 Their best album post-HYF and pre-CA by a very long ways (though S&A was pretty darn good). Thank God they made this fantastic album in the middle of their weakest period.3 points

How could anyone consider watching this on YouTube a replacement for the disc? The sound quality on YouTube is atrocious, and the video quality sucks on anything but the smallest of screens. No thanks. I'll be listening in 5.1 and 1080p with the volume as high as possible without waking up the kids.3 points

In just one week, Counterparts will celebrate it's 20th anniversary! In my opinion, this was Rush's best 90's album. Hard to believe it's been this long! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5djyPm3sjY/TVYtMOuEuNI/AAAAAAAACrg/QM6ZMn207Is/s320/Rush+Counterparts.jpg :cheers:2 points

True story: a coupla Saturdays ago at lunchtime my wife and I were sitting on the couch relaxing. I looked over at her and said "I'm hungry, go make me a sammich" and she actually did! I honestly didn't know what to do so I made it up to her by cooking dinner.2 points

Counterparts was their best post 80's album prior to Clockwork Angels! Great songs that haven't been played live on that one. Specifically Cut to the Chase and Alien Shore, two great songs that have been overlooked by the boys live.2 points

I love being able to have a professionally filmed and recorded DVD and live CD for each tour. I love the DVDs because these tours mean a great deal to me, and every time I watch the DVD it reminds me of great moments I had at gigs on the tour, and of the wonderful feeling of being among people who understand why my face looks like that. I love the CDs because I love the modern Rush sound and, especially on the material from Power Windows forward, much prefer the recent live renditions of these songs to the original studio recordings or previous live versions. Bootlegs are fun but they just don't really sound good enough to blast through the house on a chore-filled Saturday morning or to sweep me joyfully along the highway during a road trip in precisely the same way that Alex's bright, chiming riffs joyfully sweep the verses of The Spirit Of Radio into the choruses and breaks. Call me a sucker, but I am happy to give Rush my money in exchange for this rich resource2 points

Led zeppelin, often hailed as the biggest, baddest rock band of all time ,but do you agree? Do zep still deserve this accolade? did they ever deserve it? ive always found them hit and miss and failed to understand the hype surrounding them. i find them ok but thats it really.1 point

I was just wondering if anyone else saw the show tonight (if anyone else on here watches the late late show), because Rush got about half a minute of mention during the monologue. For those who did see it, what did you think? For those who did not, Basically Craig said he was disappointed that the new film Rush was not about the band, or as he puts it..."You know that Canadian Progressive Jazz Pop Rock Power Trio or whatever". He then goes on to catch himself to compliment them on how fast they move their fingers..."And then they pick up their Instruments" ;)1 point

I've seen many many concerts and LZ are in my top 3. Say what you may about how sloppy they were, blah blah blah, but they were freakin' intense on stage. Very God-like, at the time, in the music world. Their audience was loud and really into the band. I'm not sure about the comment that there are bands 100 X better than LZ, really ? It's all a matter of time and space and I am fortunate to say that I've seen LZ 14 times (1973, 1975 and 1977 between NYC and Philly ) so I have first hand knowledge, from what I can remember :codger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcS1H-4m41Y1 point

I just don't get it either. =/ I'm used to getting bashed for it, but I just always found their live performances (save for Jonesy and Bonzo) to be.....lackluster. Not impressive. (And yes, I am quite aware that I can't play like Jimmy Page or wail like Plant, but I'm still allowed to make these observations lmao.) I can think of.....well, at least a dozen other hard rock bands that *I* think are a hundred times better than Zep. I remember saying these things once, and my dad and brother glared at me like I just admitted to killing someone! well, cmon, now! I just don't think they're that great. There's a handful of their songs i like, but other than that, no can do.1 point

Hahaha, you just made me think of when I shared an apartment years ago, with the drummer from my band. He's an early riser while I'm the sleep late type of person, so he would put an 80s song on full blast, enter my room Kramer style in the most ridiculous outfit and drag me out. We then got the habit of doing the most ugly aerobics with that song blasting from the speakers. You might be dizzy the first 30 seconds, but it quickens you up faster than a strong brew of coffee :D :dweez: lmao nice!!!! hahaha "kramer style"- in my family, we have a point system for good jokes (bad jokes or questionable comments get negative points lol) - YOU, sir, are awarded 50 for that mental image hahaha. ;) And the points really don't mean much. haha. sounds like quite the spectacle! That would make me a morning person, i think!1 point

