As sure as night follows day. If he was a dog, I'd have him neutered. Just to calm him the f**k down. Then, I'd glue mittens to his hands. This is a great clip, cannot WAIT for the DVD & album to come out. Both pre-ordered. Up the IRONS!2 points

Nothing will beat the '80 through '83 sound, drums, guitar, Geddy's Rick and analog Synths and Taurus. Like others have said, Neils drum sound was spot on (although his drum sound was the most consistant from 1980 though 1994 with the Tama's and Ludwigs) The DW's have killed that classic RUSH drum sound.2 points

Oh my My cat Vish paws at me as I read..and weep. Kinda left the three kitties hungry this morning to take care of Misty, and well...anyway You guys are the best. Truly the best. AND MISTY WAS MY WIFE'S DOG! I just got so attached to her. When I'd go see Diane (before we were married) I'd let myself in and Misty & Nicky (her boy Shepherd) would run up and down her apartment "Mommy the guy's here! The Guy Mommy the GUY" I'd yell as they barked and carried on. After Nicky passed Misty still acted up and I still translated her barking and carrying on. She was my football baseball afternoon nap buddy, movie buddy TV pal. If i got too upset over a bad play, she sneak out hang with Mommy for a little bit til I calmed down then we'd share chips n dip or whatever I was eating...even after I'd fed her. "You ate already i just fed you...remember?" And that look.."Yeah Dad but what's dat can i have sum? Pweeze?" Neither of us knew she was 13. I guess she'll always be our other big little kid2 points

I dunno man, Alex's guitar work on S and A was fantastic to me. There's something I just love about the layering of acoustic and distorted guitars and Alex sprinkles it throughout, PLUS he finally brought back the glorious open string chorusy chimes from their more technical days. Armor and Sword could be consideres a microcosm of Lifeson's entire body of guitar work. It's got everything, open strings, natural harmonics, chorus and delay, chunky power chords, and tasty acoustic work.1 point

As sure as night follows day. If he was a dog, I'd have him neutered. Just to calm him the f**k down. Then, I'd glue mittens to his hands. I have the impression that they keep him Gers the band out of friendship - he stepped up to replace Adrian, and kept it together during the tough Blaze years where they played small venues. They wanted Adrian back but did not have the guts to fire him. If I was in the band I´ds try to keep his collaboration to a minimum - even keep his guitar way down in the mix, or even unplug it like they did with Syd Barret in his final years with Pink Floyd. And for the record, I don´t think Gers is a bad guitar player - check out his work on Bruce´s solo album Tattooed Millionnaire or even Fish´s Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors - I just think he makes the worst choices in terms of solos, and always goes for full distortion and whammy bar to the max...he can play, he just won´t do it right!1 point

the band were asked this exact question once and their answer was Natural Science..1 point

Hiya Duckie How are you my arbor dwelling feathered friend? I'm good thanks, how are you these days? :hi: :smoke: Busy, busy, busy.... nary a dull moment at our house. I'd like to say there's a light at the end of the tunnel, but I don't think there is any time soon - So we enjoy the busy-ness as much as we can and dream of those times we're told we will miss when we have nothing to do.1 point

As a drummer, one that I haven't seen mentioned yet is Where's My Thing. It's not from the classic era, but there are some mean fills and off time grooves going on in that thing. It's from that era when Neil wanted to be jazz, and had some of the technicals down, but not the feel as much. So you get this weird Neil Peart intensity and feel, with a few groove and rhythmic ideas that are pretty alien to rock. Once Neil 'mastered' jazz, he became much more laid back on just how his filling was happening I think. Might have been a bit of "jazz overcompensation" on his part, knowing that he wasn't quite there yet with it internally. It it harder than La Villa? I dunno, probably depends on your personal style and set up and such. Just a thought.1 point

I vote for the early 80s as well. I think the sound on the St. Louis bootleg is incredible, for one. I tend to think that music in that era just sounded better, period. There's no compression. There's headroom on everything. There's no virtual instruments; they're all the real thing. And all this at the very end of the analog era. As someone else said - this was before the Simmons drums. Geddy was using his Oberheims, which are my favorite synths of all time. Live he was alternating between his Jazz and his Rickenbacker, Alex was using his big old Gibsons with the simple choruses. It was the right combination of polish without being over-polished. I also think that the sound changed for the worst when Neil retired the old No. 1 Slingerland and went to the DWs. I've just never been terribly fond of DWs in general.1 point

I think some of the latter albums stand up very well in terms of epicness. Not as stellar as Seventh Son, but quite epic nonetheless. A Matter of Life & Death in particular.1 point

By far for me their best sonic output live was the 80-81 period of Wavs and Pictures. They hit their peak musically as well as their live chops. Everything was organic, and precision was truly the mantra each show. Although Geddy was out of pitch some nights (back then no in-ear monitors), Neils drums were amazing, geddy's bass sound was thick and meaty and Alex was truly a technical genius for his time. I have enjoyed every tour to be frank, but the mid 80's felt uneven to me. They were finding their way with all the new technology, and Geddy was buried behind the keys and mini moogs and triggers. Plus I felt they played too fast sometimes during the mid 80's. Counterparts and T4E were amazing sonically. A return to Marshalls for Alex (I do like his H&K too now) and a meaty sound every since. Snakes and Arrows was the best I had ever heard the band live. Both legs were amazing, geddy was the best I had ever heard him sing live, and the set list on leg one was so awesome. Last year CA blew me away. And I have a feeling this year we will get another amazing sonic feast. Got my tickets yesterday!!!! April come on down!!!!1 point

I have some good ones: Replace "The Body Electric" with "MYSTIC RHYTHMS" ("Middletown Dreams" can stay, I like that song). Drop "Bravado" and keep "THE PASS" in permanently. Replace "Where's My Thing?" with "MALIGNANT NARCISSISM" and add "LIMELIGHT" afterward to make up for the time difference. Add "LA VILLA STRANGIATO." It would sound amazing with the strings! Add it before "The Spirit of Radio" and put "YYZ" at the end of the set. I'm sure they can incorporate strings into "The Spirit of Radio!"1 point

The reason for that might be our policy on religious discussion. We don't really allow it outside of The Sense O'Clock News, our political forum.1 point

My Counterparts SACD showed up today and I'm just now getting through my first listen. I only have the original 93 CD release to compare it to, but I can say without question that on my system, the SACD blows the original away. Geddy's bass has more balls, the overall soundstage is tighter, with greater separation between instruments. Vocals are also crystal clear and not buried in the mix. Most importantly, the SACD isnt brickwalled to all hell like the original CD is and you can crank the SACD with zero distortion. If you have SACD playback capability, I highly recommend this one. Another interesting aspect of the SACD is that Stick it Out is about 20 seconds longer and Nobody's Here is also longer than the original CD. Kind of neat!1 point

Amen dude...I hope that they stick around long enough for my oldest to see them...he's just 7. I've taken him to NASCAR races but they noise was too much for him even though I did everything possible to make it bearable for him. He really likes "Caravan" and HF...he's gonna be a drummer...it's in his bones NASCAR's louder than a Rush show?1 point

Kids at concerts annoy me. Don't bring them and then expect me to sit or move out of the way so they can see. That's your problem, not mine. BTW, I've had this happen more than once.1 point
