Another article on the RRHOF from the Village Voice. Didn't they employ that clown Christgau for a while? http://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/2013/04/rush_rock_and_roll_hall_of_fame.php?page=23 points

Yes, the whole Commonwealth is very upset by this heinous act. All of my thoughts and prayers are with the families of those effected. Even the local news folks are having a hard time keeping their emotions in check. It is heartbreaking on so many levels. The Marathon is a huge source of pride for Boston. It is a chance for our city to shine as the gem it is and host The Marathon - a testament to achievement and endurance. Shell shocked, angry, sad, defiant, confounded by the motivation - these are all emotions that I am feeling. Feelings shared by most of the world. My understanding of the emotions experienced by those in NYC, Washington, OKC, London, Madrid, and too many others places around the world grew exponentially on Monday. The kindness and thoughts for Boston, and unity with Boston, is very heartwarming. I saw a photo last night of two Iragi boys (and I can't even *imagine* what they have experienced in their young lives) holding a sign saying "We mourn with Boston". :( :rose: http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-sad007.gif3 points

For over 40 years (and counting) Rush has given to its fans an immeasureable amount of musical content and collectible history. Fans from around the world can never seem to get enough of these guys, scooping up everything from vinyl to posters to buttons to some of the most bizarre memorabilia imaginable. When it comes to Geddy, Alex, and Neil, my vice starts with the music; and more specifically, vinyl. I love vinyl. The love the tactile sensation of holding on gingerly to the wax-like medium. I love the way it looks. I love the sound. Vinyl and what goes in to manufacturing vinyl, from the outer cover art to the actual grooves is pure magic. And I love Rush. Combine the two, and what you come up with a pretty nice (and still growing) collection. As with any type of entertainment collectible, there are the normal items (LPs and 45s), but every now and again, something pops up in the "least expected" pile. I stumbled upon one such thing the other day and being the completeist, I had to jump all over it. These "discs" are seemingly very rare and obscure. Called "Flexi discs", the history shows that they were a relatively common promotional item that sometimes was attached to magazines to showcase an artist or an audible message. The disc I found was manufactured by a company called Budkon. I'm not sure if this is a Russian or Polish company, but back in the early '90s, they manufactured coloured flexi discs of several artists. Note however, that these disks were "unauthorized" (wink wink). These paper-thin, single track 45s were apparently produced in very limited numbers (possibly in the dozens) and notoriously produced horrible sound. While the songs are recognizable, the background noise truly makes these non-listenable, especially as most people have these tracks on better vinyl or digitally. The covers seem like they are printed or copied on computer paper. Check out the link below for more details (referring to Husker Du flexis, but offers a really good explanation). http://www.thirdav.c...scog/budkon.htm I managed to find not onw, but three from our favorite band: Distant Early Warning (Live) Driven The Enemy Within I don't plan to play these on my new turntable with my high end cartridge, but I felt like I had to share these with both the Rush and vinyl communities. Hardly high-quality, but nonetheless, some really interesting pieces of Rush history. Do you have anything in your vinyl collection that is "out there"? http://i.imgur.com/RUOOUX3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GW28MnC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ymlNgxw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6iRPNis.jpg http://i.imgur.com/T1rwNB9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/utn0hFc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UtqBYTL.jpg2 points

I think I've said this before somewhere, but 'Flick' is Powerage's bastard son. Powerage is THE best AC/DC album IMO, but the rawness of Flick just sits nicely after the slickness of Mutt Lange produced albums. Very underrated.2 points

No. The chance of a proper Pink Floyd reunion died Richard passed. Agreed. He was too big a part of what they did for me to accept the others as a "reunion" I see your point about "reunion". Would you accept a "Get Together"? How about a "Meeting" ? "Gathering"? Oh I got it, a "Reintrigration"? Would you take "Reunification"? Oh, I give up! :P Rendezvous1 point

What ever happened to the dissatisfied cry baby Rush fan that was intent on suing the band because they wouldn’t play during a thunderstorm in Chicago on the Time Machine tour? If I remember correctly he had spent some “Big Money” on air fare and the tickets for the show and put legal action on the band for not plating, tickets stated "Rain or shine" was his battle cry1 point

I loved the CA material. It's cool to hear fresh material live. I think the CA material propped up some of the stale classics. ;)1 point

:o Compared to FTATR? You've got to be kidding. You need to give it another listen Stevie! :hail: I agree!! Comparable to FTATR for sure. I love everything after BIB as well. even Ballbreaker and Stiff Upper Lip! again, that is just me- I love every AC/DC album. No duds, IMO. I admit it took a while to grow on me, but now I am absolutely hooked lol. Tenacious D, I like ya, buddy!! hahaha FOTS!!!!!! :dweez: :sundog: :syrinx: :haz: and a cheeseburger for good luck! :burger: Yup, love it! My favorite Johnson era album. Oh, and hobo73, I LOVE Ballbreaker and SUL! Still don't understand the hate those albums get from AC/DC fans. yeah I know- it's like you either love those albums or hate them. There are definitely cheesy tongue in cheek songs (Cover You In Oil, anyone?) but they are awesome! My favorite Johnson era album....hmm. I have to say Razors Edge. Not just because Thunderstruck is on it, but I love every song. I find it interesting my fave Johnson album is one with Chris Slade and not my beloved Phil lol Another under rated album? Blow Up Your Video.1 point

What did you expect from the RRHOF? They told the band "now guys....let's hear those hits" Kinda reminds me of that scene in the movie "The Doors" when they play sullivan and the program director goes to Jim Morrison....instead of saying Higher you can sing "baby you can't get much better". LOL. Anyway as expected we are getting the standard Rush trifecta that you hear on every radio station in North America. As predicted. But so what....they are going to kill it.1 point

Dear Ray Daniels, please let Abby have a backstage pass. She plays a mean ax and cleans her room on a semi-regular basis. Sincerely, TRF. Ok guys, sign the petition. 15 year old female Rush fan...why weren't there any girls this cool when I went to high school?1 point

Am I the only one who thinks they should play something from CA?? Too many people think of Rush as a 70's/80's band.. Rush always has looked forward. Why not play something like 'the Garden' instead of living in the past for them assclowns..1 point

YOU bumped this? I figured it was Sheldon. :P I don't think I ever saw this. Well no, it IS three and a half years old. Did Babycat do a search for "boob"? No, she did not do a search for boob. The only result that comes up when you do a search for boob is Sheldon Cooper. No boob searches - I don't know what happened..! :P1 point

They will play The Necromancer from beginning to end...then Geddy will say...'hey RRHOF....suck it!' and they'll storm off the stage. Then I woke up.1 point

That´s nothing compared to what they did with Mark Evans - the original bass player of AC/DC. He played on a bunch of their first albums - incluyding TNT, High Voltage, Dirty Deeds and Let There Be Rock, and was completely ignored by the band and the RRHOF.1 point

It's a pretty vague definition really. 'True' Viking metal is basically a variation on Black Metal and ambient music with a folky twist, and in that sense Amon Amarth etc aren't Viking Metal at all. That said, they've come to be know as pretty much the definitive Viking Metal band, simply because they look and pretty much exclusively write lyrics about vikings and now most people associate it with Folk metal and melo-death.1 point
