  1. April come she will When streams are ripe and swelled with rain; May, she will stay, Resting in my arms again. June, she'll change her tune, In restless walks she'll prowl the night; July, she will fly And give no warning to her flight. August, die she must, The autumn winds blow chilly and cold; September I'll remember A love once new has now grown old.

  2. I'd love to hear a remix of this fantastic album! Hell, while they're at it I'd love to hear a 5.1 mix, too. Both Vapor Trails and Feedback sound like they were rejuvenated, as if they somehow tapped into that youthful energy and inspiration not heard since around the mid 1980s. It must have been the "blood, sweat and tears." I guess there really is something to be said for suffering for your art, because the vibe and inspiration on these albums is so incredibly heartfelt. It's downright shameful that VT has been neglected by the band for so long. Personal favs: Ceiling Unlimited, Peaceable Kingdom, Earthshine, Out Of The Cradle. But, really, there's not a clunker to be found on VT! REMIX it NOW, fellas!!! :)

  3. Simon and Garfunkel were great. The Boxer is so frakking good. They had a lot of good songs, IMHO. As for Paul Simon solo, Graceland is one of the best albums recorded by anyone, ever. She comes back to tell me she's gone. As if I didn't know that, As if I didn't know my own bed...

  4. Have to say that is a very unusual pair of song to choose as favorites! The first one says a LOT about the times they were in (and still even applies today). The second one is just ridiculously catchy and clever. Well, the first one the boy commits suicide. But then again as I think about it now I guess the boy in 2112 does too and I never held it against that song. The second one, well, S&G had a few songs about being a criminal and frankly S&G were not very convincing at being part of the hood or what ever :P see, i NEVER interpreted the first song being about suicide. he jumps, but then "he flew away" followed by the "oh my grace, I got no hiding place" repeated a few times. i always thought it was as if he was going to jump, but then something magical and unexplained happened. to me the song is about youth and trying a new way of doing things versus an old entrenched view and resisting change. him flying away i interpret as those unwilling to move forward having a very hard time when they realize the old way of doing things isn't working, that something they can't understand is going on, and that the times truly are changing. for the second song, i don't look at as them singing autobiographically or giving the appearance even of it being some part of their psyche, as obviously they're way too harmless to be that person. i look at as more of a short story, as them telling a character's story that they created from the character's perspective. in that respect, it's believable and clever.

  6. I adore Paul Simon. His talent is profound and I think he is one of the great American songwriters. I literally played Graceland non-stop for 6 months when it came out. I could not get over the sounds! Then, I discovered his catalog and became an enormous fan. Paul Simon Great thread, TM! :cheerleader: Here's my contribution. And some finger style playing, too. This song still makes me cry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0SN6Eck9eQ Okay, well, two, I have to put this one in. It is my favourite Paul Simon song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ksa4VjKE3RY

  7. Paul Simon has so many great songs, one for every mood it seems. He created such fantastic music with Art Garfunkel and on his own. What Paul Simon lyric is hitting you at the moment? She gets down on her knees and hugs me

  8. I don´t know where I saw this classification, but to me it´s a great way of avoiding conflicts because of your musical preferences. I´ll start with my opinion, and out of curiosity, can you name bands which: You like, and they´re really good: Rush, Dream Theater, Van Halen; You like, but you know they´re not that good: Ramones, U2; You hate, but admit they´re really good: Pink Floyd, The Beatles; You hate, and they really suck: Sex Pistols

  9. We've had a rainy night and a drizzly morning. It's tapered off mostly but outside it's still cold and grey. So one of my fellow workers comes back from lunch, and another project manager who sits in the bullpen behind mine asks, "Is it still raining?" Co-worker responds, "No, but the fog is getting thicker." Cue Mara, in a gleeful near-shout, "AND LEON'S GETTING LARGER!" I never, ever think quickly enough in these situations, but this time I timed it perfectly. I am so proud of my moment of quick-wittedness. Best part - almost everyone got it and cracked up; someone remarked, "looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue."

