I got up this morning to go to the gym, expecting an inch or two of snow on the ground. When I looked out the window I saw about 1 foot had fallen since last night. And, as I'm typing this, it is still coming down quite hard. I quickly cleared my driveway to get in for a 10:00 meeting. When I got in to the office, I learned the other attendee had cancelled because of the snow. When I walk back to the train station later today, the first clown I see driving a Prius with some type of global warming bumper sticker on it is getting a rock through their rear window.2 points

I've seen some mention of Joe around these parts, but I thought I'd start a thread devoted to his music. Joe has been working steadily on his solo career for about the last ten years. He has released 9 studio albums, 3 live albums, and 3 concert DVD's. Hehas said on Facebook that he's cut the tracks for his next solo album over the summer, and hopefully that will be released sometime next spring. Earlier this year he co-founded the band Black Country Communion with singer/bassist Glenn Hughes , drummer Jason Bonham, and keyboardist Derek Sherinian. They released their debut CD on September 23rd. They are already talking about returning to the studio to write and record their second album this winter. So if you are looking for new music from an extraordinary talent, he could very easily be the source. His entire back catalog only goes back ten years, but there is so much to take in. Joe has a very liberal recording policy at his shows, and as a result, there is a wealth of YouTube videos out there displaying his amazing talent.1 point

Most Canadians will know who Stompin' Tom Connors was. He passed away on March 6 at age 77. I love his song 'The Good Old Hockey Game' . He was a true Canadian. RIP.1 point

One of the rare Canadian artists that was outwardly patriotic. Canadians have a lot to be proud of, and he knew it. RIP.1 point

I see this crap all of the time. I know this guy who will seriously listen to the first 30 or so seconds of a song and then switch it once the first chorus is over. Music is art, but the suits have turned it into a disposable commodity. Slap together a combination of commercially safe lyrics, 120 bpm 4/4 bass-snare beats, and a major key chord progression. Play it constantly for a month on the radio. Rinse, repeat. Music is downloaded for free at an alarming rate, so the only way to make money is over-expose stuff so that everybody hears it and at least some of those people actually buy the single. All they want are showers, nobody has time for growers. I can't imagine one of those types hearing Anesthetize. I wanted to turn it off the first time I listened to it, but I stuck with it. I gave it a few listens to get comfortable with the song, and by the 3rd time, I was hooked. I could see someone trying to make it through the first movement, giving up within a minute and switching to The Black Eyed Peas.1 point

These are from an awesome cruise I recently got back from. We ported from New Orleans. What a cool city! http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb50/workingcinderellaman/IMG_3937_zpsc817f368.jpg This is our ship (the Star) alongside its sister ship (Dawn) in Cozumel Mexico. http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb50/workingcinderellaman/IMG_4237_zps1c15b655.jpg Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya. http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb50/workingcinderellaman/IMG_4106_zpsebe83ca3.jpg Costa Maya Mexico. http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb50/workingcinderellaman/IMG_4146_zps87a91de0.jpg Roatan Honduras. This Island was really beautiful. This picture was taken from the ship. Notice how clear the water is. You can see the bottom of the sea here so anyone who's afraid of sharks can take comfort that you can see them coming. http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb50/workingcinderellaman/IMG_4170_zps26ab6e11.jpg This was taken from the store front looking back to the ship. http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb50/workingcinderellaman/trips/IMG_4180_zps4e8f2597.jpg1 point

Then he'd only have like 8 .... one for every second Mike would last with Sheldon's wife I don't know - 8 seconds or 8 minutes or 8 hours... I haven't seen his wife... (lights are always off) The 8 seconds is always the first thing that pops into my head.... I remember one of my first years coaching youth football... the head coach and I were friends before I started coaching and he was talking to the kids. He told them that the average football plays lasts 8 seconds. He said "I want 8 seconds of fury out of each of you" and I said to him "8 seconds of fury... same way your son was conceived" One of my buddies was telling us about his recent sexual encounter he had. He described it as "Three dips and a spritz". :LMAO: Oh Gawd, what have I just walked into..! :o :P Is it sticky? :outtahere: I hope not..! :o1 point

Shelley kind of embarrassed Geddy and Jim. I think she embarrassed Jim more. Thanks, GM!1 point

Here's Joe talking about his European touring amp rig from a few years ago. He goes through his pedal board again, which is considerably different from the video above.1 point

Here's a really cool video from a few years ago where Joe talks about his effects board. Having seen him in concert recently, I can tell you that a lot of these pedals have been discontinued in favor of other sounds. But its an awesome snapshot of what he was using at the time. Going back to the Royal Albert Hall once again, Bonamassa plays Woke Up Dreaming, a song which he originally wrote for the Blues Deluxe album. In concert he expands the song by about 7 minutes and turns it into a true acoustic tour-de-force. Woke Up Dreaming1 point

In 2009 Bonamassa released the album The Ballad of John Henry. Going back once again to the Royal Albert Hall concert, here's the title track. The Ballad of John Henry1 point

In 2006 Bonamassa recorded the album You and Me. It was the first album he worked with Kevin "Caveman" Shirley as producer. The album produced the track Asking Around For You, which became a must play for Bonamassa at his concerts. Asking Around For You1 point

Last year Bonamassa played the Royal Albert Hall, something which had been a goal of his since he was a child. This video features two songs. The first is a cadenza called India. This merges seamlessly into a staple of Bonamassa's live performances, the ballad Mountain Time. India/Mountain Time1 point

The United States Congress declared 2003 to be The Year of the Blues. To commemorate this, Joe Bonamassa's 3rd album, Blues Deluxe, would feature 12 blues songs, making it Bonamassa's first all blues album. The title track was an old Rod Stewart/Jeff Beck song from Jeff Beck's Truth album. This video is an amateur recording during Bonamassa's 2007 tour. The performance is simply breath taking, and should really just speak for itself.1 point

First up is a live version of Joe's cover of Jethro Tull's "A New Day Yesterday." This was the title track of Joe's first album in 2000. This video is from the Live At Rockpalast DVD recorded in 2005. There is also an almost identical version recorded in 2001 for the "A New Day Yesterday Live" Cd/DVD. A New Day Yesterday1 point
