(I hope I didn't "kill" this thread, it's a good one. I am not using sarcasm above, and I saw an instant relationship between the two songs, I just wanted to be funny about beer vs. weed, is all. Probably failed)

@Flavia2112

The trivia contest - was it a matter of another player being so familiar with different albums but they mixed up something in their mind about themes or other factoids? I am thinking of a scenario whereby too much love of a band or its history could cause a sort of short-circuit in the memory banks. After all, they are two completely different albums! Different members of the group, even; although, it came upon Neil's shoulders to tour the first album that he didn't write.

Interesting to know if you recall the trivia question.

Let me guess? "Which song better describes the time to imbibe after a long day? A nice cold beer at five o'clock, or, wreathed in smoke about a quarter after nine?" Ha ha :rfl:

You have been very conscientious and thorough in your Rush journey (on these forums) and perhaps your quick wit won you the prize?

Ha ha, actually the Bangkok/Working Man thing was separate from the trivia. What happened was I asked this person what his favorite Rush song was, he said Working Man, and then immediately started singing A Passage to Bangkok. I pointed out his mistake and he was impressed (and possibly embarrassed) since I've only been a fan for about a year. Then we started going back and forth with the trivia questions.

When you can't hit a shopping mall without feeling... subdivided.

When you look forward to celebrating the 21st December more than Christmas.

When you decide to take a train to Bangkok instead of a flight.

Subdivided and synthetic.

14. 2112 does NOT mean 12 minutes past 9!

Actually

The album's front cover, designed by Rush's longtime collaborator Hugh Syme, depicts a clock marked with alchemical symbols instead of numbers. It displays the time as 9:12, which in 24-hour time is 21:12, a reference to the band's fourth studio album, 2112 (1976).

15. They're the first thing that comes to mind regarding July 14.

I must not be a very big Rush fan, because it took me a couple of weeks to figure out what the heck you were talking about.

You're still learning and that makes it fun. If it makes you feel better, I had to pause for a few minutes before it came to me. :laughing guy:

You stop at the gas station to put 20 bucks worth of gas in your car and while filling you decide to put $21.12 in instead.

:laughing guy:

You start laughing when your receipt for lunch says $21.12 and your hubby laughs too (even though he's not a big fan) :D

You immediately notice when Tom Sawyer or Limelight gets played during a lapse in play at a hockey game or hear Rush as an intro for a NFL game. :dweez:

When you find yourself pondering if Circumstances would be amongst the many Rush songs played in your memorial service, and if your ability to sing Geddy's basslines to that song would be considered as celebrating your life by your loved ones after you're gone. Edited by Sun & Moon

That's pretty deep! I suppose there might be a hundred different ways to be a Rush fan...but if binary code is a factor? Pfffff. Time to re-watch the Dinner With Rush scene, they just want to have fun :)

On the CA tour, both nights I saw them (Newark, NJ and Brooklyn), the second set started at 9:12PM.

Coincidence? I think not. 2112 confirmed. :)

Err..... not sure where you are seeing the astrological symbols???

I see the "collectivist mentality" as depicted by the Red Star of the Solar Federation, which, according to the plot, is a galaxy-wide federation that controls all aspects of life during the year 2112.

* (The penny drops and I am editing this!!) We are talking at cross purposes here. You are referring to the artwork on Clockwork Angels. *

* I thought you were referring to the original 2112 art . *

* You are correct, CA shows a clock at 9:12 a pun on the original 2112 concept. *

* I stand corrected on all counts and humbly apologise! *

I know, I was just commenting on the parameters of fandom and choosing humour over science - but hey, I shouldn't judge :) I love that song, by the way.

When everyone around you thinks you're the biggest Rush fan on the planet.

I know I'm not. Some of you guys, your fandom is impressive. Most impressive. But I am hardcore huge fan - and can hold my own. I know the band and the details as well as anyone ;)
