Here's a great collection of concert photos from the April 13th, 1975 show at the Aviation Field, Forest Park as part of the KSHE Kite Fly Festival -- in St. Louis, Missouri. http://cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/concert-stlouis-04.13.1975.php Check out the boys -- including Neil - signing autographs...! Ive never listened to Opeth, not once, not even by accident, not one song. But i was reading how they are one of the biggest exponents of the progressive metal in the last 20 years or so. So i said, "meeeh, why not..." and looked for one of their cited songs: "Advent". It started playing and as soon as the music started i said "this is not bad at all", it continued for a moment and i said "this is actually pretty good", it kept going and i said "wow, this is really awesome"... and then the f***ing vocals started... those stupid annoying growls and shrieks and all that bullshit that i hate so much in black and death metal. My heart plummeted to my feet. i kept listening for a while, and the music just kept getting better and better, but those hideous growls just continued to get in the way. I had to stop it. I'm heartbroken right now. What a way to ruin some awesome music. If it wasn't for those stupid vocals i would be getting all their albums now.2 points

Our 13 year old Husky is making the trip as I type. Poor thing, a cold, a little congestion and almost like Dick Clark...someone turned the anti aging program off on him? Her age caught up with her. Been breathing like a coal miner with a 3 pack a day habit, no energy, hasn't eaten a bite and whatever water she drinks comes back up in minutes. Major benign lymphomas on two of her nipples which hurt her like hell. http://img1.imagehousing.com/90/fed82881c1621a1b71c91999dfa5bd1d.jpg We never realized it, but since she's so blonde, we never saw a gray hair on her! And our favorite game was RUF! I'd ask her if she wanna play RUF! and toss that damn PeepeeJack further and further off the side porch into the backyard and she'd run and get it...bring it back but only after she did her business. ;) So for the last ten days whenever I got here, TRF was my Great Escape. I can't thank you guys enough for that <32 points

I really cannot understand why anyone would want any song removed from the set list because of the high notes required to sing them. Rush would not be Rush without Geddy Lee. He sounded great live when he was here. Not on just some songs, but all the songs. The Snakes & Arrows DVD is great, so is R-30. He sounds just fine to me. Not the same, but still fine and in some cases he sounds better! Geddy Lees voice has been an issue of controversy since the inception of Rush. if you don't like his voice, you might as well find another favorite band. Geddy Lee is Rush and Rush is Geddy Lee.2 points

My bad. This is something I learned of today. I checked the post date, it's from before I became active on the forum. So in my defence... :) Don't worry about it. It's actually kind of ridiculous for the thread police to be nailing people for reposts of things that are 2 1/2 years old. I mean, what were you supposed to do? Search for Yoko Ono threads, see if any of them had that video, and them bump them? Then the same guy might give you grief for reviving an old thread. We need a little more good fellowship, and a lot less thread policing around here. Yup. In any case, Yoko was shit then, now, and 40 years ago2 points

I can so appreciate your burning desire to have a meet & greet experience.... I had the chance to do a meet & greet once in 2004 and it was very satisfying... If I ever got another meet & greet pass I think I would be compelled to give it to someone like you, for free, so you could experience it too... You can spend your money any way you choose, its your money, but I hope somehow you get the chance for a meet & greet from the goodness of someone's heart and not from a financial transaction... That said, if I got a pass, would you go $1500? Okay, bad attempt at humor....just kidding..... I hope you get to meet them....just remember, its only 30 seconds or so and as wonderful as Geddy & Alex are with the fans, you are going to be one of a large group that night, so its not like you are sitting down with them for drinks and a snack....2 points

I recently turned 45 and realized that this smoking habit, which I picked up at age 20 while thinking "oh, I'm young, I can quit before I've totally wrecked my health" needs to go. I have an appointment tomorrow with my GP and hopefully will leave with a prescription for Chantix. I desperately want to quit, but I know I will need some help. I've known a few people who've had great success with Chantix. It is expensive, over $200 month (and my insurance won't cover it), but hopefully I will not need it for longer than 3 months. Plus I got a coupon for $75 off/month for up to 4 months. So there's that. Why am I quitting? After all, I'm not a heavy smoker (about 1/2 pack per day), can go extended periods of time without losing my shit over a craving, and can honestly say I really DO enjoy the ones I smoke. Several reasons, really. - I now cough like a fiend sometimes after a hard cardio workout. That's kind of scary and is telling me something. - My chest x-rays on a recent physical were clean. I'd like to keep them that way. - At the grocery store the other day, I saw a blue man. Seriously - he was on oxygen but was so compromised that he was bluish in color. I don't want to get that way. I now have a pretty good idea of what people with COPD and congestive heart failure feel like. This past week I've had a horrendous case of sinusitis leading to bronchitis. I'm still improving but now have experienced that scary feeling of not being able to get enough air. In my case the shortness of breath is due to the illness, but it is really really frightening and exhausting sometimes - I've had to sit down and catch my breath after doing something so mundane as getting dressed for work. It is not something I want to become chronic as a result of smoking. (And no, I haven't been smoking at all while I've been sick with the sinusitis. I am fairly sure that my head would come off if I were to try). So wish me luck! This is probably going to suck.1 point

I've tried them several times and they have terrific sound. One point to note with these is that they aren't really suitable for heavy exercise as the small earbuds might fall out. Highly recommended.1 point

i'd recommend what i did, which was to get a nice pair of sennheiser headphones used - i have an HD600, but even used that will cost you more than your budget - ones that aren't quite as nice are still great - you can't miss with sennheiser - i'd say get the most expensive model you can afford used on ebay or craigslist or something.1 point

Many people blame Yoko Ono for the break-up of The Beatles, but I've always liked her. Yes, she's overrated as an artist, but her output is prolific and she's an intriguing character.1 point

Just saw it, I really liked it. Could have been cut from 127 min to 103 mins and cut some dragging sections. Well done, fun family film. Entertaining for sure. Love the use of 3d effects, well done. ***spoiler warning below*** *no ruby slippers, MGM owns the copyright, no news if they even bothered to haggle for the mention. It would have been of little benefit anyway. In the book the slippers were silver, the studio in 1939, in an effort to exploit tecnicolor opted for dazzling ruby red over silver. No mention of view is centered at any time on the witches slippers.1 point

Think you used enough dynamite there? If he'd just pay me what he's spending to make me stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him. Alright, before we get started we need to lay out some rules. Rules? There are no rules in a knife fight! Sure there are. Someone needs to count 1, 2, 3, go. 1, 2, 3, go. or I can't swim! Classic. :ebert:1 point

Winter is lingering in this neck of the woods. We get a few centimetres of snow almost daily. And it's cold. March 20 is supposed to be the first day of spring, I hope it shows up and is not a KHAN job!1 point

About 25 years ago I called my "then wife" the C word. Even though she just finished calling me a C sucker, it was a huge mistake... I ended up sleeping in the dog kennel for two nights. Yep, me and three wet and smelly black labs, snoring, drooling and farting all night. The dogs were snoring, drooling and farting too, so the air was pretty raunchy in there.1 point