A great album that featured some of Geddy's most interesting bass lines, bass playing and bass tone ever from his awesome Wal basses!1 point

I agree. I'm still pissed they never released a DVD for the Test For Echo Tour that would have 2112 in its Entirety. other live shows I would like to have were the Counterparts and Roll the Bones Tours. Yes. Roll the Bones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj-LMNiAWnM&list=RD02YcKeYXMS0Qc Great clip but that was the main thing about Rush I hated in those days. I was always confused why they didn't do longer than 2 hour sets when Yes and other bands would do 2hr 30min plus sets. Also hated those medleys of 2 min of Red Barchetta and 30 sec of Spirit Of Radio - christ what's the point - it kills the mood/feel of a track!!1 point

Wow, I haven't heard that show mentioned for years. Watched a few of them back in the day. I was mainly interested because it starred John Gordon Sinclair, who is always great, and I loved him in films like Gregory's Girl. It's cool that you can watch them all on Youtube. I'll have to check some out again.1 point

I had a secret crush on Abba when I was pre-teen. Didn't want my friends to know as they would mock me. I used to listen to radio and whenever a song came on that I liked, I would record it on tape. Whenever I hear an Abba song I'm taken back to those days listening to radio, and playing the very first Sim City on MSDOS. I made myself feel old1 point

Personally can't wait to pick up the DVD. Going to the concerts on their tours are really an experience and the DVDs memorialize that. It's a moment in time we will never get back. Watching stuff on YouTube is alright for some things but I want to support these guys for their hard work. They've had a huge positive impact on my life. It's hard enough for musicians to make a living nowadays with all the free filesharing and ripping their music.1 point

I love this time of year! Sept-Dec = heaven. I love the crisp, cool weather, the smell in the air, the leaves changing colors, fires in the fireplace, comfort food morning, noon and night, lounging around in comfy sweatpants and big sweatshirts, and watching college football on Saturdays (Go Blue!).1 point

My 20-year old niece moved in today, and she brought her year-old blue-grey feline with her....or so she claimed. We couldn't find the cat ANYWHERE. We searched every nook and cranny in the house, upstairs and downstairs.....and there was NO CAT. I was lifting up furniture, using a flashlight.....found nothin'. We started thinking that she got outside somehow...... So I'm watching the Brewer game, thinking that my niece is almost in tears because her cat is gone, and lo and behold, the damned feline just meanders by my chair, checking me out. WHAT IS IT WITH YOU DAMNED CREATURES??!! DO YOU HAVE CLOAKING DEVICES??!! YOU HAD BETTER TELL ME WHERE YOU WERE HIDING!!!! :laughing guy:1 point

This is not about the OP, but....It cracks me up when slutty girls dress trashy and talk about "loving sex" etc etc and then become dismayed when they get humped and dumped.......Or when men date these girls and then get all uppity when the gal dresses slutty.1 point

Sometimes people attracts people who are not good for them for so many reasons. Low self-esteem, father/mother issues or inferiority complexes. Could be many things, and I won't jump to conclusions about OP here, just give my general 2 cents. I know it's so easy to become bitter when you got bad experience with men or women. :|1 point

Great idea. I've noticed there are a lot of red flags for men like that, i.e. they will want to do more than just hug you goodnight after a first date, or they will start asking you sexual/personal questions within the first week even, or make a lot of remarks about your physical appearance. I know it sounds old fashioned but it's true, make them wait if you want to see how they really are. YES! If a guy really likes you for YOU, he will be polite and friendly (NOT HORNY right away) and show an interest in your mind and the things you love. Very, very true. We aren't all mindless pigs.1 point

Oh he definitely did, she liked him too. I think I've watched the documentary about 5 times in the last week lol. The scenes with the two of them are my favorite. They both bonded over having children, and watching Alex talk about babies is just down-right adorable!1 point

As he should. He's so gorgeous, how could he not constantly stare at himself? Sex on legs that man is.1 point

The problem is, they're SUCH an influence on virtually all styles of music, and have been copied to such an extent, that their influence has become diluted now.1 point
