I have been a fan since I was 14. I am 48 now. In my humble opinion, this is their most consistent, overall best effort since Power Windows. The only parts that stink are the new intro to BU2B, BU2B2, and the chorus of Geddy's during Wish Them Well. The song WTW is good, but the chorus of Geddy's is painful. If they just had removed those things, this would have been a perfect album. You can't say that about any other album they have done since Power Windows. Anyone who thinks this is a weak effort just is blatantly wrong and needs to just give up listening to music altogether.2 points

I don't want to call the Foo Fighters hacks, but to me they're considered great only because there are so few popular rock bands around these days. Compare them to the great classic rock bands of the 60's and 70's and they pale miserably by comparison. I used to say that U2 and REM were really popular in the 80's only because they didn't have a lot to compete with, and they also couldn't hold a candle to the great classic rock bands. The Foo Fighters are a step down from there. There's nothing necessarily really wrong with them, but they get a big MEH from me. Similarly, them inducting Rush is a really big MEH at best - a completely uninspiring choice. Should have been Jack Black all the way.2 points

What do you do when your employer allows the reinstatement of a corrupt punk co-worker, who was fired for gross misconduct and vandalism of company property? What do you do when this punk (who was a popular member of the union good-old boy club) made your life hell everyday for the past two years, via his intentional sabotage of your job.....in addition to blackballing you because you dared to stand up to his buddy, a drunken loser who was abusive to you everyday (and got himself fired for it)? What do you do when your employer tells you that this punk is being reinstated to his job after SEVEN MONTHS? What do you do when you are being forcibly demoted back to your old job, on the SAME SHIFT as this punk, destined to endure the same abuse and disrespect for who knows how long.....? Years, perhaps....? YOU QUIT. That is what you do. I don't care about the huge loss of revenue. I don't care about the uncertainty of my future. I don't care about having to move in with my mother until I can start all over again....which may be never. ANYTHING is better than going back to that horrible job with such impotent management and such horrible co-workers. Grain dust everywhere. Freezing cold. Working 6-7 days a week. Asshole union goonbahs. Cowardly and incompetent managers. http://www.lixlove.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/quitlol.gif1 point

According to the Ticket "Master", Rush has two gigs on Wed. May 1. You can purchase VIP packages for the 12:00 pm show at the Jake Gaither Gym in Tallahassee, FL, then Rush will shoot on over to Nashville, TN for a 7:30 show at the Bridgestone Arena. If the Gym still has the hoops up, maybe Pratt will be up for some one-on-one.1 point

Now it all becomes clear. My interest was piqued by reports of the new dates for North America so I checked the VIP packages for Manchester MEN in May. Now I know that many people, myself included had great difficulty in getting decent tix for some of the uk shows. Well, it looks like the ticketing arrangements in the UK have gone the same way as the USA dates, as it seems that the majority, if not all of the first 3 blocks on the floor A,B and C are reserved for VIP packages at the princely sum of £204 each. 3 f***ing BLOCKS?? Christ on a bike. No wonder I couldn't get decent seats on the floor. If this is the way that tickets for gigs are now being hawked then Live Nation and the bands they are promoting, including Rush can go and f**k themselves. I'm not prapared to be ass raped by anyone in that way and the only way that this outrageous practice will stop is if we, the fans hit these f*ckers in the wallet by refusing to buy tickets at these over inflated prices. Unlikely to happen I know, but what else can we do to stop this practice of genuine fans from being excluded from the front rows of gigs through so called VIP packages?? And you wonder why the audiences at shows seem half dead? As far as l know this is the first time that so many UK tickets have been priced this way-having got second row, dead centre last time around on the Time Machine Tour. Don't have a problem with a couple of rows in a couple of sections for packages but 3 f***ing blocks?? That is taking the piss, big time. Hope that there are loads of gaps in those first 3 blocks so that LN and the band get the message, but no doubt they will end up full of corporate twats who probably won't recognise anything else but Tom Sawyer or the Spirit of Radio. I'm gobsmacked as we say over here. And angry. Well, just a little bit!1 point

