  2. Rush will never have a farewell tour. I'm sure of this because they take everything day by day and don't plan too far into the future... when you think about it, every time they finish a major tour they take a big break because they want to focus on families and other interests and have no thoughts of what's next. then eventually they slowly start talking and writing again when the spark hits and it leads to an album/tour.. I kind of look at it like retiring and then coming out of retirement every time they have a long break. every time these senior citizens do a tour, consider it a gift and remember it might be the last! ;)

  3. ** SOME SPOILER TALK BELOW** What an incredible final few minutes of the first episode in this last series. Wow. It happened a bit faster than I expected too. (Go Hank!!) After watching the opening scene I'm left feeling terribly sad for this entire family, as much as this is Walt's doing, his selfishness, his pride and ego. This all got started for the best and least selfish of reasons (quick way to provide for my family given my impending demise), albeit a risky scenario. To watch him come "home" to this clearly drug-seized and then ransacked home for the sole intent of retrieving a vial of deadly Ricin underscores just how quickly (2 years) this went from cancer diagnosis to God-only-knows what awaits. Where is his family now? What's left for Walt to do? What a freakin' colossal waste. In some ways I still root for his atonement because at his core, I believe Walt is a good soul..much like Vic Mackey from The Shield. But I suspect it will end poorly indeed. What a tragic, tragic thing to watch. That it moves me the way it does with its story, characters, writing, and acting says more than any compliment I can lavish upon it.

  4. Man, I don't know what it is, but almost ALL of Clockwork Angels is in my probably top 20 songs. It is honestly impossible to pick one. Cause then I'll go on a power windows spree, and then jump into some Counterparts, and then I'll feel bad for ignoring the 70's and go on a farewell to kings binge, its all just too much. lol.

  5. Its an amazing song. As has been said previously, it melts faces. The Ark of the Covenant melted less faces. Thematically, the song is amazing. It works in context of the CA concept, but could also be seen as Rush singing an ode to their own journeys. Its easy to take this song and apply it to my own humdrum life because there have been moments of highest highs and lowest lows, times where I basked and burned. And in the end, even though there is still so much to do, I would still live it all again. So yes, the one time I heard it concert, I screamed lyrics and air telegraphed, and enjoyed the hell out of it. That said, The Garden is a powerhouse of a song.

  6. Gather up my friends :) I searched the forum to see if a topic I'm about to make existed, but to no avail. So I'm gonna go ahead and do it now. I've been on this forum for a little while now, and as I was walking under a blue summer sky earlier today, I felt such an appreciation for this fine place, and most of all - you guys. I entered this forum when I was in a dark place in my life, and being here helped me direct my focus to get on with my life. I've been met with courtesy and respect, so I think it's time I let you know how much appreciate it :) Damn it, I love you guys  Let this thread be a place to spread some love! What do you appreciate about this forum and its members? :)

  10. We have to get this man to a hospital! A hospital? Doctor what is it? It's a big building with lots of patients but that's not important now? As for my feelings now that the tour is over and I know I'm looking at a likely 2 year hiatus at a minimum........"depressed" sums it up.

  11. There's not one band on that list that I can tolerate. The most offensive to me is John Mayer because of "Your Body is a Wonderland". That song makes me want to tear off my ears.

  12. Most of those bands are just cool to hate. I don't want to be cool for hating something. Most of them are dismissible, but if folks want to listen to them then to each his own. As Rush fans we know what it is like to be devoted to a hated band. Give those people with bad taste a little slack, they just haven't heard Moving Pictures yet. ;)

  16. Actually I would really like to hear the song without the drum solo. The song is long enough and has enough Peart in it for him to need to extended it with a drum solo. Beside all he was doing was triggering the same riff that Alex and Geddy had already recorded and playing around it. If you are going to do that, just have the guys play the riff themselves. :codger: I actually remember wondering wondering why they put the break (brake) in (on) live. I'll reassess when the CA live dvd comes out, but I sorta prefer HF going 88 mph at 1.21 gigawatts all the way through. oh hush! lol that's Rush.. duckin', weavin' and changin' it up all the time like they always have! I know what you're saying though. I like playing drums along to Budgie's 'Breadfan' but when I come to that slow boring middle section it just kills it for me.. kinda the same thing.

