Neil's New DVD

Checked the Guitar Center website, and was surprised to find a north Houston store was listed as having Taking Center Stage AVAILABLE!!!

Hahahahahaha!

Funny thing, when I got there, they didn't even know they had it. It had just arrived, and was sitting on somebody's desk in back. I had to show them that their own website showed they had it, and wait for them to find it.

Packaging is nice, and a sticker claims 35 minutes of bonus footage for GC customers.

Now to watch it!

i'm guessing Neil and his people gave GC permission to sell early. the dvd also includes special 30 extra minutes of footage, a GC special.

wow, lack of posts here. is no one interested in getting this?

there is a paper inside the dvd which gives you a code to enter on the website takingcenterstage.net. that's where the bonus is.

thanks!

follow up: is that 'it'?

is it merely a link to that page, or are you given a code that unlocks more?

if it's just a link, that packaging/sticker is pretty disingenuous

haven't done it yet, but the paper says...

"download 35 minutes of additional performance & interview footage, available only to guitar center customers!"

it says to go to the website, enter the unique access code, download and watch.

thanks for that - let us know 'what' happens!

I'm very impressed so far. The discussions held at Death Valley are beautifully filmed. The drums only concert is amazing to watch. It's strange to see a Rush concert without seeing Alex & Geddy! And, I find it interesting how many lighting and other technical distractions Neil has to deal with. Lots of 'smoke' drifts through his set at various times. Really enjoying it, but it's a lot to digest.

I went to the Guitar Center here in Nashvegas and they had just finished setting up the display. It was playing on the the monitor behind the cash register. I just got home, but I don't think I can really devote a lot of time to it until the weekend. I'm going to download the extra material in a few minutes. I am pumped. Now if only they would release the Time Machine show early.

There is no way to just watch a straight performance here. Each song is introduced and parts of the song are explained and demonstrated and then there is a live performance. Another important thing to remember is that the drums are very up front in the mix. The guitar, bass and vocals are quite low in some cases. You can see Alex and Geddy a bit, but the cameras are on Neil. If you just want to see the concert with the whole band I would recommend waiting for the Time Machine DVD. If you liked Neil's other DVDs then this is more more more and it sounds awesome.

Neil is interviewed and discusses all this against the gorgeous back drop of Death Valley and in the studio. The Snakes & Arrows songs are also drum cameras only. IT LOOKS GREAT. I can't wait to watch the whole thing.

This looks amazing. I'm not a drummer, and don't own any of his other DVDs, but I just might purchase this.

I'm not a drummer either and I really want this though I'm not sure if I want to spend the money.
