They got a wall in China, it's a 1000 miles long. To keep out the foreigners they made strong Some of the most beautiful phrasing...this thread just makes me think of ALL stuff. There's a peacefulness/calmness about his music that draws me in every times I listen3 points

The gig was absolutely fantastic! After a slightly tentative start the band caught fire rapidly and the playing went stratospheric. I wish I was going to Glasgow tomorrow. Not for the non 70s Prog PT fans. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/reedlover/Iphone/20130301_211842_zpsd2e5d20c.jpg3 points

The first song I loved by Paul Simon was You Can Call Me Al. It was in the age of MTV, and that video caught my attention. Got me looking into more of his stuff, and I really love his music. The Boxer is one of my all time favorites. The images Kodachrome paints, and the heartfelt emotion of songs like Graceland, Slip Slidin and Diamonds OTSOHS keep me coming back.3 points

That's it for me. One of the first songs I can remember hearing on the AM radio in my parents' car and loving as a kid. Honorable mention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy5T6s25XK4 I remember hearing 50 Ways on the radio when I was a kid and it was still on the charts. There was always a radio on in the house. Even my parents liked that song, which I didn't realize was uncool that was until several years later when my parents became very uncool, which was several years before they became very cool again. It's tough growing up Tougher still to be a parent. For me, The Boy in the The Bubble started the flood that was Paul Simon's music in my life. Begin Graceland. Good call, Rick. My entry today is another great one from Rhymin' Simon - and inspired by TM's story with his boys. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiMIAoZNce82 points

Thanks for such a great song...I can tell that you really respond to this level of soul searching and truth...isn't it funny how Paul Simon does that to people? Is it that obvious- lol! Paul Simon does really resonates with me- he just seems able to express the personal and universal struggle in such a unique, sincere, modest, and honest fashion. he's always known how to do that...I'm inspired to listen to every S & G album this weekend. Their progress as a duo is interesting to observe.2 points

I think we've all benefitted from Franklin's wisdom. From Poor Richard's Almanac to the witty retort to a woman's question "A Republic, maam, if you can keep it", to the poignant "Those who desire security over liberty deserve neither", what a philosopher. All that and the discovery of electricity too. Wow...2 points

When I was in High School I had blonde, orange, blonde with some pink on the bottom...mistake, but I liked it and didn't care what anyone thought. Remember Henna? You could buy it and it was green and you mixed it and it turned your hair red. I'm a brunette, well more black and I have natural red in it. You can ony see it in the sun., So, I loved to dye my hair. I even did peoples hair and cut my cousins hair when they were young...I should have gone to beauty school. You can have fun whatever color you are.....2 points

Here's one on my mind for today...it's a reminder to tell those close to you that you love them and leave nothing unsaid (at least that's what the song does for me) —TM Paul Simon Slip Slidin' Away Lyrics Translation in progress. Please wait... http://www.lyricsfreak.com/i/loader.gif Songwriters: SIMON, PAUL Words & music by paul simon Slip slidin' away Slip slidin' away You know the nearer your destination The more you're slip slidin' away I know a man He came from my home town He wore his passion for his woman Like a thorny crown He said delores I live in fear My love for you's so overpowering I'm afraid that I will disappear Slip slidin' away Slip slidin' away You know the nearer your destination The more you're slip slidin' away I know a woman Became a wife These are the very words she uses To describe her life She said a good day Ain't got no rain She said a bad day's when I lie in bed And think of things that might have been Slip slidin' away Slip slidin' away You know the nearer your destination The more you're slip slidin' away And I know a fa-ther Who had a son He longed to tell him all the reasons For the things he'd done He came a long way Just to explain He kissed his boy as he lay sleeping Then he turned around and headed home again Slip slidin' away Slip slidin' away You know the nearer your destination The more you're slip slidin' away God only knows God makes his plan The information's unavailable To the mortal man We work our jobs Collect our pay Believe we're gliding down the highway When in fact we're slip slidin' away Slip slidin' away Slip slidin' away You know the nearer your destination The more you're slip slidin' away Slip slidin' away You know the nearer your destination The more you're slip slidin' away Mmm...2 points

You like, and they´re really good: Too long to list the qualifying bands. You like, but you know they´re not that good: A Flock of Seagulls You hate, but admit they´re really good: I don't hate them, I just don't "get it" - Dream Theater You hate, and they really suck: Bon Jovi2 points

The first that comes to mind for me is John lennon, I'll think of more.1 point

I don't know about its origin, though I had wondered who the other guy with him was. Having said that, I spent most of my time (well, all) gawping at Ged..! The other guy is Geddy's gay lover. Sheldon! :o Can I get a "LIKE"? :laughing guy: Got two! :D1 point

Hey my brother! As you might know I just went through a big Pink Floyd Phase. I listened to "Dark Side" like 5 nights in a row. I don't even listen to a Rush album like that! "Dark Side" never gets old. I love listening to different pressings because you can always find something that you have never heard before. It's obviously one of the greatest albums ever made in the universe. Cheers!1 point

Wont take to long- their songs are so short, especially compared to Rush, that they just get started and then they are over!1 point

I don't live in the USA. I'm in Canada. :) He wasn't talking about you. :laughing guy: :outtahere: I'm just saying... lots of really awesome people live here in Canada too... looks like he's living in Canada. Just was making sure he didn't decide to leave this perfect country just for chicks And if it was you he wanted to meet the most, and then he get's down here and is like, "DANG!" Yes... slight problem though. I have two daughters older than Ya Big Tree... so I guess I better stick closer to home!! I'm not that young guys ... :eyeroll:1 point

You're going to burn for this... Bring it on, dork boy... It isn't my wrath you will be facing. You mean this guy? http://pakpotpourri.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/3sv5aw.jpg Now I'm worried...he might try a Jedi Mind Meld on me... May The Holodeck Be With You.1 point

This is strange because the second leg of the a tour is usually about promoting the Live album created for the first leg. Rush has been doing it that way for years. So, where's the live album?1 point

I don't care what anybody says, there is no greater feeling in the world than holding a happy baby. I have to use extreme restraint when out in public and I come across a tiny baby. They are so dang fun to hold. Great pic!!1 point

Love this: Some folk's lives roll easy as a breeze Drifting through a summer night Heading for a sunny day But most folk's lives, oh they stumble Lord they fall Through no fault of their own Most folks never catch their stars And here I am Lord I'm knocking at your place of business I know I ain't got no business here But you said if I ever got so low I was busted You could be trusted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbagtXi4HBs1 point

I love Piper, but the nursery rhyme feel to some of the songs, while they're cute and clever, they grate after a while. No denying the sonic genius of Interstellar Overdrive & Astronomy Domine though. Dark Side is just a killing machine. Even after 40 years, it's lost one of it's potency. Mind you, I still think Money doesn't belong in it. But what do I know.1 point

I agree that the VH1 interview was a snooze fest. It seemed awkward. That blonde host was the kind who should be gushing over Justin Bieber, not an intelligent rock band. Personally, I don't want Rush to become mega stars. They are fine the way they are and still very successful.1 point

That was a decent enough interview. Geddy was great as always, gracious and at times hilarious. Kerr strayed off a few times but was overall alright. The lady was kind of annoying and I'm sure Geddy wasn't looking forward to talking about his kids, but the byproduct is it's nice to know both are doing real well. I'm not even sure I knew how many children Geddy had until now. Anyway, was far and above the Vh1 fawnfest interview. That one was a waste. It must feel so strange for the boys being treated like mega superstars.1 point
