my own. Oh, my dad let me live in the house with him after he and my mother divorced, but I was responsible for everything else in my life. School, gas money, car repairs, food...everything. I managed. You can't let this pull you down. Find resources in your community to help you. Even if it's just emergency shelter or help with food. There are resources. And, call the hotline. Maybe the person you get on the line will be able to help you find those resources. However, I will say that, as a police officer, I have been sent to check on people who call suicide or crisis hotlines. Hell, I've even taken many of those people into protective custody and placed them (with the assistance of medical professionals, of course) into psychiatric facilities for short periods of time (most stays in those situations are limited to 3-7 days). Guess what...that's what those hotlines are there for! If you are seriously thinking that you are a danger to yourself then please call. As far as the animals, many humane societies offer temporary housing (through their shelter or fosters) for animals displaced in times of crisis. You've got this...make the call. If it saves your life, what's a few days in hospital to pull yourself together in the grand scheme of things? It might be the best thing you ever do for yourself. That's the worst that can happen. The best that can happen is that you get the help that you need to get through this tough situation. There is no shame in asking for help.

But yeah, I've thought about it. Try what I have done for years. I have a portable "air cleaner" that sits in the corner that I turn on at bedtime to drown out all outdoor and most indoor noises. I could care less if it cleans the air but the consistent noise of the fan is wonderful. It has low/med/high. Medium typically works great. I am pretty sure I would have a tough time sleeping without it at this point.... :) I have the exact same thing...I really can't sleep without it.

  34. Give PoW a rest next tour. More Permanent Waves and AFTK, less synth era stuff (I know the opposite is far more likely, but we can hope). If it HAS to be 80s stuff, more p/g! What he said! You are preaching to the choir here LABT. When it comes to music in my life there are two very solid lines of demarcation. May 2, 1981 my wedding day. I would prefer to hear Rush or any music that was made previous to that date than any music since. I still mainly only listen to music made before then. It just seems to be better music to my ears. The other date February 27, 1987 the day my first (daughter) was born. That is one reason Power Windows was my last music purchase by anybody pretty much. Life has been a hazy fog since and the years have come and gone much to quickly.... :sigh: :codger:

  35. Look, IR, I didn't want to sound harsh either, but it really is time, at the age of 22, to take charge of your own life. And please stop with the "what ifs" - they don't help a bit. If you choose to do so, you can put your life in the direction you want it to go in.

  36. Your parent's used to scream at you about being useless? Maybe this is your time to make a clean break.
    1 point
  37. Not to sound harsh, but nothing will work out if you don't take some sort of action. I know I am a stranger, but I've dedicated my life to serving people...and most of those people have been complete strangers to me. My intentions are good. I was a highly decorated police officer and had more letters of appreciation in my personnel file than pretty much any other cop in my department.
    1 point
  38. Actually, if it's deemed that she is a danger to herself then yes...there will be a protective custody order put in place. Those are VERY temporary and rarely last beyond 3-7 days. Of course, that varies from state to state, but that's the average. Take it from someone that, as a police officer for 5 years, put well over 100 people into protective custody. And, I was a cop in a relatively small town. I have had MANY of those people get in touch with me and thank me for taking action. Many consider it the best thing they ever had happen to them. It's not a bad thing if she really needs help. IR, if you don't want to talk to a hotline, message me and I will give you my phone number. I'm not a psychiatric professional, but I know the criteria that has to be met in most instances for people to be placed in protective custody. I will help you.
