lerxt1990
I've liked, and loved tomatoes. I've been almost like a vegetarian because I eat more fruits, and vegetables, than meat. If, and when I do eat meat, it's mostly chicken. Every once in awhile, I eat fish, but it's breaded sole, and breaded lemon cod baked in the oven. I need ot do this. The disappointed look on my doctors face is getting to be too much to bear :( While we're on this subject - the most appalling thing about my not eating better that prevents many people from doing so is that I love healthy food. I love friut, veggies, of ALL kinds, whole grain things etc. I do eat too many carbs.. and just... too much. I like chicken and fish too... Too much bread, rice, pasta? Are you a big dude? Yes. Yes-ish..

Yes-ish.. I hear you. It’s hard for me to cut back on rice due to my geography. Not eating it in some social situations would be a little uncomfortable. Mrs. B also badgers me and says that I “need to eat it”. Why? Because it’s a staple food here? So yeah, not that easy for me to avoid it regardless of my will power. Pasta is easy enough to avoid even though I like it. Bread can be tough to cut back on given that I love it + there are so many ways to eat it + the ease & convenience of eating it. I’m not a very big guy so it’s not too much of an issue really. BUT to give an idea of size differences...here, I have to wear a large or extra-large t-shirt. Stateside, I’m medium. So yeah, any gain of 5 or more pounds could mean having to buy some new clothes. I’ve digressed?
zepphead
Great in salads, pastas, pizza or a particular fave of mine - two rounds of bread, toast one side, turn and put sliced tomato and grated chedder cheese on top - then grill until cheese melted. Yum!

Im not diabetic but I know I have insulin resistance given the way my body reacts to carbs. I also live a sedentary lifestyle and covid has made this measurably worse. :(
_hi_water._
A friend from some time ago had a genuine phobia of tomatoes (and balloons). Personally, I think tomatoes are nasty things best suited for throwing at whomever is in the stocks.I would prefer rocks. :fury:would you prefer rocks for eating? GordonCalvin
No hate against the tomato loves out there but I legiitimately gross out when there is a tomato near me. Every product that they make from tomato just hurts on both the eyes and the smell. The taste is the worst of them all as they are horrible when it comes to the tomato. I hope that there are changes in the future for meals that have surprise tomato out there because I legitimately get disgusted by it lol. The only thing that I can tolerate is probably pizza but the taste is overpowered by the cheese and other toppings on the pizza itself.
Sun & Moon
I eat cherry tomatoes almost every day during the winter but in the summer I prefer the large ones that are grown in the countryside nearby.
chemistry1973
Anti Tormato. Band was completely out of gas at that point. Thank God the Buggles stepped in.
grep
As far as I'm concerned, David Lee Roth missed Tomatos as an essential food group. It's sugar, starch, fat, grease, alcohol AND tomatos.
blueschica
Pro tomato, especially cherry tomatoes! I'm ordering seeds this week to start this year's plants. I finally got tired of tomato stakes, baskets, trellises etc all failing on me. Last spring I bought 6 foot lengths of rebar to tie them up with. It worked really well, although before the plants were in the neighbors kept asking me what I was trying to grow. :P :P
pjbear05
Methinks the greater part of hate for tomatoes is attributed to the "old wives tale", dating back to the Middle Ages, asserting that raw tomatoes were highly poisonous. My latest big use tomato product is concentrated tomato paste in a tube. Since I no longer cook large amounts of a dish such as a big pot of chili or spaghetti sauce, opening and then storing even the smallest can of tomato paste turns out to be very wasteful. The paste in a tube works just fine.
