treeduck
1. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath2. Paranoid3. Sabotage4. Vol. 45. Black Sabbath6. Master of Reality7. Technical Ecstasy (beats NSD thanks to the brilliant "You Won't Change Me")8. Never Say Die! If the title of the thread had been changed ever so slightly, my 1. and 2. would have been Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules respectively I'm a big fan of You Won't Change Me, it kind of sounds like something that would fit in on Diary of a Madman. That whole album is full of good tracks even though I've ranked it 8th in my list it's pretty much a classic.

ozzy85
Ironically the Dio Sabbath blows all of these albums away. Dunno. It's kinda like a completely different band. See Van Hagar for comparison.
ozzy85
Ozzy's solo albums blow all of these away. Randy, Jake and Zakk blow Iommi away and I know you love him. "That's Life" Signed, Old Blue Eyes nite They did bring metal into the "modern age". Rhoads and Wylde are more technical and Iommi is better at blues based. One is not better than the other. It's just a generation break.

alpha p
Tough one, but I'll go with Sabbath Bloody SabbathVol 4DebutParanoidMaster of RealityNever Say DieTechnical Ecstasy13 My album buying was a bit odd back then, with the first "Sabbath" album i heard being Talk Of The Devil, and the first Sabbath album I bought was Heaven and Hell, and always have a preference for the Dio era, but as has been said, different band really Just as an aside, I read yesterday that Rainbow's Difficult To Cure cover design had originally been offered to Sabbath for Never Say Die, but was rejected.Interesting trivia if true.Of course, apologies if everyone reading this is sort of "doh, did you not know that ?........ Malignant Narcissist
Shameful, I've only got Vol 4, Paranoid and Sabotage although I did listen to Technical Ecstasy from the local library on tape many years ago.I know that Masters, SBS and the debut are worth acquiring so I must rectify that.Have heard all the big songs on live albums though. I love Vol 4 and Paranoid with Sabotage being pretty good as well (another old tape - will Spoty fly it again...). So tentatively: Joint 1st :-Vol 4Paranoid2ndSabotageHeard they're good so all at 3:-SBSMasters of RealityDebut4Technical Ecstasy Not heard at all:-Never Say Die13 Edited September 9, 2021 by Malignant Narcissist

driventotheedge
Just out of curiosity, not just applying for TRF, but why does Technical Ecstasy get shat on?To me it's a good album. My guess is the 6 before it were so incredible that it pales a bit in comparison. Had it been some other bands debut I think it would've gone over better. Rick N. Backer
Just out of curiosity, not just applying for TRF, but why does Technical Ecstasy get shat on? It’s by far the weakest of the original 8. It’s as close to generic as Ozzy-era could get. It’s Alright is excellent though.
_hi_water._
I've been going on a Sabbath voyage lately. Here's my list right now: 1. Sabotage ("Megalomania", "Am I Going Insane", "Symptom Of The Universe" - some of my favorite Sabbath tracks right now) 2. Vol. 4 ("Tomorrow's Dream" and "Cornucopia" are some of the heaviest songs they have written IMO) 3. Paranoid (B-Side is better though) 4. Master Of Reality (I'd argue that "Solitude" is better than "Planet Caravan") 5. Black Sabbath (one of the best debuts) 6. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (don't come back to this one as much as the other earlier albums, but still a 10/10) 7. Technical Ecstasy (worth listening to "You Won't Change Me" and "Dirty Women" alone) 8. 13 (excellent way to departure as a group) 9. Never Say Die! (listened to this one the least, but side A is pretty kickass)