  17. At the RRHOF Geddy's said they view themselves as a work in progress...they are far from done. They will continue to be creative...it's in their bones. It's what they do. Get ready to be blown away. Clockwork Angels is a new path forward. Get ready for sock puppets and blow-up dolls on stage.

  20. Yesterday, I went with Eric to get a new chain and some other bits and bobs for his XR650 maintenance. I found a dual sport bike that I can safely straddle and barely touch bottom on. Tippy toes, but its do able. I like it. Its a Yamaha 250. I guess I need to start getting used to the idea of me doing wheelies. I will need to get the balancing act of weigjt displacement, throttle and clutch control down so I can get over trail obstacles. Eric asked me if I dound a bike I want.. I said yes. Finally. Its taken me a while to get to this point. Last night, after he finished his nike, I asked him to ride with me. I filled his tank up and we went for a short 25 mile scoot around the area. Its been stormy here, so I thought it would be fun. The sky was partly cloudy with an orange sunset to the west, a crescent moon with the opening facing my precious eastern wilderness. There was a low but bright planet twinkling happily. To my east, the cloudse were moody and very black in the night sky. Pink and purple flashes of lightning were fitfully showing themselves over the mountain. There was low fog we rode through where the air was dense and cool. It felt nice aftwr the opressing humidity and warmth. The air was too warm and heavy earlier. It was absolutely beautiful. I started the ride witha considerable amount of upset. Little things have been avalanching onto my shoulders and I had to outrun these demons and reset myself. Riding hard around the corners, dipping quickly around curvy chicanes and perfectly cambered corners I finally was free. I even managed to lose Eric in the corners, I'm not sure if that was purposely, or if I'm getting faster. I wasn't trying hard either. Hes normally very quick. I reset my world. I rode with Eric and had a great time. Even over the stupid people in cars blocking traffic and the drunk driver we trailed for 5 miles and the idiot in a white car with a bad case of idiot type road rage. *eye roll* http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/spiritcreekmountain/20130810_160435.jpg This is the dual sport I'm considering. ETA picture of bike and E in the background. Barring idiots, that was a ride where your heart takes a picture to save forever.

  21. Orchestra-Yes, Stadiums-hopeful, props-please dear god, every thing else-hell no. Guest Musicians especially. Additionally, I don't think they will ever plan a long term farewell tour, because that would mean they would still be in good playing condition and they are predicting that will be it. No, I can see a farewell show being announced, I can see something sudden coming up that makes them say we can at best only do one or two more performances, but I could never see rush saying, "we can't write anything new, touring is boring, lets close shop and make an extra buck", cause that is not them.

  27. All this came out of comments that Geddy made back in the 80's when The Who was doing their Farewell Tour. Which wasn't the case obvisouly, cause they tour endlessly after that. Regardless, Geddy did say that "That's a nice way to go out!" When The Who was doing their Stadium tour in the 80's. Anyway, I understand that they aren't a stadium band but if they limit themselves to only a few nights (15) and play in centralized cities like New York, Raleigh, Atlanta, Kanas City, LA, Denver, Dallas, Miami, Seattle, Chicago, etc. I think they could sell out the place or at least have a good showing since they won't be appearing anwhere else. Yeah some people will get lucky and some will have to travel but Hey its an Event now. Additionally, by announcing that its their Farewell Tour it would let every fan know that If you want to see RUSH this is it and knowing RUSH they will keep their word and not tour any longer. They will sell more way more tickets this way! Why not Opening Acts? Geddy has already stated that they might be going this way again and having two Opening Acts will still give them enough time to play for 2.5 Hours. As for the guest vocalist idea, I put that in 'cuase honestly I think that the only way we'll hear a song like Hemispheres ever again. As for the strings, I think they enjoyed that way too much to not reuse them. Actually I think they might go bigger next time and tour with a full Orchestra. But thats me, and I can't stop thinkking big! :codger: they have had trouble selling out large venues in big cities for one night, not sure they could fill 6,000 seat halls for multiple nights, plus with Geddy's need for a day off in between, they can't play five straight nights in one city so they would have to be there for like two weeks, not sure its really a viable idea.... maybe a special five night run at massey hall, but i can't see them doing multiple nights in atlanta or kansas city, etc... Where in the hell did I state five straight nights in one city? Its a tour with 15 night, one night in each City and notnot consecutively. They could play every fourth day for all I care.... Ph wait you' are responding to the other post... My Bad! :outtahere: As for the orchestra question. Behind the band like the Moody Blues! Gemini: The boys liked touring with the strings, they don't need to toss anything, except unyielding fans. (No Insult to anyone in particular! )

