EXIT...STAGE LEFT

In relation to the 40th Anniversary of Moving Pictures, I'm very much hoping for a big, deluxe edition to the concert tour that became EXIT...STAGE LEFT.

I know there's a Moving Pictures post regarding this, but 'EXIT' was really my entrance into RUSH; both the album & ESPECIALLY the video.

I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video concert since first seeing the MTV Saturday night concert in December of 1982.

I've said this before, just hoping for the lost footage to be found; for a complete video concert.

Certainly in agreement with you that it would be so amazing if we got the whole thing as video. I know there was discussions on this previously. Even if the footage is there, the tapes may be unusable from age/deterioration by now.

I haven't bought any of the 40th anniversary re-releases, but I would certainly get this one if we did get the whole ESL video

I believe it has been said that they do not have that footage.

I would be more curious as to whether or not we would get a complete concert using songs that were not on the original release.

I recently watched the full Queen show also filmed at Montreal Forum in 1981.

Just made me more annoyed that the phenomenal Rush setlist above was hacked to pieces for the ESL VHS :(

I played the crap outta this tape in high school driving around town.

I played the crap of this tape, and then the tape broke (after playing it at least 200x).

So I bought another tape, and played the crap out of IT. Then IT broke.

By then, CDs were a thing. So I just bought that.

And it never broke.

Oh dear goodness is that what the whole setlist from an ESL show looked like? It's majestic.

That is the Moving Pictures tour setlist which is what we would get if the Montreal Forum footage to which the ESL video came from. Keep in mind the ESL album was a mix of recordings from PeW tour (notice Jacob's Ladder is not on the MP setlist) and the MP tour.

The Exit Stage Left tour setlist later in 1981 was almost identical. Natural Science was dropped and replaced with Subdivisions.

I hope it happens but I'm very skeptical. Considering that the 40th Anniversary already passed for Moving Pictures and they didn't announce or release any box set for the anniversary. So I don't know that it will happen. But optimism is key so we'll see. We also are lacking any decent quality recordings from that tour. Really the only soundboard recordings that do exist were featured on ESL.
