Motley Crue - Theatre of Pain from 1985 is it crap?

11 members have voted

  1. 1. Do you rate Motley Crue's 3rd album Theatre of Pain highly or is it shit?

    • Yes it's one of their better albums, if not their best
    • No it stinks like the stalls in the "Boys Room"
    • Meh
    • It's one of the weaker ones but it's ok
    • Meh to the whole band and all their albums
    • The best Motley Crue album is actually a Vince Neil solo album called Exposed
    • Are those guys still alive?
      0
    • What did Mick Mars think?
      0
    • Are those albums still in print at this point?
      0
    • Motley Crue hardly know which way around to hold their instruments
    • Mick Mars should have gone solo in 1986
    • Vince Meal was probably too busy eating to be interviewed for this
    • Nikki Sixx is a load of rubbish too
    • I prefer Motley Crue to Van Halen

    • Mick Mars was an old man in 1970

Motley Crue members Tommy Lee, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx were saying today how much they hated the Theatre of Pain album, and that it was trash. Vince Meal was shocked that it went double platinum, Lee said he hadn't even heard the album yet, and Nikki SIxx said it was complete rubbish.

I actually think it's one of their better albums, in fact it's better than everything apart from Shout at the Devil for me.

What do you think? Is Theatre of Pain a load of rubbish or not?

No way is it better than TFFL.

I never got into that album, I think I liked Live Wire and that's it.

Gosh that's surprised me. Starry Eyes, Piece of your Action, Take me to the Top, all platinum Crue.

Dr.Feelgood is shite. That's when the wheels fell off.

Yeah I don't get why people talk that album up. I think the band themselves think that's their best album.

It's a bona fide stinker. If Milli Vanilli tried to make a metal album, Feelgood would be the result. Eff Bob Rock.

Maybe it's the production? I don't know. I didn't really get into the band until I saw them live in 1984 and then I went and re-listened to Shout at the Devil and liked it more.

I've genuinely no idea. He was flavour of the month at one time, and then he just seemed to vanish.

Finally some of the bands realised how bad he was making them sound and took him for a one way trip to the desert.

I love the rawness of TFFL, especially the Leathur Records version. It's the epitome of underground 80s US metal. A true milestone.

Let's hope so. That perma-tanned chancer deserves a shallow grave.

He's still around producing. I've not heard much about him though since the 90's.

Boys! I had a weird ass dream about RUSH last night.

I was at this big bar and I was talking to Alex before their show. The bar had a small stage with a drum set on it. Then in the background there was the concert hall and a big stage.

So Alex and I started chatting and he asked if I could help him get another guitar out of the trunk of his car. So we went into the parking lot. He grabbed two guitars from the trunk. I held one.

He held the other. So I decided to show Alex my car with my N PEART license plate.

As we walked over to my car, it wasn't mine. It was a white BMW with generic plates.

I was tripping out. I told Alex that I goofed and that I was driving a rental.

Anyway we went back to the venue. He took off and met Geddy at the bar. Neil was nowhere in sight.

Next think I know, Geddy is on the bass and Alex is on a small drum set on the little stage by the bar.

Geddy and Alex started playing "Shout At The Devil." It seemed so real!!! It was totally weird but they pulled it off. They played another cover too but I can't remember.

Then I woke up.

Nothing touches "Too Fast" and "Shout!" Two epic perfect records!!!! Then it gets dicey. However, "Girls, Girls, Girls" is a great bounce back record to the leather, the sleaze and the motorcycles.

I think "Dr. Feelgood" is a slick, polished MTV pop rock record. I enjoy the album. Many songs are about fuckking, sucking cock and shooting cum everywhere. What's wrong with that? So sticky sweet boyz.

How do you think Neil would have managed in Motley Crue?

Well I know Neil wanted to leave RUSH and drum for The Who. I could see that.

I know Tommy and Neil are apples to oranges, but one thing I know they both hit the drums fuckking hard. I've always loved Tommy's heavy badass drumming. I've incorporated it into my playing.

Bands I have been in have said I'm like Neil Peart meets Tommy Lee meets Mitch Mitchel. I will take that buddy!!!

Neil would never fit in that style but he could play that Motley Music with his 747's with the butt of the sticks up baby!!!!!! Forget that matchstick grip shite!!! GRIP IT AND RIP IT!!!!

I know that Tommy was in the marching band too. He's very underrated. I love Tommy!!! He hits the drums hard. Amazing swagger. Has a big cock too.

I know many on here HATE Blink 182 but I love Travis Barker too as a drummer. Both are tall, lanky, have a shitload of tats and hit HARD!!!

Love it!

I could see Neil on the "Girls Girls Girls" tour!! Strap Neil in and fuckking ride that drumming rollercoaster baby!!!!! Not only would Neil's drum set rotate up and down and upside down it would spin slowly in a 360 manner like his Rush kit does!!!!!! KILLER!
