Messi leaving Barca? The club says so but I won’t believe it until it actually happens

https://www.bbc.co.u...otball/58100791

I thought they just signed some new deal, restructuring his money, etc?

His new deal was only able to be signed if they were able to shift players from the books first. As his contract ended, he has been out of contract for a while and it`s looked like trouble the more it`s gone on. La Liga rules are pretty reasonable; Barca and Real are in so much debt (hence Barca making free transfer signings and their wishes to create the ESL which they have not formally withdrawn from, along with Juve).

Messi would probably cost about £50m in a signing on fee, plus about £500,000 (which was roughly the value of his new contract at Barca) down from £1.2m a week. But who would suddenly be able to incorporate this into their season plans? Never mind where he would play at the clubs who could afford him (City, PSG are pretty loaded at the top end, and possibly Man Utd where he would be the antithesis of the younger hungrier players they`ve been signing).

That`s the Scottish League done and dusted

Hold the phone, Mabel! :o

They should've postponed the game after a tiring trip to the Czech Republic. Ekstraklasa agreed to postpone Legia's match today so that the Evil Empire can rest up before the return leg against the Croats.

British football, being the bloated egomaniac it is, always puts first what it considers domestic competition integrity. The attitude is almost like "well, they shouldn`t have gone over to Europe in the first place!"

Of course I meant Sweden, not Czech Republic. That's what I get for Celtic not playing in stripes.

You have so many empires that reach the level of "evil" :madra: I didn`t know where the side Celtic played where from, I just heard that to call their defending "schoolboyish" would be an insult to a well-marshalled U-11s.

I stopped paying attention once Hamilton Academical went down.

We all remember where we were :rose:

£97.5m for Lukaku, that seems a lot to me. He certainly scores his share and I guess Chelsea hope he`s turned into Drogba over the last few years. But however you view the transfer, it`ll still work out at £97.5m for each good first touch :16ton:

If you can't get Haaland or Lewandowski...but he had 64 goals in 95 matches for Inter, who needed the money desperately.

I wonder how European giants like Inter, or the top Spanish sides, can catch up with the Premier League. Barca`s TV revenue this season is less than the value of last season`s championship play-off game won by Brentford. That seems a little... :eh:

I`m hearing rumourlettes that Spurs are lifting their skirts in the direction of Inter`s Lautaro Martinez, for £60m. I like this idea. The usefulness of Fiorentina`s Vlahovic also seems to have been picked up by a few radars.

If I went to Florence with £50m I`d be straight to the Uffizi, but I guess adorning the living room with Titian`s or Caravaggio`s is second to strengthening a Kane-free attack.

I don`t have time to worry about details like "threads", "seasons" and "years", there`s Cricket to be watched and Wasps to be strung by :sigh:

Starting the 21-22 season by watching the La Liga match Valencia - Getafe. Still more than a week to Serie A start.

This season I only have to pay for one pay tv to see all ( ) the Serie A games and CL matches. La Liga and Primeira Liga as well, if I have time and interest.

I probably will not have time and interest for the latter two, since from this season on I play an instrument I love. To see all the Atalanta games (work schedules permitting) and some other matches is my goal for 21-22.
