It defenitely is for sure! I never imagined that Rush had this many female fans. I had a girl one time look at me like I was wierd for listening to Rush. I left a local bar with her and I happened to have Exit Stage Left in the CD player and she lokked at me an was like," What the hell are you listening to?" I explained that it was Rush and she was like OOOOOKAAAAYYYYY. Just thought I'd share that with you all.

It's kind of weird, but I know more female Rush fans than males. When I was in college, everyone in our circle of friends were Rush fans, but the women were more ardent fans than the guys. It was the women who turned me into a Rush FANATIC (rather than just a fan), and also introduced me to Dream Theater.

This summer, I had just gotten my single ticket to the Mansfield, MA show, and ran into my neighbor. He's always struck me as someone who would be a big Rush fan (not to mention that he has many similarities to Neil!). He hadn't realized I was a Rush fan, and told me that his new wife (first wife died of lung cancer) was a HUGE Rush fan.

I couldn't take her to the MA show, but we went to the Hartford show together, and then we drove up to TO for a long weekend to see that show. It made such a difference going to the shows with another female who appreciates the boys as much as I do!

Gotta admit, I dont think I've only met 1 female that was a Rush fan outside of this thread. Of course, I had to help her out a bit by burning her a bootleg of the only Rush show she was at and another one with her favorite song on it.

heh I don't think I have ever met a guy who even knows who Rush is!!!

If I should find myself "dateless" for the NEXT tour ( wink.gif ), I will definitely get in touch with you and RoR.

Heck - we should get together anyway - even better if I can get my neighbor to go with us!

Rush Women - Unite!!

Woo-hoo!! Totally....we usually go with a big crowd of peeps (my brother, his wife, my old drummer - who was the drummer in a Rush tribute band called Moving Pictures - my brothers drummer, gak, I could be here for like 10 minutes naming everyone), anyhow, we usually get a couple seats together, but most of them are spread out, we hang and sometimes jam before the show and after, meet up during intermissions that kinda thing. It would be wicked kewl to meet up with you there too!! biggrin.gif trink38.gif

If I were in a bar and you played some Rush ( say on the Juke ) I would have, at the very least toasted you with a tip-o-the-glass or if you were solo at the bar, I'd have bought you a beer and started a convo....about Rush of course.

Alas it has not been my experience for this to happen - at least here at the bars I go to....but quite possibly someday..... trink39.gif

I know many more female Rush fans IRL than I do male, though I have to admit I have a lot of women musician friends. The random people that I've run into that have noticed a t-shirt I'm wearing or a keychain I have or my license plate seem to be about 50/50.

Btw, what's wrong with the word "women?" I've never liked the word "chicks." I see men using it all the time but it's always struck me as being a derogatory word.

I have no problem with the term "chicks". To me, women are old, stuffy people while chicks are cool, younger people. But of course, like any word, it's all about the intention.

Most of the Rush fans I know IRL are male, although I'm a bigger fan than most of them :D

I've never called any woman a chick in my every day life. But I've probably said the word on HERE with the intention similar to what you said, i.e. "cool woman." Someone might've been offended regardless of my intention.

I wonder if any guys get offended when I refer to them as "cats"...."This one cat walked in the bar looking like Arthur Fonzarelli".

I know DO dislike when some say that bitter, old bullshit, "ALL men are dogs."
