"Fringe Case" - music video from new album

Here's the music video for "Fringe Case" from the new album, Chasing Fire. I've had it up on Facebook for a month or so, and now that the CD's and downloads are finally available on Amazon, I figured I should get it posted on Youtube as well this afternoon.

This song got its start when I picked up a Steinberger XL-2 bass a couple of years ago, and thought it might be fun to use it to record a track that sounded almost like it could have come from the year the bass was made, 1985. Analog synth melodies, the big, cavernous Lexicon reverbs, etc. Of course, the funny thing is, I had recorded the song and shot the video footage using the Steinberger...and then several months later when I went to edit the video, I decided I wasn't totally sold on how the Steinberger sounded on that song. So I re-recorded the bass part with a Laland JO4 (Jazz Bass equivalent), and the instrument that sparked the idea for the song isn't even in the mix any longer, hehe.

I didn't necessarily expect to use this as the opening track and video, as I'm wearing my mid '80s Rush influence more on my sleeve than usual and it's very retro. But I ended up going to slightly...weirder...places on most of the other songs on the album and this one seemed to be the most accessible and immediate of the bunch, so there it is!

btw, stoopid, I finally took your advice and set up a Bandcamp store. Just the newest album on there right now, but it is indeed a better deal for artists and fans...the artist gets a bigger slice of the payment and the fans can get the music at a lower price than on Amazon, etc., so a definite win-win. The Chasing Fire album download on Bandcamp also includes a digital booklet with photos, lyrics, and bio. The PDF booklet is available to download free from my main website, for those who buy the downloads elsewhere or opt to get the CD version from Amazon instead.

Yeah, it's almost a no brainer.

Can you post a link to the lyrics download? I'd like to read along! [i don't see the download on your website]

On the main page of the site, if you scroll down, it's the last item in the left-hand column.

Sorry, the site could use some finessing still. I'm still kind of figuring out Bandzoogle's site building tools. It's a bit frustrating not being able to just drag and drop things exactly where I want them the way I could with Yahoo's WYSIWYG site building tools ten or fifteen years ago, but they stopped updating them and they were becoming incompatible with modern browsers, so I had to move on.

PDF booklet is well done, I like the additional bio (will give it a full read later).