  33. Headlong Flight is a straight-out ass kicker. Simple as that. At the Chicago show last September, they nailed it. I cheered every song at that concert, sang to every song, air-drummed (badly) to everything they played, just like we all did...but Headlong Flight was the only song I stood up and applauded a few seconds before it ended, in appreciation that they could still bring it with this much fury and kick-assedness at this stage of the game. And I know many of you stand throughout entire Rush concerts lol, but we were upper deck front row, so we could actually sit through most of the show and still see everything. It's such a triumphant, all-in, thumper of a song. Easily one of my favorites.

  36. Well, losingit2k, you may be onto something with the full orchestra, but I don't see just a handful of songs being released without being part of a larger album. It just isn't practical. But getting back to the orchestra concept, Rush could play some deep cuts like "Different Strings" and "Losing It." Where do you think the orchestra would go (hypothetically)? Would there be a pit in front of the stage? Could the orchestra go on more risers begin Neil?

  37. I thought I had read somewhere that Ged said they would prefer to let the fans know when they are announcing their last tour. Maybe I'm wrong but I swear there was an interview I saw somewhere where he was commenting on the Police tour and talking about how they respect the fans enough to let them know.

  38. I wouldn't be surprised if we've just witnessed Rush's end game. Go out on top basking in the glow of one of their strongest CDs, a damn fine tour, and RRHOF status. To be clear, this isn't what I want, but I won't be surprised if this is it.

  39. Expanding the orchestra is plausible I think. However in regards to how they should go out: I hope they don't announce anything, or do a farewell tour. It's too gimmicky and cheesy. Whenever a band does that I think to myself yeah and then they'll make a sh*tload of money on their comeback tour. :)

  42. AGHHHH I LOVE IT. Exactly! Original Halloween is my all time fave horror movie. No gore, but it is terrifying and the suspense is smothering at times. Love it. It's also something that's realistic, not some CGI fake monster. A psychopathic killer in a mask butchering people, it's happened. I hate gore. Movies that are bloody just for the sake of being gross. I've never seen Halloween for some odd reason. Maybe I should take the time and watch some night ;) It could be that I'm prone to suspenseful movies, or my natural disposition to anxiety and nervousness makes me wanna get it out of my system. Have you ever walked through a forest or park when dark, and been sure you saw or heard something in the shadows? I do everytime <--- to scared to look smiley, lol. Kubrick did it well in The Shining with the two twin girls. Now it seems to me that most directors think "hey let's have a little girl in a dress, and make her evil. Yeah, that'll work". I don't like evil little kids. I always said, I love my daughter, but he second her eyes turn red and she vomits blood all over me or crawls up the wall, I am OUTTA THERE. Halloween is great!! A simple scene in it where Michael Myers just calmly steps out from behind a row of hedges and stares silently at Laurie as she walks down the sidewalk. Or when she sees him in her backyard staring at her through her through her bedroom window!! Creepy!! XD Oh my imagination ALWAYS gets the best of me. I'm 23 years old and still find myself dashing to the bedroom after I turn out that last light at night haha "I always said, I love my daughter, but he second her eyes turn red and she vomits blood all over me or crawls up the wall, I am OUTTA THERE."<-- LOL :laughing guy: And when all the lights are turned off and you are safe and sound in bed, you start to wonder if you remembered to lock the front door!

  44. All three are great albums Earl. Back in Black is arguably AC/DC's masterpiece though, with no down moments. Electric and High N Dry have some filler. So it's Back in Black. Put Pyromania in there, however, and Back in Black would go down. Loving Electric Peace though.
