It's the Super Bowl- what will you be eating?

Why do you need to eat something to watch a sports game?.....a few beers is surely sufficient?

While a regular season NFL game runs around three hours, it takes around four hours to complete the Super Bowl. More commercials, longer halftime show, etc. And if you watch the pregame festivities that's even more time. There's a good chance you'll want food during all that.

Really, in the U.S. this game is just an excuse to get together with family and friends and eat a lot of spicy food and drink beer.

Yeah, but I've never heard of people eating during cricket matches, and some of them take forever to finish.

Right, because cricket matches or baseball games or hockey games aren't national "events" like the Super Bowl is. Sure, like some American holidays it's an over-hyped day on the calendar designed to get you to buy food and drink and provide ad revenue to big companies, but many of us willingly let ourselves get sucked in anyway.

Cricket matches were a national event, but that was when everyone turned up in a suit and a top hat before WWII. Now it`s just people like me getting up at 4am - or who don`t go to bed at all - to watch England play India. I may even watch some of the Superbowl whilst I`m awake... as long as the commentary is aimed at two year-olds who are completely baffled by every aspect of what they`re watching, and that don`t mind who wins.

Cricket matches are a national event in Bangladesh. I mean, what else are they good at?

I'm sure I'm in the minority but I don't watch any if the hype around the game, and I hate the extended halftime. Being at a party means constant interruptions, and f**k that. The true best day of football is the conference championship game day. All the football, none of the bullshit.

Oh, that's one of the nice ones. Most of them are chock full of invective, against a team, an official, venue security, a player and/or their spouse/significant other, parents, etc. Nobody is safe.

The SB halftime shows are big snoozefests all the way, and this year's was no exception. I'm less enamored with the whole SB experience with each passing year. Even the commercials are getting boring.

This ad was the only one that I really liked, although it was fun to see Beavis and Butthead again . .
