back on again! Who's going?

Certainly not me......

Yeah, I dunno. I've seen all the docs over the last few years in theaters, and they were always an awesome experience. But with rising cases and this being an indoor thing...

it's nothing to do with Covid...I won't go because I think it'll be shite......

What would an adherent to the Shia branch of Islam have to do with "Cinema Strangiato - Director's Cut 2021"?

Oh. Sorry. Misread that.

Wow it just dawned on me that this is going to be shown on the same night the NFL season opens with Tampa Bay hosting Dallas.

.

.

.

Oh well, it's not like I'm gonna miss much outside of the enjoyment of watching the cowpukes get drilled. I will catch the first half so game should be over by then.

Such in inveterate curmudgeon. LOL All the RUSH Docs are awesome, you should at least get the DVD. You can always return it like a thrifty Scott. :moon:

I hear you. I don't want to get it either, I don't mean to sound cavalier about it, and I know I can still get it even being vaxxed. But tickets are refundable pretty much till the last day, I think, so I'll see how it goes between now and then. But we've got a bunch of theaters here in NJ to choose from, and it's in a pretty big one, so if I do go, we'll have plenty of space.

But in "normal" times, it must've been fun in a sold out theater! I think Time Stand Still was pretty full when I saw that, which made it so much better.

I am going with my sister and her son in law to be...we'll be masked. We all are vaxxed so will see how many are there so we can social distance. Looking forward to seeing this on the big screen. :D :ebert:

You think the Cowboys will be beating them that badly by half time?

I got my tix and like others will be double masked though vaxxed. And to those that are worried about the NFL conflict, remember the old joke that going to a movie no longer means missing a phone call. Got my seat on an end and may do what I mock others for doing-grabbing a glance at the phone during the film.

Of course, the question, which has been the subject of many a thread here, is the one about fashion. The old "no need to wear the t-shirt of the band you're seeing to lend support because just going to the concert/film is support" discussion. So, is R40 apparel an appropriate choice to the theatre-Yay or Nay??

Wearing my R40 shirt. Don't care what anyone else thinks, or wears for that matter.

Of course you should wear R40 stuff if you have it. I am actually wearing the 2020 t-shirt that says Flatten the Curve on the back and Rush on the front. I gave my sister the Arf 40 t-shirt and an R-40 ( from ebay) so she has her pick. It was fun last time when we went to dinner before the movie and half the restaurant had Rush t-shirts on! :D Looking forward to it.

A friend of mine is really trying to talk me into going to this. I've been resisting explaining that I have 85 percent of this already and that's without the Covid considerations. I guess there's a few days left to make up my mind.

Just got back from watching it here in Austin. If you aren’t feeling like going, you really aren’t missing out on much. I’m not going to spoil anything but if you have the R40 DVD you have most of what’s there already.

Just saw it here in the Chicago area. All I'm going to say is that I thought it was an absolute blast. Best part is that I saw it with my best friend from High School who introduced me to Rush 41 years ago.

Also going with him to see Primus perform Kings in a couple weeks. I know nothing about Primus, though apparently I have seen them since they opened for Rush during the Bones tour and I did see that tour. Looking forward to the show.

Just got back from my sister's after watching the movie with her and son-in-law to be. We loved it! Just like being at a concert hall and hearing them play. True it was R40 revisited but with a few extra bits and it was a fun evening. Makes you appreciate all the times you got to see them, what a treat and it is just what I needed.

Definitely agree. I was sort of bummed that the theatre I saw it in had a tiny screen and mediocre sound(I guess Marvel gets all the good theaters these days). Still, it was so easy to get absorbed into it just like a live show. So pleasant to watch but when it was done, sort of a downer that this more or less finally closes out what has been like a 47 year summer.

My son and I enjoyed it immensely. We saw it is a very good theater with a massive screen and fantastic sound system. All the keyboard flourishes were in surround sound so it was really on point.

A great time. Yeah we have everything on Blue Ray and DVD (Please remaster Rush Replay to blue ray!!!) but we enjoyed the Big Screen Experience. The Directors Cut though as very cool. Seeing Neil from behind the kit a lot was awesome. Some cool extra interviews etc.

What I would love if they are going to make this an annual thing (or so it seems they are) is going back and revisiting the older shows etc. That would be really cool. Like....make it a gathering of Rush fans to see A Show Of Hands or Grace Under Pressure for example. Remaster the stuff....make it an event for us to gather and enjoy Rush together in large groups.

That is what this is all about.

I saw it here in Orlando with a Rush buddy; it was fun!

I have to ask though - you mention "fantastic sound system" - were you able to hear the drums? lol. I do recall not being happy with the drum mix on the R40 blu-ray (I hardly ever watch it; probably not in 3-4 years) but in our theater yesterday, the sound was an abomination! It literally sounded like the drums were in the theater next door! The kick had no definition at all. The opening flourish of The Spirit of Radio and the drums were like a weak echo from a car driving by... that, and the cymbals were basically not in the mix at all.... We could see Neil's arms moving, and cymbals flopping away, but no sound! I believe the theater might have had the mids and/or front center speakers cranked - whenever Alex was not playing, you could hear this (quiet) drumming, but the minute Alex's part came in, it would rip your head off and the drums were basically completely obscured. It was fun to catch up with an old friend and the interludes, etc. but I was pretty disappointed in the sound.
