Dude, I somehow knew you were gonna say that. But I'll give you a pass because of that Aspen Super Coupe in your sig. This time.

Sabotage is on my short list of top all time albums. They successfully pulled off an almost prog album while retaining their nuclear level heavy riffs.

Hmmm, your knowledge of and admiration for the Super Coupe clearly indicates you're a man of exceptional taste.

I should have been more measured in my criticism. Your username tells me you're fan. One of my dearest friends, Jimmy Blanke is a fan. He doesn't know of my dissing Ozzy.

Your description of Sabotage intrigues me. I will in the next coming days give the album a re-listen with an open mind. "Almost prog" with nuclear level heavy riffs might be just the kind of thing to remind me I'm alive.

If you don't realize you're alive after listening to Hole in the Sky, you're probably not.

Keith Emerson is on the previous album, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. That's got some mid-70s prog vibe as well. I personally doubt your synth-era loving ears are going to be able to process this stuff, but I admire your trying.

I don't know that Hole in the Sky put a thrill up my leg. I did catch myself toe-tapping with ever so slight head-banging to Symptom of the Universe.

Next track soon.

So I am at the end listening to The Writ. Two thoughts, I think the album warrants another listen soon and for example on The Writ the vocal qualities that seem to bug me from Osbourne aren't as pronounced or there.

I was teasing you a bit about the Ozzy thing. I know he's kind of one of those like him or totally not like him kinda deals. But, yeah... Sabotage is not so pure in its heaviness like earlier albums, but it is a cohesive album. Pretty good considering what the band was going through at the time. Bad management, drug problem becoming apparent, etc. Ozzy actually sounds pissed off here. I probably listened to this album every day in my 20's. It became my gold standard for albums.

Among all the cars I've had (and several Mopars) I had an Aspen for a little while. It was a Premier with T-tops and leather seats. 318 and Magnum 500 wheels. Too bad it was pretty beat when I got it. Only paid $100.

While listening I did some light reading on that era of the band and the recording of the album. People love the album cover!

Oh man, this is the sweetness. I'd pay good money for this.

My fave Black Sabbath record my guess is the live material is from the New Jersey show, can anyone confirm? I haven't bitten on any of these deluxe Sabbath set, not enough unreleased material and somehow I just don't want to run the risk that Sharon gets a nickel from me, so I'll just say I don't see Blow On A Jug listed. No Jug - No Sale!

Nosing around on the interwebs I see that the Sabotage SDE seems to have disappointed many fans. The studio album does not seem to be an improvement over what was previously available and the live material apparently is mp3 sourced!!

Reading the Steve Hoffman forum, I'm glad I didn't bite on any of these Sabbath Anniversary editions