I cannot agree more. On paper, I think Jack Black would be most fun. You guys are missing the point. It's not what WE think of the foo fighters... The industry respects them and Grohl has some serious credibility with a lot of current bands... He was a member of arguably the most influential band of the last 20 years.. It speaks volumes for the greatness of Rush that he is willing to induct them .1 point

I'd rather see Jack Black. Not a fan of the Foo Fighters. Every song sounds the same. Start with some music, along with some whispering lyrics, which builds into a crescendo of shitty guitar and unitelligible words. No thanks.1 point

They have relevance in the current rock scene. It actually makes Rush look good. Some were suggesting Donna Halper, but who the hell knows who she is besides the Rush fan base? I have no problems with Grohl or Hawkins.1 point

I got mine through the regular sale, not VIP. A buddy of mine got 7th row on Geddy's side also. We have always had luck with musictoday. We each had third row in Philly last fall.1 point

:aliensmiley: :haz: :haz: :haz: :blaze: I´m going through it once again today and was just listening to Mechanical Mind - the beginning reminds me of Xanadu! I do hear bits of RUSH on there myself!1 point

I love 'Celebrity Touch', but suddenly it's the only lesser track on the album. I listened to it again late last night on my UEs and it took me on a 50 minute atmospheric journey. From 'We Got Used to Us' through to 'Coda' it is just sublime! 'Deprived' is a moody, melodic masterpiece. The sax is just the icing on the cake. 'Escalator Shrine', 'The Depth of Self Delusion', 'Feel Like Falling' - all amazing. I love the way 'Coda' reprises 'Feel Like Falling'. Their most complete, consistent and mature album so far, I think. It's wonderful - and I haven't even listened to the 'Night Session' tracks yet.1 point

It most certainly is!  :haz: :guitar: When I read that the band would channel the Dimension Hatross and Nothingface "sound" I was anxiously awaiting to hear the album, now that it's here I can't believe how fuuking good this album is! They definitely nailed the signature Voivod sound on this one and Piggy would be proud! :haz: Yeah it's a surprisingly convincing and authentic sounding slab of Voivod! Like nothing has changed! :givebeer: Aye! ;) It could be their best album since...well for YEARS and YEARS! :o :o :o :smoke: :haz: For me it's the best since The Outer Limits. I like the self titled release with Newsted, but Katorz and Infini were just ok. Target Earth is a great return to form. Aye and double aye! :dweez: <<<<< Targeting Earth >>>>1 point

There was an embarrassing period of five years when the best live Led Zeppelin album might actually have been Great White's Great Zeppelin (released 1998). Then we got How the West was Won in 2003 and the TSRTS Remaster in '07. Now with Celebration Day, it's almost an embarrassment of riches for great live Zeppelin albums.1 point

I've had a pretty interesting day in regards to getting tickets! I woke up at 5:30 am (half an hour before I normally get up) With a sudden instinct to check the rush.com website for new dates. Little did I know they actually posted them! It's like my body instinctively knew they were announced! I was trying to not scream with excitement because the rest of my family were still sleeping. Unfortunately, I had to go to school today! I was so upset I couldn't stay home to get tickets. So I'm on my way to school and I have to e-mail my dad at work (because he is still COMPLETELY unaware that the dates were announced, let alone the tickets going on pre-sale today!) about everything. I had already asked my dad a few times if I can see them again and he said no. (I saw them in New Hampshire (4th row center stage!) AND in Connecticut (10th row Ged's side!)) In the e-mail I included how this might be the last time we will ever see them, which I think did the trick. He emailed me back saying he would check it out at noon! The time came and I was sitting in biology class about to EXPLODE with excitement! luckily at 12:08, biology ended and I could go to lunch. he e-mailed me again saying he purchased two tickets in section 25 at Mohegan Sun! (You can google the map of the Mohegan Sun arena if you want to see exactly where it is) I almost cried because I wasn't expecting AT ALL to be that close!!! I am content with my seats and I cannot WAIT for May 9th!! The second my dad gets home from work, I am going to give him a GIGANTIC hug and thank him many many times!!! I love him SO much! (Did I mention he is also a big Rush fan? He's seen them at least once every tour since power windows! I wish I could have done that! :o) And although I am grateful to have tickets, there's still a sliver of me that wishes I had front row seats ;P (Will I ever get to see my heroes that close? Who knows!)1 point
