  1. We met online. For the 4th of July, I would usually go to the beach and watch the bonfires and fireworks. For some reason, on that particular 4th of July, I didn't feel like going to Humarock and fighting through crowds and traffic and decided to join an online dating site instead. I signed up for a six month membership. Two hours after joining, I got an e-mail asking if we could meet. A few days later, we met at a restaurant and talked and shared a meal. We had both been through tough on-again/off-again relationships and were looking for some stability. She had also forgone her usual plans for the 4th of July, choosing instead to look online at the same dating site. Two weeks later, I went to a party with her and her family. We spent the day together and I couldn't remember ever feeling so at ease with someone. She was funny, she was easy to know, she was humble, she has the most amazing blue eyes I have ever seen. We talked long into the night. I never did go on any other dates from that dating site. Turns out, I didn't need a six month membership, I only needed a two hour one. We are quite the opposite of the other. She has simple tastes and is easy to understand. She is very down to earth and humble. Me, not so much. We balance and compliment each other. She pulls me back from my flights of fancy and I round her out world and teach her new things (like Rush!). Of course, there are down times too, but I would not trade a single day of the time she has been in my life. She makes me a better person and I love her with all of my heart. I am grateful to have her in my life and I feel lucky to have found such a grounded and loving person. Our marriage is a natural extension of this feeling and our commitment to a life together. Today is our second wedding anniversary. We both wish we'd met 20 years earlier. Of course, we couldn't have gotten married back then.

  2. Hey, peeps! Our very own Mystic Slipperman (aka Matt, and all around cool guy and great musician) is starting a radio show this Monday called Playground of Sound! The show will be 6-9pm PST (9-12pm EST), and will be a "free-form 3-hour radio show every Monday night on www.DeepNuggets.com." - It promises to be a great, eclectic show. Matt has, IMHO, excellent taste in music, so expect a great, fun, varied show. He gets the Official Goober Seal of Approval™! I'm going to be in the chat room during the show if anyone wants to join me, unless I hear about a chat room on that site or something. I'm sure Matt will chime in with more info shortly. Here's the facebook link with the invite to the debut show: https://www.facebook...66173620122993/ Oh yeah, and to get a sense of his taste in music, check out his recently posted top 100 album list in the next post (with the understanding that these kinds of lists change all the time):

  5. Hi YAYA, What a great idea you have. I'm gonna do Kale, basil, sage....love that smell when cooking with it. Catnip is a great idea too....I have a cat!!! Flowers all the time. Funny thing, in the rocks, I swear I've never planted flowers and you wouldn't believe the HUGE Snapdragons....like a bush....that come and are stil here through winter..mind you, they don't flower in winter, but wow...lol And, petunias come up and I planted last year (dug up from me neighbor, so we can share) Daffodils and those, I can't think of the name, but they do look like spider plants.... Love impatients too!

  8. Yeah it's not gonna come close, but once you realise and accept the idea, there's no reason why you can't enjoy this new one for what it is. It has a different thing going on but, much more low key and much more emphasis on the atmospheric I think I'm gonna like it though. I'm primed for the deluxe edition! :D-13: I'm digging it more than the first...just the weirdness of it... So far, really disappointing, but I haven't heard all of it yet. All for weirdness so that's a good start. One of these days we're all going to get into REAL METAL, the likes of which have never been seen or heard! :o :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze: :blaze:

  10. I'm saving that. Hopefully I still remember it when I have kids, it would probably be something they'd ask to watch over and over again.

  14. So, lemme get this straight... if they don't tour and perform according to your wants and needs, then they are not good people? Interesting way to look at being a 'fan'.

  15. This reminds me of sports events: About two or three years back, the teachers said that the kids are 'not allowed to lose', that if one child is in the lead, he or she has to 'slow down so that the others can catch up'. Honestly...

  16. I'm not so sure that "more is better". It's been my experience that having a small group of close friends is far better than having a large group of not-so-close friends. I'd rather have a few best friends than a hundred casual friends/acquaintences. You can count on the close group; not so much with the other group. And besides, it's impossible to be friends with everybody. There's just not enough time in the day.....

  17. Oh no, I agree, Bring them at your own inconvenience. My kids don't annoy anyone at shows. Actually, its the contrary, many fans come up to me and tell me how great my kids are at the shows. They know every song and now they have begun to air drum to parts. To see, they always stand on the seat behind me and use my sholders as a brace. One of my best memories as a dad was watching RUSH last year with one kid drapped over each sholders. It was a perfect moments!

  19. It is indeed, along with ocean noises. "I Am The Sea." I'm a little younger than you are and didn't get the opportunity to see Quadrophenia live (well, until this year, which is a whole other story), but the record was a great source of solace to me during some very difficult teen years. The other day I listened to it through headphones with my eyes closed the way I used to, and it still felt the same.
