I love his stance on PeW, but he loses me in choosing Sammy over Dave. And can you actually govern well without functioning taste buds?

#notasingleissuevoter

I think not.

Just to say, A Trick Of The Tail is the first post-Gabriel Genesis studio album, damn good one too

With or without Peter Gabriel, all Genesis albums superlative

Y'all mocking Trans Am Highway Wonderland wouldn't be if it was written by a ten year old. Don't forget Sammy ate lead paint in his youth, so.

I'd need a strong woman for VP, it's the fashion these days. You in?

Just speak plainly. You need a female that is in her dotage and can barely string enough words together to make a logical sentence.

I'm in! :codger:

If you aren't occasionally suspended, blocked or banned from something, you aren't doing it right

That's not true.

I've been posting in there ever since I joined, and I've never been given a strike. Most of the regulars who post in there today know how to deal with things without getting nasty or mean. The idea is to have a meaningful discussion about current events and politics with the result of becoming more enlightened, both about the way others see the world and information that you gain. To me, its an educational experience and a great opportunity to gain understanding into the opinions of others. It's not for everyone, but its' also not the contentious place that many paint it to be. I've made a lot of friends in there, even those who I politically disagree with.

Sammy over Dave? He`s just trying to mess with your head! Literally like "Love Walks In" over "Mean Street".

The guy has a Trans Am and he's not blasting Panama? :wtf:

"Old Van Halen, when I was in it - classic Van Halen - makes you wanna drink, dance, and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan, and have a relationship."

Hahahaha!!! EPIC POST!!! Hell yes!!! THIS!!!!!!! YOU NAILED IT!!!!

That's actually a quote from Dave.

YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT AND A LIAR AND SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND FACTS AND RATIOS AND LOTS OF OTHER THINGS AND IT'S AN EMBARRASSMENT TO EVEN READ YOUR POSTS!!!111!!! (I kid, but I've read all of that and then some in SOCN but you're generally correct). Some people just can't seem to maintain control or maybe there's a short between brain and fingers. :o

When I played regularly I probably could have handled MA's bass parts, but never his background vocals.

Yet all of a sudden he wasn't good enough for Van Halen, specifically Alex. Cock knockers.

Taking away Reb's ability to Private Message was a dick move. And since he mentioned its how he was keeping up with certain members in this thread, it seem just incredibly petty.

No, not a dick move, and not petty.

Reb kept breaking rules here and kept acting like those rules didn't apply to him -- rules that he is well aware of and has broken in the past and gotten reprimanded for. In his Absalom thread, he was asked to not post about politics outside of SOCN. He ignored that and started this thread, and continued to post about politics and old SOCN conflicts. The SOCN rules mention that sort of thing, and he was warned about that earlier in this thread. A few days later he came back and continued to ignore these warnings, making two more rule-breaking political/old SOCN grudge posts that were moved to SOCN. That's when his PM privileges were taken away, along with putting his posting privileges on moderator preview.

It's not like he wasn't warned.

NWK, you can't keep visiting someone's house and keep taking a dump on their living room floor and expect to continue to enjoy that house's amenities. We've been unbelievably patient with Reb in his 14 years here, gave him countless warnings and second chances, and he kept popping a squat in our carpet. So, this is what happens.

The way the brothers treated him is shameful. His background vocals are an essential element of the VH sound IMO, and Eddie is full of sh*t that what you're hearing is a combination of him and Anthony. When I saw Sammy last summer, it sounded pretty much the same, and Eddie wasn't there.

In some bands, especially the ones where they mainly use two-part harmonies, the person doing the harmonies is just important to the band's sound as the lead singer. Sometimes moreso, and you see that when a band changes that lead singer.

On Yes' Drama album, new singer Trevor Horn sounded little like Jon Anderson, but Chris Squire's backing vocals still made it sound like Yes. Jerry Cantrell's harmonies kept Alice in Chain's signature sound intact, as did Robby Steinhardt with Kansas, and Michael Anthony with VH.

Wolfgang Van Halen singing with DLR sounded less like Van Halen than MA with Sammy, IMO.

holy sh** what has this topic turned into?

Most TRFers are expert at inserting different ideas and getting a thread on to a whole different track. You will eventually learn this awesome skill as well. ;)

I came to the realization that the political theater is a waste of time. By all means vote, but realize that your vote is a drop of water in an ocean. If the collective majority produces idiotic results, then so be it; I just hope my vote doesn't contribute to the idiocy. It's also obvious to me that there's millions of f***ing stupid people in this country...both left and right. I just try to stay away from them to avoid their cesspool of thoughts.

Life's too short to waste your time on this crap. Be an educated voter, vote, and move on. Save your energy for what's truely important. Carpe diem.

Great points.

Do you think Geddy's bass tone was too thin on the 80s/synth era albums or did it bring out qualities that enhanced our enjoyment of those songs?