  17. Yeah, I noticed that! one and one-half wandering jews? I guess it loses something in the translation :rfl: It is cause Paul had married and devorced Carrie Fisher (Princess Leigh!) whose dad is Jewish but her mom is not.. so it explains a lot of complicated relations succinctly Those are the fascinating layers of his music that somehow capture our thoughts (and carry them away)...does anyone really know the meaning or inspiration for "love me like a rock"...I do but I'm testing the faithful here. I always took loves me like a rock lyrically at face value, so I am very curious now- right now I imagine all of you hitting Wikipedia lol! No wikki for S&G or Paul Simon for me, I have my pride! So I think Anthony Jackson played bass on that song. Apparently, I remember how to play it. And this is from memory for me, too (which I why I've edited my Hearts and Bones lyric as I remember new old things). And I'll just edit to add: oooo...now we're a hot topic.... in the pocket per usual cygnuschick all the days of my life. Thanks, TM http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-music017.gif

  22. In terms of S&G stuff, I love a LOT of songs (not to mention all of Sounds of Silence, Parsley Sage Rosemary & Thyme and Bookends  ), but these are probably my two favorite songs by them - not choices most people would probably make: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diNi6F4usCM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-IY1g2LARs

  23. She said.. why don't you love me for who I am, where I am.... I had tickets to see S&G in Houston, August 1983. The concert was cancelled, because of hurricane Alicia, then the news came out that Paul also took this as a break to run off to get married to Carrie Fisher.

  32. Lyrically it's outstanding. Musicianship is high by any standard, but considering their layoff and the reason for it, it's unheard of. The mixing isn't perfect, but so what? To redo would very likely make no economic sense. That's why it hasn't been done. They have many more positive—and profitable—things to do!

  41. That's what I used to think, but likeclockwork usually posts very reliable information, so I'm cautiously optimistic. There has been murmurings of an R40 among the crew, but that's about it so far. Even still, I would remain optimistic. Hell, Ged's voice is better than it's been in years and other than Neil, they ALL get antsy when they're off the road for too long. Bah, I seriously doubt that they'll "go out" without an official announcement.

  42. I know this means nothing..... I know its up to Geddy, Alex & Neil.... I know Geddy really sounds like the vocal issues are really making touring a pain.... but.... I just want to retell my story of speaking with Ray Danniels at the taping of the Time Machine DVD in Cleveland... I was telling him my thoughts of rush's future plans and said they really should a R40 tour in 2014.... His response, "Have you been reading my notes." I said it was a no brainer and every big time rush fan would come out to hear the classics and epics....He agreed with a wink and a smile and said he just had to convince the guys... So, ultimately it will be rush's decision, and who knows, maybe Geddy's voice is at such a point where the decision not to has already been made.... but, thinking in a hopeful vain.....if they played 20-25 shows fall of 2014, came back and did 20-25 shows spring of 2015, just north america....that would be the tour and then they would probably be off the road for two years while they work on the next album.... that's my hope, i will remain hopeful, until it doesn't happen....

  43. Just because we may want them to tour, doesn't mean they're obligated to. I'm fine with no R40, because I respect the fact that they have been on tour for a while and need an extended break. As for an instrumental tour, well it will still be just as hard on them. It's flat out simple, they need a break, for the greater good! Don't make me start flippin' tables now! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Lol

  44. In "A Few Good Men" terms, these are the facts and they are indisputable: 1. They're not retiring any time soon. 2. They love playing and they love working together. 3. They want a nice break after this tour ends. 4. They're old and they have limited time to keep doing this before they can't anymore 5. R40 is a great marketing opportunity Can't say whether that translates into a tour in late 2014 or something in 2015. They probably don't even know yet. My gut says an R40 tour with a few new songs like on Time Machine that either begins late 2014 or gets pushed off till Spring 2015. Either way we will see them again and it won't be multiple years before we do. They know they have a small window at this point in their career and lives.

  48. Another very real possibility is that they realize in retrospect that it's far from their best work, to say the least. It's very likely that they keep putting it off because even though they're fully cognizant of there being MAJOR sound problems, they also don't want to spend any time or money on an album that they know isn't up to their standards. Of course they would never admit that, just say that it was made during a tough period for the band, etc., which is also true... You're assuming a lot and taking your own opinions as fact as usual, but of course it's just part of your VT troll routine... :hi:
