AGAIN

I promise I'll complete it this time... and I'll make sure to post more in one day because doing it daily sucked...

..and no, I don't have the old list anymore

	Anyways...
I've really gone on a discography run with these guys again, especially with the reunion coming up. I also remembered how I tried making a list like this a few years ago, but I feel like giving out some respect in some well-condensed posts every so often. I have digested this list into tiers, as well as posting the progress of each album through the list, and posting the whole list's progress so far.

Some of these could definitely change later, but I feel very confident in how I placed most of these.

A couple of tracks I considered interludes into another song shortened the list into 171 and not 173. I included Feedback again, even though ooooo spoilers, it will get dumped again.

Soon, I will begin posting the first tier!

I always found that both of these live albums are almost like distant siblings to one another given that they both follow the premise of it being dedicated to live versions of popular tracks from the last few studio releases rather than a full concert.

Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, and Hold Your Fire

Presto, Roll the Bones, Counterparts, and Test for Echo

Vapor Trails, Feedback, Snakes & Arrows, and Clockwork Angels

I'm starting a mini-thing-a-thing where we can all have some fun ranking songs from different eras of Rush for their 50th Anniversary.
And yes, for this one, your list includes songs from just Rush, Fly By Night, Caress of Steel, and 2112 together.
Then if this turns out great, I'll do one with A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures next. Then it's Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, and Hold Your Fire... and so on

You can do a Top 10, Top 20, Top 30, or hell just rank them all.

I'll come back with mine in a while and hopefully this thread gets going

Any album or video release that is a step above just the regular run of the mill stuff.

That means stuff like Vapor Trails Remixed is outside the discussion - no extra stuff on that as far as I can find.

How does Rush compare to other bands when it comes to giving us the special stuff??

Well, here it is. My ranking of RUSH's full 165-song studio catalog. In preparation I re-visited every album, at least in part, rating each song it contained and giving a longer listen to the songs I traditionally have liked the least in order to give them a fair shake. Some songs climbed the ranking as a result.

I also spent a fair amount of time watching YouTube vids like this of groups of RUSH fans ranking their favorite and least-liked albums. I found those discussions interesting, and a common theme seemed to be that one's rankings of albums and the songs within them often depends on when and how a person became a fan. In that spirit, I'll share my love-of-RUSH history as my list unfolds.

I'll gladly start with a song I absolutely hated upon hearing its first note.

How the band I had grown to love could put out something this dismal baffled me. The keyboard playing was absolute shit. The lyrics were trite. The guitar work was banal. And it was so stupidly short I couldn't imagine why it was even included on the album - an album with such a great title, such amazing artwork. Re-visiting it for the ranking process has confirmed one thing: This song is a crime against prog-rock humanity.

I thought I would do this. When the usernames "LaughedAtByTime", and "Mosher" were posting theirs, and with "Hi_Water" that has been ongoing, I didn't want to start it at the same time, and during "LaughedAtByTime", and "Mosher", and right now, don't know about "Hi_Water" getting to finish, and complete posting his. I know the "Administrator" has started, and finished figuring out how many, and the positions, where he wanted Rush songs on his own list, and going to post his. I didn't include studio unreleased, non-album singles, live, cover, and semi-official/RoIO releases, and songs. Instead of other people, and individuals saying a lot of different comments, I would like to see more of them try starting to do, and post their own finished, and completed Rush song's list, too. I'm expecting different, and a variety of comments. At one time, mine could be a couple, or a few songs, but will depend, and vary. It will be the song, song # on the c.d., and album, my entry # on the c.d., and album, and the title of the c.d., and album. Since I wasn't going to include Rush's cover's c.d., and album "Feedback" in the list, I did a separate my entry list of it. From somewhere, the list has to start, so mine is at number 165. Here is the start of it.

	"Feedback"

	the Seeker, song #4

	Shapes of Things, song #7

Heart Full of Soul, song #2

	Mr. Soul, song #5

For What It's Worth, song #3

Seven and Seven Is, song #6

	Summertime Blues, song #1

	Crossroads, song #8

Tai Shan, song #9/10, "Hold Your Fire (1987)"

Neurotica, song #9/10, "Roll the Bones (1991)"

	164. Tai Shan, song #9/10 - my entry #10/10, "Hold Your Fire (1987)"

	165. Neurotica, song #9/10 - my entry #10/10, "Roll the Bones (1991)"

Whassup? I know it has been quite awhile since I have posted an actual thread on here - life isn't always fun, so I haven't overloaded the forum with polls for that :)

However, I thought it would be fun if I shared my personal ranking of all Rush studio tracks from least favorite to personal favorite. Even with brief descriptions (and possibly ratings?), I won't post daily or too much at a time like I did before - I'll try spacing each ranking out so it keeps people interested.
And, of course, even though I was away from the forum - what's stopping me from revisiting Rush?
As I have revisited each album on repeat, including Feedback - I have found there to be no bad Rush songs - bland, mediocre Rush, sure, but no bad Rush. I really do enjoy most of what these guys put out.
#173 will be posted... at some point ;)

hi_water's compelling thread has motivated me to reveal in this thread my own rankings I did a couple of years ago when I went through the whole catalog and ranked the songs. I did ask him to see if it would be OK to run this list concurrent with his, and he graciously agreed.

I will reveal five songs at a time, hopefully every day, without any real commentary. In large part this is due to not wanting to devote any more time to relistening to some of the more mundane or turgid parts of the catalog. Hopefully, people will enjoy this list, and I'm sure some will be very critical of it, but it's intended to be a fun exercise and of interest in comparing various reactions to Rush. As such though, hi_water's list, with his reviews, should be the more interesting of our two threads.

Because it's important to know, my first Rush album was 2112, although I bought it after Kings came out, in late 1977. The first album I bought concurrent with its' release was Hemispheres.

Unlike hi_water, I am not including Feedback in these rankings.

So here's my take on the worst five songs in the Rush catalog. The worst will be no surprise to anyone who's read my post. While many rankings will change over time, I'm pretty confident that #165 won't change.

	#165 Half the World (T4E, 11th best of 11)

	#164 Good News First (S&A, 13th of 13)

#163 The Speed of Love (CP, 11th of 11)

	#162 Tai Shan (HYF, 10th of 10)

	#161 Bravest Face (S&A, 12th of 13)

	Hello everybody!

We all know that without Neil there will never be Rush again.

But we know that Geddy and Alex could write songs... so Rush 2.0 can play them and write with the two old guys!

Brian May and Roger Taylor with Adam Lambert wrote a number of songs that can't be published as Queen, but as Queen 2.0 with young guys performing them?

Same way, Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley has surely a number of songs without a Kiss album since 2012: Kiss 2.0 could play them live with old Kiss songs?

And so on and on... Floyd, Zeppelin...

Many $$$ around, a web worldwide selection to have the best new version of these bands...

Making supertours with 70 yo millionaires onstage (Geddy and Alex being the first to enjoy it) beside young stars for the encores...
Three years from now, the old bands will be memories... or will be 2.0
