Saint NIck
In relation to the 40th Anniversary of Moving Pictures, I'm very much hoping for a big, deluxe edition to the concert tour that became EXIT...STAGE LEFT.I know there's a Moving Pictures post regarding this, but 'EXIT' was really my entrance into RUSH; both the album & ESPECIALLY the video.I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video concert since first seeing the MTV Saturday night concert in December of 1982.I've said this before, just hoping for the lost footage to be found; for a complete video concert.

Certainly in agreement with you that it would be so amazing if we got the whole thing as video. I know there was discussions on this previously. Even if the footage is there, the tapes may be unusable from age/deterioration by now.I haven't bought any of the 40th anniversary re-releases, but I would certainly get this one if we did get the whole ESL video2112 Part I: Overture 2112 Part II: The Temples of Syrinx Freewill Limelight Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres Part I: Prelude Beneath, Between & Behind The Camera Eye YYZ Drum Solo Broon's Bane The Trees Xanadu The Spirit of Radio Red Barchetta Closer to the Heart Tom Sawyer Vital Signs Natural Science Working Man Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres Part IV: Armageddon By-Tor & The Snow Dog In the End In the Mood 2112 Part VII: Grand Finale La Villa Strangiato
treeduck
I remember picking that up when it was first released, it was around Halloween time 1981. I took it home on the bus, I was staring at it pretty much all the way there.
chemistry1973
I had a drive from San Diego after a gig and cued up ESL. Goddamn is it good. Red Barchetta is just the ultimate live Rush song. And then Jacob’s Ladder through Xanadu. Holy shit is that heaven on a late night drive…
Laurabw
I played the crap outta this tape in high school driving around town.
78jazz
Certainly in agreement with you that it would be so amazing if we got the whole thing as video. I believe it has been said that they do not have that footage. I would be more curious as to whether or not we would get a complete concert using songs that were not on the original release. Lurkst
I recently watched the full Queen show also filmed at Montreal Forum in 1981. Just made me more annoyed that the phenomenal Rush setlist above was hacked to pieces for the ESL VHS :( Edited August 17, 2021 by Lurkst
Rush Cocky
I played the crap outta this tape in high school driving around town. I played the crap of this tape, and then the tape broke (after playing it at least 200x). So I bought another tape, and played the crap out of IT. Then IT broke. By then, CDs were a thing. So I just bought that. And it never broke.

It's majestic.

Keep in mind the ESL album was a mix of recordings from PeW tour (notice Jacob's Ladder is not on the MP setlist) and the MP tour.

Natural Science was dropped and replaced with Subdivisions. Edited August 20, 2021 by Lurkst

TheGhostRider
I hope it happens but I'm very skeptical. Considering that the 40th Anniversary already passed for Moving Pictures and they didn't announce or release any box set for the anniversary. So I don't know that it will happen. But optimism is key so we'll see. We also are lacking any decent quality recordings from that tour. Really the only soundboard recordings that do exist were featured on ESL.
