Once the tour starts, I (and I'm sure others) will not want to see video clips from the shows or setlists, or anything that could spoil what songs are being played. And looking back to the Snakes and Arrows tour-onward posts on this site, it looks like what ya'll would do is just mark a post with a spoiler warning if it mentions something about the show or a song being played. Are we still doing that this time? I'd like to be able to stay on TRF this summer (my show is in September) without any fear of seeing any spoilers.

2nd Encore - Is it Time?

In two of my other Song Prediction/ Set Posts I added a 2nd Encore. do you think it's time for RUSH to do a Second Encore? Say the finish the 1st Encore with Closer to the Heart (Extended Jam). Then the lights don't come up and they Return for 2112 Overture / TOS / Finale! I think the crowd would loose their collective minds. It would be EPIC! Can you Imagine the crowd after the Encore, wondering what's going on with the Lights? And then the opening sound of 2112 Overture comes on! I would loose my shit right There!

Fly by Night has not been played live since the Farewell to Kings Tour in 1978. I for one have never heard it played live! It's one of their earlier big hits! I don't understand why they dropped it from rotation? maybe its too high for Geddy to sing? Who knows? Regardless, I don't think there are many out there that wouldn't be glad to see this gem back in the set! What are your thoughts on this?

Is Anyone Upset About Ticket Prices?

I paid $338 each for three seats at the top of the third level all the way back and on a corner. I barely made myself do it but my family wants to come (only three would go to the show) and make it a family trip. The price makes me furious. They are the worst seats I have ever bought for any artist in a lifetime of 100+ concerts but about 10x more than what the other better seats were. This is madness. Alex and Geddy left Ray Daniels management and are now with Q Prime a huge agency that handles all the high profit bands. Seems like a consience decision to leverage a lifetime of goodwill and turn it into money. I'm devastated. I had heros a few days ago now i don't. One like to believe in the fredom of music but glittering prizes and endless compromises shattered their integrity.

Given the seemingly willy-nilly way in which shows have been announced for this upcoming tour (and the likelihood that many fans bought tickets for one or more of the originally-announced seven cities only to find out that new shows are coming that are closer or more desirable) ... should we set up a thread or threads to allow us to exchange or sell tickets to other Rush Forum members at face value?

I was able to secure face value tickets for Jun 30th in Fort Worth, and I would like to add at least one more Fort Worth show (if not all four of them), and I would just as soon be able to help out another fan who has tickets they don't need rather than wait for the secondary market to come to the realization that triple the price (or more) may not be a realistic goal for the ticket-flippers.

That having been said, if anyone has singles for Fort Worth on Jun 24. 26, and/or 28, hit me up.

If this is the wrong place for a thread like this, please advise and I will delete the thread and move to the right spot. Thanks!

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but I've just noticed that for the North American shows (on Ticketmaster and Viagogo) the centre of the stage has been made into a D shape with the front rows of seats curving round it.

Which of the hits and/or crowd pleasers is a "must play" for you at every show?

We've got threads on the go for lesser played (and never played) songs, but which of the hits and crowd pleasers is a non-negotiable for you?

For me, that song is Limelight. I know all the "hits" as it were have been retired at some point for portions of tours, if not entire tours, in the past, but I really missed it during the R40 Tour. I'm happy I caught one of the shows where it was rotated in back in 2013, but it always felt strange to look at a Rush setlist and not see it. I hope it appears at every show on this tour. Alex has certainly done his fair share with it during the last few years, so I expect my wish will be granted.

Further 2027 dates? Asia, North America round 2?

I expect sometime in the next few months we'll hear something either close to the beginning of the tour or shortly after the beginning of the tour about another run of shows in 2027. However I remember hearing something about Geddy and Alex mentioning that they were thinking about doing some shows in Asia, which could mean a return to Japan, and maybe a couple other countries. The more likely thing I think will happen though is that they'll announce a shorter North American leg again, going to more secondary places that they didn't get to this year, which I imagine would start in May/June 2027, and conclude sometime around September later that year. I think there will be more announced, because Rush usually ends their tours closer to home, or at least somewhere on this continent.

What do ya'll think?

"For Fifty Something, Lee and Lifeson will be accompanied by German drummer, composer, and producer Anika Nilles, who has performed as Jeff Beck’s drummer for over 60 shows and has released four solo albums. The band announces today, they will also be joined by keyboard player Loren Gold (The Who, Roger Daltrey)."

I just started getting serious about booking my concert night hotel in Chicago for July 22. My wife has lots of Hilton points, so I was hoping to stay at a Hampton about 6 blocks from United Center. I just checked prices and they jacked it up to $700 a night or an ungodly amount of points. For a f***ing Hampton on a Wednesday night! All the other hotels within a mile were jacked way up as well.

So onto plan B. Shopped around and found a Holiday Inn Express for $127 that's about 12 miles down the freeway. That'll do pig.

Didn't screw me this time Chicago! ha!

Night-to-night variation in the setlist

With Geddy and Alex having said that the shows will be shorter than in the past and that they'll be pulling from a pool of 35 songs, I'm curious how much night-to-night variation we think there will be.

35 songs is significantly more than they've played over the course of any single tour. I counted how many total songs were played on each tour since they started the longer "Evening With" format in 1996 (not counting drum solos and counting multiple parts of 2112 as one song, etc.), including switch-outs.

Test for Echo tour: 26 total songs played at some point on the tour

Vapor Trails tour: 31 total songs played at some point on the tour

R30 tour: 30 total songs played at some point on the tour (counting "R30 Overture" as one song)

Snakes & Arrows tour: 32 total songs played at some point on the tour

Time Machine tour: 24 total songs played at some point on the tour

Clockwork Angels tour: 31 total songs played at some point on the tour

R40 tour: 30 total songs played at some point on the tour

There could be a lot more variation on this tour than there typically is, if they're going to have 35 songs ready to go and probably play 18-20 a night if the show is going to be 2-ish hours.

So ever since the big announcement, I’ve been going back and watching various videos of concerts from the last few tours including the R40 tour. I have to say I’d forgotten how much juice Geddy had lost with his voice in spots. He was doing his best but he just couldn’t hit a lot of the notes - some songs worse than others.

Soooo…..here we are 10 years later with Geddy Lee at 72 years old about to embark on a major tour tasked with singing some of the most challenging rock songs ever written to sing.

How in the world is he going to pull this off???? Geddy has mentioned having a separate musician on stage possibly for keyboards, but I really hope they have someone for backup vocals. I don’t want him to be way way off

im so excited. I’ve got tickets in the 8th row for the first show in LA. I really love these guys and want so much for them to kill it up there. I’m just wondering about Geddys voice holding up for so many shows - anyone else?

Announcement on the Rushcon page - one is planned for August 8th in Toronto! I know that some here enjoy them, some don't but thought I would post the info.

Extra Musicians on Stage with Geddy and Alex

So the guys announced that they will have additional musicians on stage with them on this tour. What do you believe these musicians will be playing?

The obvious is a keyboardist. I'm feeling they will not use triggers on this tours and allow the keyboardist to cover that.

They've already had a guest violinist, so that's not much of a stretch.

I also believe they might bring along a Percussionist to cover the Tubular Bells and the Xylophone unless Anika can play them. Don't Know?

Other than that, Maybe a backup vocalist to cover backup Vocals? What do you guys think?
